With respect, only someone new to anime would call Naruto the GOAT of anime. Still a definite classic though, just like DBZ, with a huge fanbase. Will y'all get through both Naruto and Shippuden though?? See y'all in 10 years, lol.

@@JodysCorner Yeah, it was a nice surprise to see you start reacting to anime. I followed your GoT reactions with Kode a few years ago - fun times. Naruto is definitely classic and insanely popular anime, but it's kind of "entry-level" and has way too many filler episodes, IMO. It's hard to name a definitive GOAT though since I think in anime especially so much depends on your tastes, sensibilities, and what you prioritize (fights, animation, art style, story, drama, characters, etc).
That said, within the "battle shonen genre" that Naruto is in, I think Yu Yu Hakusho, Hunter x Hunter (so good choice), and Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal are among the GOATs as is One Piece though I'm still catching up with the manga. In other genres, I think Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Monster, Madoka Magica, Stein's Gate, the main Fate series, Re:Zero, Code Geass, Attack on Titan (not too pleased with the last arc though), Made In Abyss, and Haikyu are also among the GOATs in their own ways.

Dbz is trash compared to later anime. Nostalgia is all dbz got, most of us started anime with dbz so it's understandable. But one piece is the goat...sales don't lie lol

What Star Wars is to Scifi is what Dragon Ball Z is to anime. Simply iconic. Even if you've never seen Star Wars you know what a jedi and a lightsaber is, even if you've never watched Dragon Ball Z you know what a Super Saiyan is. The one-liners, the designs, the fights, the villains, the music, the simple story telling that's easy to keep up with is what made Dragon Ball Z is so groundbreaking. It literally set the standards, so I expect nothing less than future anime to take what DBZ did and be better than it.
Dragon Ball and One Piece are better. Period.

I’d say that narratively Naruto is better, but when it comes to the story and the execution of the story, DB n DBZ is superior, the ending of shippuden killed the story they perfectly built
