In school we sing it Shalom Chaverim Shalom Chaverim Shalom,Shalom. Till we meet again till we meet again Shalom,Shalom. Also I'm not from Israel I'm from us but I learned it in school
We had a student teacher for music at my grade school. She taught us this song. I thought of it this morning and found this great rendition!! Too young to understand what a rich song we were being taught and where it came from. Loved the melody and still remember it (40+ years later) and sing it! Great to know now what it means!!
We learned this song from a former teacher, Mr. Frits Rosenbaum, at primary school. He was known for his tall stately stature and his long white beard.
This is really random but in my last year of elementary school i made a friend when we sang this in class, we used to eye each other from across the room and giggle at the high “shalom shalom” part because somebody’s voice would crack every time, sadly she moved shortly after so i haven’t talked to her for several years but this song always brings back that good memory 😂
JESUS, if HE'S your Lord, your Brother, your King, your GOD! Grafted into the olive tree. Into the commonwealth of lsrael. Good to talk with you, cousin Nina!!!
My kindergarten teacher in 1985 was named Mrs. Schrieber (she said it rhymed with spider 🕷) She was a very traditional Jewish woman short and kind. She taught us this song at the Kindercare Learning Center (a very multi cultural daycare at the time) which may have been in the heart of the Jewish community. The words were different “Shalom, good friend. Shalom good friend. Til once more we meet. Shalom.” For some reason these words have not left my mind in over 35 years 🥰 Thank you Mrs Schrieber ❤️ Til once more we meet 🕊
The first time I hear this peacefull song I was five years old. It was on the sunday school and nobody at home know that I was going there. I didn’t told this at home because nobody know about Jesus. Later in my life I choose to be a child of God and sometimes when I feel alone I hear this song the whole day in my haert. Thanks to God and thanks to the adults in the sunday school, who welcome’s me when I was in need ❤️ Every time I heard this song it is still a homecoming moment in the house of God
I remember this song in my elementary days...we sing this song every Friday after our class in the afternoon. We bid goodbye to our classmates and teachers for a happy weekend.😊 I love this song!
OMG this song popped up in my head after literally 20+ years after singing this in school choir. Haven't heard it since. I only remembered the first part. Decided to look it up. HAHAHA!!! Thx for posting!! I love CZcams!!
I have to do it as a solo. I'm not the type of person that does solos. My mom doesn't even care that I'm terrified. She just said if I did something wrong (I really don't remember), no more electronics for the rest of the year.

Imagine how many times the Hebrew Nation has sung this as they journeyed, of necessity. Never to see their homes, neighbors & children/parents ever again... reminds me of 'Fiddler on the Roof' as they are once again dispersed. Wow....😶
Like many others i remember being taught this in Junior School (as it was called back then) by the music teacher, when i was about 8 or 9 years old. It's stayed with me all these years and I've used it as a lullaby when babysitting small children
I was raised a Unitarian Universalist and heard this song at church services. (Unitarian Universalist churches will expose you to the Jewish teachings.)
