- Pam Ayres recites her poem about the dreaded attic, with fun and humour as usual.
(R) This is the repeated version of Countdown shown the day before or week before if this was shown on a Monday.
I think that she must have gone into my attic by mistake, sounds very similar. Good idea to let the grandchildren sort it out. Brilliant as usual.
Adore Pam her poems are so witty, heartfelt and all can relate to. Clever lady
Oh my gol, those are not poems. Please stop calling that doggerel "poetry". Jaysus
@@john.premose Oh stop being that self-righteous Internet guy and go finish licking your windows.
@@TonyEnglandUK utter philistine
Even as a young un I loved to hear her read her great poems, and you know what I still do, Pam is the People's Poet Laureate.
Glad I found Pam, she is a gem! So clever with words. 😊
I saw her very first TV appearance, she's never changed! Apart from the genius words what I find most endearing is the way she can't help but laugh almost before she utters some magnificent line!
Just wonderful ❤
Oh Pam, that was so true and beautiful. You never miss a beat. Sad, melancholy, but always with a sense of humour thrown in.🌹
All that random rubbish? You call that beautiful? Smh
It’s the simple things in every day life..... so clever 🖋👏🏻
❤️ Pam Ayres
So simple yet poignant and profound. This little verse had me laughing and crying. So powerful.
This Lady is a national treasure. Humour know no bounds, love you Pam Australia xxx
Shirley Hare 👑 She sure is 👑 & the 😂 is so clever & witty
@Maximilian Marcel no we don’t!
Is she Dame Pam Ayres yet? .. England should be proud of her.
I miss the visits by Pam to Australia in the '80s. I wanted to claim her as our own.
Dearest Pam ,your voice, your kind smile xxx .
Lovely Eileen, and thanks for sharing. I've always liked Pam Ayres.
I had the phone in my hand about to call you. I'm waiting for my dinner, Joh & Ml here since Saturday. Didn't see your photo until too late to ring last night, we were watching the golf - well done to Rory & Shane. & of course to the winner.
A big cheer for Kyle, he's so young, and on such a great winning roll. DV he'll be safe & continue to do well in the sport. Chat soon. M
So awesome to hear her.She makes me smile..
No one can write or recite like Pam Ayres, I've been listening to you since I was young and you never fail to bring a belly laugh at the end of the tale. Genius 😊
Notice how she chokes back her emotions when she mentions the pram.
Wow what a deep profound coment on life and unstopple death
She uses pathos n humour intertwined just like life
An un requonised Genius of English Literature
I don't watch countdown but I would guess that it was far more interesting when Pam was on it!
Such a talented lady and all without a hint of profanity so rampant today.
A rare talent
Amazing lady, long may she continue!
richardkingadi 👏🏻 here. here. 👏🏻
She was so very very good at this- thank you for sharing. ♥♥
Just brilliant. :-)
Love your sense of fun Pam.
sweet. thanks for the steadiness of the moon. always new this moment.
Marvelous 🎉as always 😊
I hate ‘poetry’ but love what Pam Ayers does
This brought tears to my eyes 😢
Ann London Ann you are right it is sad, - in a funny kind of way!
It brought back memories of my Father in Law passing. We'd cleared his flat and found 2 crates. Amongst the items were the usual holiday snaps, childish drawings done by his grandchildren and a yellowing one done by his own son as a small child. Feeling touched by the things he had treasured, realising just how much he'd loved his family. Then amongst it all, we found 2 postcards his elder sisters had sent to their Mother when he was a young boy. They'd been having a great time, etc etc and ended saying no need to ask how he"d been behaving. His mischievous & destructive behaviour as a child was notorious in our family stories, we'd even made him laugh by talking about it on his last days. As those cards were passed around the family, even mentioned at his funeral, there were tears laughter, something he would have loved. Pam's poem was great and maybe we should leave something for when we're 6 feet down. X
God she is such a treasure. Surely a sadly missed honouree from the NY Honours list, surely she deserves much more than an MBE?
Are you kidding? A horrible poetaster like this?
@@john.premose you've got a really wierd definition of "horrible". Happily don't live in your world.
@@revbenf6870 no I don't. I am someone who actually knows what poetry is. That's the world I live in which you want no part of.
Wonderful, this maybe about Pam Ayer's British attic but it is also about our Canadian basement. Full of memories and long forgotten treasures that we need sort out; well someday we will!
We both laughed and had tears rolling down our checks. Thank you, just said it all.
John Murray 🤔 we would be lost without those attic / basement rooms..... ?!
Wonderful Lady x
Love that idea, leve it for the kids.😂❤❤❤
Carnt see through tears
Its beautiful
Mark Hodgson & yet 🖊 penned from everyday life!!
I love er! She's the best!
Lovely lady ❤️🦋🌈
Angelica berry She sure is 💕
Wonderful
Brilliant.
Oh my God that's MY attic!!
I wish I could find the one she did about heated curlers or rollers. That was the first one of hers that I remember.
I can almost remember it but not quite.
David Shardlow Oh thank you so much! Now I must write it down so I don't lose it, thank you again 🙏🏻
Lovely😄
How are there dislikes for that? Brilliant
Because it's pure rubbish. I didn't give it a dislike but I can understand why someone would.
No swearing.......how refreshing 😊
As I'm chucking this in the comments, Pam has beat me to it: this is indeed poignant as well as funny.
Should be Poet Laureate.
Stephen Cook 👏🏻 here. here.
I agree
We ha a party here in Montana last night i played Pam on the big screen all evening the yanks laughed their hearts out.
Pam Ayres is as fine a poet as John Betjeman or Ogden Nash but her popularity, and a sort of academic snobbery, stops her from being acknowledged as their equal.
Karl Delavigne I agree
@@poem_kym9406 You're, not 'your'. Doesn't speak much for your qualification as a critic.
@@mrswinkyuk I'd say it's very relevant (and actually reflects quite badly on you) when the topic of discussion is academic snobbery
@@katy3901 "academic snobbery" or getting the basics correct? It's always the same when I call people out on this, as if I'm just being pedantic. It matters because the wrong word can imply a completely different meaning. Grow up.
@@mrswinkyuk I just don't think you need to be so rude. You can be grammatically correct and still act like a nice person.
Should be Dame Pam Ayres poet lauriette
That last part..........my mom's a hoarder, that's exactly what she's gonna do.......Leave it for the kids when she's 6 foot down! lmbo!
Sassy Frassy: I know all about this. Do you suppose your mom might accept assistance in sorting and ‘donating’ ? Good luck.
😂😂👏👏👏
Pam, a mannequin and a self conscious old man?
