  • In a celebration of unity and culture, the ‘Chitrakavyam Ramayanam’ exhibition was inaugurated with a radiant lamp lighting ceremony. Mr. Jeevan Thondaman, Hon’ble Minister of Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure Development, Sri Lanka, Chief Guest Smt. Meenakashi Lekhi, Hon’ble Minister of State for External Affairs & Culture, Government of India, and Dr. Sanjeev Kishor Goutam, Director-General of the National Gallery of Modern Art, graced the occasion.
    Smt. Meenakashi Lekhi emphasized the Ramayana’s significance as a unifying force in the South East Asian Region, while Mr. Jeevan Thondaman expressed gratitude for witnessing art’s influence in preserving cultural heritage. Dr. Sanjeev Kishor Goutam remarked that ‘Chitrakavyam Ramayanam’ stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of the epic. Through its eclectic collection, the exhibition aims to inspire dialogue, appreciation, and reflection on the timeless themes of the Ramayana. This event not only commemorates our shared cultural heritage but also emphasizes the importance of people-to-people connections in strengthening civilizational and cultural links between Sri Lanka and India.
