Captain of the Peerless II? What a fun job that must be. Bracebridge, and all of Muskoka, is beautiful. It was fun making this video and it's a perfect example of the types of unique shots that are only obtainable using a small flying camera like this. I wish I could repeat this flight with my newer drone, as it is equipped with a much more stable camera gimbal. This old one was stabilized only in pitch and roll. The newer 3D gimbals now also stabilize yaw, so you don't see the annoying side-to-side wobble visible in this 3-yr old video. Sadly, ever since the announcement of Transport Canada's overly restrictive Interim Order Respecting the Use of Model Aircraft, there are about 15 different ways in which this flight would now be considered illegal if repeated today. Since March 16th this year, recreational operators of model aircraft are not permitted to fly within, "a lateral distance of less than 250 feet (75m) from buildings, structures, vehicles, vessels, animals and the public including spectators, bystanders or any person not associated with the operation of the aircraft". Furthermore, we are not allowed to fly, "within 9 km of the centre of an aerodrome". Muskoka Airport is 7 km South of the falls. The Lake Muskoka Airport Bay Seaplane Base is 7 km to the West. But more importantly, the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Heliport is only 1.3 km to the North of the falls. I don't anticipate a medical helicopter would ever be flying under the railway bridge and/or under Ecclestone Drive Bridge, or 10' over the hydro dam like I was doing with my drone. The only potential danger to a medivac copter might have been my closing shot where I pulled away to show a higher view of the falls. But even then, in the unlikely event of a helicopter flying this low, I would have heard and seen it coming and would have gladly given way to it, worst case even if it meant dropping my drone into the river. All of the shots in this flight were conducted over water. Nobody was ever in any danger here. Every one the people who stopped to watch me fly were intrigued and asked only friendly questions. Even the owner/operator of the hydro power dam facility eventually tracked me down, asking me to contact him. Oh-oh, that sounds like I'm in trouble. But no, he loved the video and wanted me to come shoot video of their other power dam facility up in Parry Sound. Recreational flyers are now effectively banned from doing flights such as these. I suspect even a commercial drone operator would have difficulty obtaining all the required permits for this. It's sad. I don't get paid in any way for these flights. It's purely a hobby for me. I share my videos to illustrate the beauty of our country, hoping people might enjoy watching them. Like the title of the music piece in this video, there's "Nothing to Fear", other than overly excessive regulations.

I have visited bracebridge before looks like a nice place. I wish I could move to a small town or rural area in Ontario cause I hate Toronto (born and raised here all my life) dont really like the 'big city'. Haha I like my peace and quiet, fishing ,riding, and all that good stuff! But my work is here in Toronto so I'm stuck here unfortunately
