    I bought version K557 keyboard in 2016, 5 years later and countless keypresses still rock solid. No fade on keys, everything visible, only noticeable on WASD keys that texture is a bit more polished from my fingertips compared to non-used keys. Also used it for work for past 2 years so 8+ hours a day almost everyday. Really happy with it and will buy another redragon products. They are 2x-3x cheaper compared to others and offers almost same thing.

    In order to use non-outemu switches into the outemu hotswap sockets, you need to mod the switches themselves. In my experience, the best way to get this to work is by clipping the pins of the switch about halfway down. This is because, by default, outemu switches have thinner pins so it is more difficult to fit the pins of a traditional mx style switch in when they are longer. Mileage may vary though. :)

    • @freddiebensonstan7037
      @freddiebensonstan7037 Před 4 lety +3

      Bro are you tripping the switch cases on non-outemu switches are wider than outemu just cutting the pins down won't cut it

    I bought this keyboard like 3 months ago. I got a great discount deal at a local store and was like $45. Overall a great value, but I do have a few issues with the Bluetooth connection. At first all fine, then after a few weeks I started having some issues with connection stability and now 2 months into it, it doesn't work anymore. Not sure what happened, tried troubleshooting and nothing works, so I've been using it wired since then and it works fine. Before this happened, with RGB on battery lasted for around 2 days, without RGB it could be weeks!
    It's comfortable, I think it's a good entry level mechanical keyboard, specially for the price.
    This is my first 60% keyboard and mechanical keyboard for that matter. I like the compact size, ton of space savings in my desk, but I do miss the arrow keys and home, page up and down, end and delete buttons. This is not for productivity, so be aware! It's hard to get used to the function keys, but you'll get there with some time.
    I wish there were more layout options, like ISO. I work in Spanish language and I do feel the need for some missing keys, but that's just me.
    If it weren't for the Bluetooth issue, this would be an awesome budget keyboard (maybe it was just mine)! I've seen others just wired for almost double of what I paid for!
    Good and detailed video!

      @goceltics3207 Před 4 lety +9

      Although the gk61 is very fast, it is not the fastest when it comes to keyboard. I would say the it is the fastest of its price range. The huntsman mini with optical red switches are faster but almost twice as expensive.

    • @razzclatt

      Goceltics 320 true but it bottoms out faster for example steel series apex pro when you put the switch at 1 it actuates faster than the gatorons optical yellows. might not be the fastest but one of the fastest and faster than the razer huntsman mini

      @goceltics3207 Před 4 lety +2

      Crombee I 100% agree with your statement. I will say though in a sense the huntsman is faster than the apex pro. Although the apex pro has a lower actuation point, it takes more force to press down the key and uses magnets instead of light. I know this is off topic of the gk61.

    Absoutely love mine so much , I put together one for my dad with his favorite colors , and O-rings. The custom keycaps and rings cut down "ping" quite nicely , no matter what I do , the spacebar is like smacking a chunk of concrete , but I like that. The only issue I have is in bluetooth mode , when the keyboard shuts down to save battery , sometimes it won't reconnect. It only does it on my PC with a bluetooth dongle , the laptop is fine.

    The thing about the switches is that the holes are smaller than average, Outemu/Redragon switches have skinny contacts that fit the holes, any other brand I am aware of has problems with this (I force installed some Kailh Box Pink on mine and they work fine, but I had some hard time installing them)
