“Who said vegans can’t eat chicken?”
um…..vegans?
@@angeleyeszarai why not just eat meat if yall gonna just try and make it look like real meat
@@SSonaBoo As Bimboy said, why do you assume someone who is vegan hates the taste of meat? Many vegans love the taste of meat and cheese, but for moral reasons, environmental reasons or health reasons decide to go plant based.
That's like complaining about cookie substitutes that are made to be gluten free for people with celiacs or even a simple intolerance.
Many people are also lactose intolerant but love the taste of cheese and spend ages trying to find a vegan alternative that tastes similar so they won't feel sick.
We even have drinks that are "peach flavoured coke" that have 0% peach and don't even taste like peach but want to replicate it anyways.
Stop getting butthurt about people replicating tastes for any reason, cause you yourself have surely had some type of drink or food that does the same in your life.
I deleted my comment by accident trying to respond to that 1 disrespectful comment..... and youtube isn't allowing me to say what I want to say.
Basically I said "chik'un.... a meat replacement or faux meat. I'm vegetarian & don't miss meat, I just replace it like this recipe". Than "whyii" responded to me. And in my response I WANTED to ask them... if they tell other people with OTHER dietary needs (religious folks, people on diets, or health issues, etc) to eat food THEY don't or not supposed to eat. I'm sure they don't, because it's clearly disrespectful. So why do it to someone who doesn't or can't eat meat? There's no difference. And fyi I ate vegan & vegetarian food, even when I DID eat meat..... that's how it was so easy to switch.
NO other group of people.... gets disrespected or even QUESTIONED for the food they can't or don't eat, for whatever reason. ONLY vegans & vegetarians get disrespected and harassed like that..... it's despicable & inexcusable, to say the least.
How are these people SO threatened by non-animal or non-meat diets? 🤔 Something actually POSITIVE for animals, for health & for the planet. It shouldn't NEED to explained. Absolutely pathetic, and says alot. About where society is still at.
This is basically how Buddhists (at least in Malaysia, where I’m from) have been making meat substitutes for ages. It’s actually really good.
Isn't that saitan? (That you get from wheat flour)
i think it come from china
and dont have anything to do with budd

@@fattyrose3251 Well, I’m speaking from my own experience growing up in Malaysia, where you almost only ever see this in Buddhist vegetarian/vegan restaurants or during religious events.
@@oliverchunlong only eat veg it have in china before budd india have it too so i know it
I'm Chinese (-American) and I'm amazed at this recipe!! I'm interested to make this just to see how it tastes, since I've only had it in our traditional dishes.
Chicken to Vegans: “Why you so obsessed with me?”
Chicken to vegans: thank you for not eating me
Chickens to chicken killers : cowards
because it's easier for ppl to become vegan if they have good substitutes to their favourite foods?
@@yasminflower5140 yep we would rather our species go extinct because we are no longer necessary.

If you're vegetarian or vegan but struggle w coming up w recipes, I highly recommend looking into Asian cuisine. That also includes Indian and Mediterranean btw. Lots of vegetarian dishes
Lentil rice with fried onions (Mujadara) is an amazing Arab dish and is completely vegan. Some people put either arab salad or yogurt on the side. Just sub the yogurt as you see fit.
Another Arab dish is Dawali. Greeks call this Dolma. Americans think its weird leaf rolls/ Grape Leaf Rolls stuffed with rice. Get the version that has no ground beef in it.
HUMMUS AND FALAFEL
These are just a few Arab dishes.
@lisamolala3588 a lot of traditional korean food unfortunately uses fish sauce, shrimp paste, etc. that make it not vegetarian friendly 🥲
Yep coming from south india there are lot of veg recipes. It's just you need to search a little more to find it as they are not as popular as non veg recipes.
And don't limit gourself to meat lookalikes. You don't need to make a vegetable look like a meat to enjoy it. Deepfried battered vegetables taste great.
THIS! i’m married to an italian and the things Mediterraneans can do with veggies, beans and oil is so delicious it should be a crime
I’ve been to so many Asian-owned vegan restaurants that make fried “chicken” like this, but they use thick paper straws as faux bones. It’s surprisingly good, even if you’re not vegetarian or vegan
I love this!! I've tried being a vegan for a weekend and a week on and off. From experience...this is AWSOME! Thank you. Also for those reading this, try being a vegan for a set time. It's truly a journey unlike any other.
I was vegan for 3 years and this is by far the best substitute. Sometimes just eating flesh grosses me out a little so I'll still use it and yup, still good!
Everybody’s so creative
Thats what i was thinking 🤣

The faux bones are hilarious.

I wonder how environmentally safe it is to kill those trees to make a fake bone?
@@theinvisiblewoman5709 Prolly less "unsafe" than the 2k email inboxes in your inboxes.
Y'all act like trees don't weigh tons.
My vegetarian aunt used sugarcane as a replacement for bones and no it doesn't affect the taste of the faux meat and its actually rlly delicious as a treat since my relatives and i rarely eat sugarcanes
@@theinvisiblewoman5709 safer than your wooden furniture. Chill out, they're reusable.
I'm not vegan, but I've watched a lot of vegan "chicken" videos, and this is the first time it actually looked appetizing. I have zero doubt that that was a tasty thing to eat, with probably pretty satisfying textures. This is also the first one I've seen that incorporated two different "flesh" ingredients.
In India we call it soya chaap. All sorts of chicken dishes have soya chaap options for vegetarians.
That is the MOST realistic chickenless chicken I've ever seen!!!!!

WOODEN BONES?! That's freaking adorable I wish I thought of it first 😂
😅
Ngl, I made your fired chicken recipe for Christmas, and it was hard af 🤣🤣 but delicious. Everyone ate them up, I couldn’t bother - I was too tired 😭
Finally someone in the comment section that tried it, I’m gonna try too! Glad you guys enjoyed it except for u😂
@@Alicatnoscaredycat yea the flavor and texture is on point, but wrapping the Yuba was so hard 😩. If you’re going to try it, definitely don’t skimp out on purchasing those larger wooden sticks! I had to wrap so much tofu around the skinnier sticks and it kept rotating on the stick. Hot mess. The only thing that helped was when I wrapped everything with the rice paper. Definitely a labor of love the first time around.
@@heymsparker2816 yikes, good to know, thank u!
@@heymsparker2816 would you say it’s even worth including the fake bone?

Cool! I've been experimenting with making VFC the last couple of weeks. I was never a fan of the boned chicken so I've been making boneless fillet style instead, and have had success with making a "dough" out of firm tofu, wheat gluten, soy milk and coconut milk.
I feel like KFT makes more sense 🤔 sorry, carry on
Very interesting I’d love to try this! I’m gonna try her bone in one but yours sound really good too and potentially easier for me to do. I can just go to the store and get firm tofu but the stuff she’s using is have to order which isn’t bad but takes much more planning and ordering and waiting. If you have a recipe and are willing to share.

Why is everyone so shitty about veganism. I’m not vegan but since I got COVID last year meat smells like dead animals, I love these recipes
you'll be surprised to learn meat IS dead animals.
Because vegans are shitty about “meat eaters.” That’s it. Your own community ruins your own reputation.
I'm not vegan and I'd LOVE this! The tofu skin is my fav and I know that rice paper makes that jawn CRONCHY af~
I'd definitely try this but without the faux bone, with a more spicy season sauce to coat the soy skins
A very unique recipe. ❤️
Thanks a lot
It's incredible how many people don't understand some vegans just do it for the animals suffering. Not because they don't like meat.
If that's the case, would any of them eat an animal that didn't suffer and died naturally?
@@_RustodianExactly.
@@_Rustodian Very many would. The whole point is to stop the cruel and inhumane meat production practices and all the environmental hazards it causes. If animals would just be treated normally and the nasty methods of production changed, yeah for sure I'd eat meat!
@@_Rustodian A lot of "vegetarians"/allies of ours only eat cruelty free products and game for example and that's completely fine. Cool actually! Atleast they're doing something which can't be said about a lot of people, unfortunately. Also veganism/vegetarianism for animals ofcourse relates a lot to the manufacture of clothes, medicines, sanitary products etc. not just food. Humans as a species shouldn't be allowed to use other species for our own sick gains. Especially when it is well known that these things do not require animal involvement at all, it is only still in use to cut corners and get money. And medicine... Well I'm a firm believer on humans testing on humans, afterall the medicine is for us not for the animals. And we also have prisons full of people ready to be tested on and they probably wouldn't even have to be forced, some money or years off of sentences would work miracles. Heck, I'd be a test subject for a quick buck! But like I said, these companies are greedy and cruel and It's gonna take a big headstrong movement to shake them onto the right path.
@@_Rustodian yes, many vegans actually consider eating roadkill to be acceptable, for instance.
Oh those look pretty dang neat! Seen a few things using the skins for the meat texture and it seems pretty close. Idk ofc haven't tried it and ain't vegan but if I had the chance I'd totally give it a shot

is there any reason to not just dump them into the broth to rehydrate them in the first place rather than plain water first and *then* redo it in the boiling broth?
Probably because the way she did it gets it all softened at once rather than having the reach in and flip them and risk burning yourself with boiling water.
I was thinking the same thing would probably absorb the flavor better too!
i love your style❤ this looks bomb!
I hope you got a raise for passing the challenge

@@geraldineekhator5428 wow! Was that your first episode, by any chance?
@@melissasaint3283 no I’ve been allergic to poultry since I was six years old. So for 48 years now.
@@geraldineekhator5428 Wow! I know it must be very hard to be allergic to something so universal that is usually considered benign!
Personally, I have a rare allergy to an elemental metal that is usually helpful, and so it is used everywhere in everything. If I am exposed and don't know, my skin will burn like fire and eventually break out into hives that crack and bleed. I can react to dental fillings, party balloons, most deodorants, most sunblock,
And as I learned last summer to my chagrin, most of the OTC stuff used to treat and soothe poison ivy. That was a one way trip to steroid town...
The strangest thing is, this allergy is genetic. A bunch of people in my family have it, but almost none of us are officially diagnosed because no one looks for this allergy.
