I really miss your content. I remember watching your videos in grade 9, and now I'm a first-year law student. Hope you thriving
Glad you’re doing well, Eve. I’ve watched your past videos and yet I never bothered to comment in any of them. You went from being a lawyer to now being a tech manager. Your overall progress is applaudable. It actually seems like yesterday you were just a law student working hard to achieve your goals and dreams. I wish you well on your brand new journey.
Hello!! that is so kind - thank you! I wish you every success also!
@@EveCornwellChannel hi, thank you for encouraging me 😊
it's insane to me that i started watching her in year 9 and i'm starting my law degree this september, feels like yesterday honestly.
Completely relate - I started watching her in Yr 10-11 and I'm about to finish my psychology degree and thesis in forensics
I can now be 100% positive that this career is not for me. There's a position in my current company to move into this type of work style and I had reservations about the type of communication and micromanagement that it would entail and knowing myself, I'm confident that I would not survive in that world. This was very helpful for me to understand how it might look. Thank you.
same here! it's TOO much constant communication and micromanagement for my introverted self.
@@ashleybobashly92747299210 samesis. My current job thankfully only communicates through teams and email but tech requires so much more management and keeping on top of people I just cant live like that.
Agreed, I prefer being an associate than doing this. Great video.
Hey so I'm currently a product owner without a tech background so a lot of this was very similar to my day! With the micromanagement side I do think some of what eve was showing here was definitely illustrative ? Like I'd probably never ask a team member specifically about a job I'm really just there to help give background and help and remove their impediments. Having said that I'm now moving into software development because I'm too much of an introvert to spend 4+ hours a day leading calls and I find it very exhausting 😂
Would be really interesting to see how you practically got into project management from law, like what were they looking for in terms of experience and skills and where did you get relevant experience/traits from (i.e. being a lawyer or youtube/hobbies). Loved the graphics on this video! Made it way easier to follow and understand
same !!
Yes, please! I am constantly thinking about switching to project management from law 😂
I believe that she seconded to a tech team while on a TC at Linklaters ! ❤ although I could be wrong.
I've realised that unless you're an Emergency Worker then your job isn't that important and therefore ... just relax, know your place and stop putting pressure on yourself, keep a balance in your life and never try to make people like you. Work is work and nothing more
Girl this is crazy. I'm about to complete my master of laws and I realized i don't want to work in legal field lol. Recently I started to get interested in tech but I was worried because I don't have the background for it. You inspire me!! Thank you for your videos :)
Can I ask why you aren't inclined to work in the legal field??
@@jathebest2835 Hey! Law student from the Netherlands here? A lot of students in de US and UK study law without really knowing what it entails. When they get to do the real deal, they're like: wtf. This is mainly because academic law is reaaaally not what real life is. Academic law is structured, fun (because u can discuss criteria and Legal philosophy, but in real life you have to do a lot of administrative tasks before it even gets to a trial/court. Also, you have sO many fields you can specialize in and your experience will HIGHLY depend on what field you go in.
Luckily, in the Netherlands you have a lot of opportunities to get legal skills. I work at a Law Hub where I started so I could get used to give people legal advice to mostly people with low income, you also come in contact with lawyers and law firms(it's made by students and specializes in simple legal questions).
Though I don't know any other country which offers such opportunities to students, thus they don't know what they're getting themselves into till they're jn their masters
@@swansong_ I see.. I come from South Korea, learning programming to get into the Tech industry or related ones, and thank you for your detailed information :) I'm not from a legal background but I was interested in those who gave up their legal field even tho they tried so hard.
As with other professions, I think people really need to know themselves and the real industry situations. I see many people on CZcams who transition to a whole different field (ex. finance -> software engineering) and it's always interesting for me to listen to their sides :)
same! i'm still in law school (bachelor's) and i love law as a subject but i just don't see myself doing it as a career lol trying to pivot to tech or consulting, also all the best to you for a career change haha :)
come back eve we miss you :(((
I would say this is more project management within the tech industry rather than a tech job, which is great to know exists because I assumed that a techy person would hold this role in order to aid team members problem solve
I have always face palmed when someone I meet says they work in tech, then I ask what they do(knowing 9/10 times it’s nothing tech related) and they say I do/am a PO,PM, Scrum Master, Agile coach, HR, recruiter and marketing/social media. It grinds my gears in a way, because is misleading and disingenuous. I’m not trying to gate-keep but as someone who actually codes and leads a tech team as a TL, I do all that a PM/Scrum master can do but I would never call myself that. Just like if I worked in the hospital as an engineer or mechanic or janitorial staff, I wouldn’t say I work in medicine or something “saving lives” adjacent.
Usually I’ve found that it’s a way for them to say they work in tech, without getting into what they do, to have a more grandiose sounding job. To put it simply, just say you work in a tech company as x or what you are, unless you want me to follow the conversation with programming paradigm and design patterns haha.
And to end, I genuinely don’t want to come off as mean, just for clarity, just say what you are, don’t say you work in tech when you don’t touch anything tech related.
this was so interesting. honestly, i wish i could get a day in the life of people in different fields. it would've helped me get an understanding much earlier on what i wanted to do
Honestly best way to learn tech is to teach yourself and practice, practice, practice. Nice content.
That's my approach (plus asking loadsloads of questions). Thanks Ryan!
i love loved this and all the new content! ive been watching you since your law school days as i was gearing up to become a law student. as a law student who never felt like they fit for the commercial legal roles, its been further inspiring and reassuring to see you fearlessly enter a new industry
Hi Eve! Really love to see you be happy and progressing in your professional life. I have been a part of your journey from your law school days and I think that you are using your platform in a beautiful way since you have just showed that the world does not stop if you change your path. Thank you for that!
Given that I am also in the middle of a major career change and starting a similar job in a few weeks, this video could not have come at a better time! This has helped settle all my nerves before day one and start my new role with confidence. Have always loved your channel and have enjoyed following you on your journey. Thank you Eve!!
i've been here since 2017 before i even finished high school and now i'm in my last year of bachelor's studies and about to start my first job. still miss your uni day vlogs & study motivation but it's so nice to see growth
i really loved the structure of this video! so different from a usual day in a life video. love your new routine though, looks like you are doing so well in this new job
Honestly, this video sparks so much joy. Your content was amazing previously, as it is now. But your openness about the change of profession makes you so unbelievably relatable and inspirational for your viewers who might struggle too, to find a suitable profession. Thank you for taking us along the journey! ☺️
So nice seeing so much genuine enjoyment from you regarding your job Eve💗 I work in Customer Success for a start up and so much in this video felt familiar and resonated with me as a person from a non technical background in a more technical role. More videos like this would be amazing!!
Hi Eve, I've been a huge fan following your journey in Law now to Tech. Similar to yourself, I've transitioned into tech from a legal background since 2018 so it's fab seeing fellow legal peeps adopting a similar journey and doing smashingly well being a woman in tech & staying positive!
Thank you so much for posting this! I recently started as a Product Owner at a Tech company, while I don't have a Tech background. It's really helpful to see you go through the same things.
This is super interesting content! I wish I had been able to watch people outside of the influencer industry document their work days as a teen, I think it could have given me a better understanding of what you do at different jobs 😁 I found my way somehow but I think your videos are a great resource for people trying to figure out what they might want to do!
welcome back, it's so fun to see a slice into what you've been up to!! also your editing is 10/10 as always
I loved this video!! I've been out of work for a couple of months and start as a software engineer again next month and this has made me so excited to start working in a tech team again!! Slack I miss you!!
Loved this! It would be great to see more of these. I am also a non-tech person looking at moving into a tech adjacent field. Seeing the opportunities available and what the day-to-day looks like is super interesting.
So amazing to see you grow from strength to strength, Eve! So happy to see you thriving in this new role. Hope you're taking good care of yourself! 💛
Great to see you here Prabhav! I’ve always appreciated your comments! Sending you best wishes also!
I work in a tech start-up and have no tech background, it has definitely been a struggle. But I find just being honest about my experience, and making sure the people I work with know my limitations has been a real advantage - it avoids the assumption of knowledge.
This is so cool! I’ve been watching your videos for a long time as a fellow law student/junior lawyer. I actually went into corporate law/capital markets around the same time as you and discovered a new passion I want to follow. I’m currently switching to sports PR/communications. This is super inspirational to me and shows me that lawyers don’t have to just “stick to law” and can go in a different direction and do new and exciting things!
This this THIS !!! Best of luck with your new PR / comms path!
@@EveCornwellChannel Thank you!
I love this kind of content, as much as I am OBSESSED with a legal deep dive and cannot wait for those videos, I admire the daily lives of those in the workfield and I'm fascinated as to what that looks like for different people, thank you, really fascinating, although my imposter syndrome is QUAKING
This is a cool video Eve! I’m from a civil engineering background so seeing the comparison between this software product management and our civil project management stuff was really interesting
I looooved this video! Really fab insight into how other people structure their day in tech. Makes me excited to start my new role as a Business Analyst and work with POs!
Loved seeing this from you and glad you're so happy where you are! I'd love to hear you chat a bit in the future about how the acclimation was into the tech world as someone who came from a different background. I feel like so few people talk about the realities of corporate job titles and their functions and how different people can fit, so this is so refreshing. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks a lot for this cool video, I was actually feeling a little bit down and confused because I'm doing an online internship and it's not going as I've expected but seeing how you're working from home motivates me a lot
Thank you again and I wish you every success ! 💜
i had a blast watching your law school videos, and i’m so proud of how far you’ve come x lots of love 💛
@𝙆𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙮 1 shut up
This is so amazing to see! I did a degree in teaching, realised I hated teaching after getting my degree, and instead decided to follow a path in eLearning 😂 I'm now working as an Instructional Designer and I haven't looked back, best decision I've ever made 😁
Omg yes. Its hard to know what you want to do when you're younger. Also, what jobs willl actually be like once you actually do them for a long time. Some jobs can be boring, stressful or lonely
Heey✨ I lovvvved this! The way you implemented some things you’ve learned like time blocking and then also sharing actual content/purpose of different meetings helped me gain so much more insight into the job. More videos like this please!🤩
Hi Eve, It has been a year since you have made any videos. I don't know how many times I have rewatched all of your videos. I hope you will start making CZcams videos again. By the way, congratulations on your engagement😍.
Thank you so much for making this. I am a product manager/project manager for an IT and software development company. I started a year ago. I felt like I was doing EVERYTHING wrong and could be doing something better for my team. Turns out, I'm doing it correctly - I just need to work on my self-esteem. Our days are similar, makes me feel better haha. Great work as always :)
This is by far the most informative day in the life I’ve ever watched- it’s shown me a whole different side of tech which I definitely want to look into ☺️
Brilliant, Eve! Looks like you clearly made the right decision and are THRIVING. Can't wait to see what the future has in store for you 💜
This may be the single video on CZcams that actually shows what PMs day is like and what these meetings actually entail. Really well done!! 👏👏
One thing amongst many that I admire and respect about Eve and this channel in general is that you can trust not to be met with toxic vibes and any sort of fakeness that would impose on your mood. It's only ever interesting and engaging. I'm so grateful for that.
Her videos always put a smile on my face 🥹
More of these kinda vlog because this just set my career goal. I'll never forget this. Thank you!
So fun to see these types of videos! Keep em coming! Just got my first job offer for a full time job after my studies and Im very excited to start working in tech❤️
Loved this vlog, Eve. You could make a video about shopping for crepe paper and I'd genuinely watch it to the last minute. I've always enjoyed your unique editing style, and have really loved watching you live your life and find what brings you joy! Also, the apartment is viiiiiiibes.
super cool to see your day-to-day / learn more in depth about this career - 1) confirmed it's DEF not for me but 2) so glad it seems like a great fit for you and you're happy doing it!! :D
this was so cool to see! I’m a business major compsci minor and am starting to consider product management as a career. Especially loved that there’s work involving design as well!
I love this and the way you edited this so much! So cool to see your journey!!
Great video, thank you!! I was in law and am now a corporate project manager. Have been considering a move into tech so this is really insightful. Thank you ☺️
Yayyy!!! Go Eve, go!!!! Love this format. Super interesting to see how others work and it gave me good ideas about how to make my workday more productive. Can’t wait for the next one. 🖤
Also I think that as an “outsider” to the tech field, you can provide unique insight from a different perspective. I can already tell how valuable you’re going to be to this company…. You’re contributing not only as a hard worker, but also as someone from a different professional background with fresh ideas - exactly what can make a startup company thrive!
As a mechanical engineer who’s fallen into tech, this was FANTASTIC. Please do more!! I feel like there is so much smoke and mirrors around the actual work in tech
Exciting stuff, Eve! I started watching your videos because your law-related videos were a completely different world to me and it was really interesting to learn about it.
Now that you're in tech I'm even more looking forward to more videos like this because I'm a software dev and it's quite fun to see a behind the scenes look of how a PO's day looks like 😆
I was really looking forward to watching this video and it was really insightful!! I’ve just started a role in tech (it’ll be exactly 1 month tomorrow 😊) and I was really inspired by your move into tech to take the plunge and now I’m training to be a cloud engineer despite not having a technical background. I also have that exact laptop but I’m a windows gal so I actually really like the thinkpad 😂.
It’s so cool seeing what a day in your life is like because tech is something that a lot of people want to pivot into but it’s hard to know what the options are when you’re only aware of technical roles
Loved this video! I'm glad to see you're loving this new journey, can't wait to see more
i loved this video so much!! SOOO interesting way to go eve!!
I did love the bits of legal vs tech comparisons - as a law student reviewing my current options was super helpful!
I love your channel because you show law students like me that being a solicitor is not the only path for us. I have just finished my internship in a tech start up after studying law for two years in Austria. It has been one of the most eye-opening and refreshing experiences in my life. You have been creating such an inspiring content for years. And I am very grateful that you take us along on your career journey!
I truly LOVED the tech content so you should absolutely do more videos like these! ❤️
I loved this - and please do more! As someone thinking about going into project management it's so interesting and helpful to see. Thank you for sharing!
Really enjoyed this one, Eve (as always). Glad you're enjoying your new job, and that is really clear when seeing you do it!
This was really fun to watch. More of these please!
Your videos always make me feel so motivated and centered. I find myself consistently coming back to your old videos. Hope you start posting again :)
Good to see you happy and enjoying your new role and industry! Xx
that's so interesting! looking forward to more tech content! also, I've started watching you because I needed some motivation to keep up with my law school and you gave me a lot of inspiration to finish it. after graduating, I've decided it's not for me and I've started to learn about design and now I also moved from law to tech and I am currently a ux/ui designer! it's never too late to change your carrer for what's more suitable for you 🌟
This was inspiring to watch because I’m also at a transitional time in terms of work, so thank you!
This was interesting , I’m starting to be interested in corporate things and tech as an option too keep in the back of my mind but I have no idea what life would look like in it so this was helpful
that's AWESOME! let me know if you have any questions!
i enjoy all your content but your departure from humss to the stem field hits so close to home! this is defintiely an interesting vid and i can't wait to watch more of your tech & law comparisons! 💗
ah i loved this video so much. i used to religiously watch your law school vids and this felt like being back watching your week in the life vlogs. pls keep these type of vids coming!
Ah! That makes my heart SWELL! I’d love to!
i highly recommend these types of positions for anyone in ANY industry/field. Management was scary to me as a shy introvert but i LOVE my job and career. I studied film and do a similar job to this in post production (so obvs theres some differences) but a lot of my day is managing my team. everyone is SO nice in both companies ive been in and i couldnt be happier as someone who graduated university feeling so lost
This was such an interesting video. It’s so great to see you happy and content!
Also - LOVE the editing of this video!!! So well done
I'm at a kinda major crossroads in my life right now and watching back all of your videos gave me such a sense of security in that my life may be changing quite drastically right now, but it's for the better and eventually it will all work out in the end. Thank you for sharing your experiences, especially as a queer woman in tech, as that is quite literally me, and i hope you're doing well ❤
loved this video, happy to see you’re enjoying your new job 😊
I won’t lie I didn’t understand half of what you were talking about, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this video haha
I am starting my LPC in two weeks and watching your video makes me want to drop out cause what you're doing right now sounds AMAZING
I'm 3 months into being a project manager and honestly several times in this video i was like OH THATS WHAT I DO!!!!
Love these day in the life from you. Please make more!
As someone on the Tech side, proj manager I followed you for Law because I was so curious on that world, and I love how you’re killin it rn! 🎉
Okay I never comment but. I was studying law and working in tech and eventually gave up studying law and it’s just so cool to see your journey and being on a similar (although I wasn’t a lawyer lol) path to finding something much more my style :) such an enjoyable and relatable video :)
Super proud of you! Do you mind sharing why you made the switch?
I have to admit I don’t understand why do you prefer doing this than being a lawyer! But I am glad that you are happy with your decision. Great video
More interested in building cool tech than reviewing contracts I guess! (No tea no shade oop)
@@EveCornwellChannel would you have felt the same way if you were in litigation instead?
@@EveCornwellChannel I would have thought that you would be more interested in solving the legal issues in the contracts rather than the technical issues of the same contracts, as I understand the company you are working for is basically developing tech which helps and supports lawyers with technical issues e.g. generating contracts. But well, I have just assumed this on the basis of your CZcams videos and how much it seemed like you love law (like I do, that’s why I started to follow you). I personally would not give up ‘law’ for this type of tech job, but we are all different of course. I wish you best of luck for the future xx
@@EveCornwellChannel could you be a human rights lawyer?
Because law is horrendous
This is so cool to watch as someone who is also transitioning to tech without a traditional background, only that I'm actually trying to get a job as a Software Engineer. So so interesting to see this real example of a product manager's work day, to also get an idea of what It would be expected of me!!
I’m over 5 years in tech product management myself, even though I’m late 20s it’s quite a chunk of my career. I felt you represented well the day to day of it and was very relatable. Really enjoyed the video :) you came across too calm and collected though 😅
i studied industrial manager and i would like to be a project manager or a product manager one day, but those two seem impossible without experience. Thank you for showing us the kind of day you have, love your videos.
THIS WAS SO INTERESTING PLS GIVE US MORE
Thank you for this ❤️ I find this so motivating. I finished my law degree ( which is 5 years long in my country) and even though I loved the work, I hated the industry. I’ll be starting my masters in management next month, and hoping to switch to tech. I know it’s going to be hard, but you really helped calm my anxiety a bit :’) all the uncertainty makes me so nervous, but staying in law and being unhappy with the work culture sounds unbearable.
My favourite thing about this video is Eve sliding along the bottom of the screen!
tech is such a vibe isn’t it! I’m an (a)pmm in london and honestly - lovin it everyday.
This video is incredibly insightful and beneficial for aspiring Product Managers like myself, and I'm very appreciate of the time it took to put this together. I especially love the breakdowns of the aims for each type of meeting and how they all fall into the bigger process. Thank you for sharing and I hope to see similar content like this soon :)
What’s your tech background? If you don’t mind me asking
I’m currently in university to do research in the field of psychology, but I’m so so nervous about job prospects. Glad to see that you don’t have to be ‘stuck’ in the profession you chose as a late teen and if you want to switch paths, that’s possible! So no Eve, this wasn’t boring or uninteresting. Very much the opposite is true!!
This was really interesting.
I just made a fairly big switch recently, while still within the same overall sector. Going from an in-house compliance role in an investment bank into consulting has been a massive change. Kind of bringing back the vibes of studying Law with how much regulatory consulting I've been doing.
Good to see you love it so much, I'm sure there's some parallels in the reasoning for it with mine.
Oh my god🥺, Eve. You made my day! I love you.
Thank you for showing us this! I just finished my bachelor in law and now idk what to do with my life. Great to see there's more options than being a lawyer
Currently watching this on my corporate lenovo thinkpad. We're all in this together
ayyee!! congrats on the transition into tech and into product management!! so refreshing to see your day!
Hey! I'm a software engineer and I've been following you for yearsssss. I love this new content xxxxxxxxx
Love the video! especially the storytelling cant wait to see the next more!!
this flat is from what I've seen in the vid beautiful and love listening about life in tech as I'm in tech too
ahhh as a female engineering student this made me so happy. we need more women in this industry
Woah this was great! Please more productivity tips / wfh life, you bring real useful tips
thank you so much for sharing this! I'm graduating soon and i don't want to practice law haha. I've been hesitating to do something in tech because it's a completely different field than law and I've always been so worried if i wasted 4 years of law school and not end up practicing. you gave me hope that it's possible and it's okay for me to explore other things than law! thank you so much!
FINALLY A DAY IN THE LIFE LESSGOOO
