  • Highlights from the Sand Mandala Project at the Blanton Museum of Art, January 9-13, 2013
Tibetan Buddhist monks from the Drepung Loseling Monastery constructed a 5-foot mandala with millions of grains of colored sand in the Blanton's Rapoport Atrium. At the conclusion of the project, the monks dismantled the piece in a special ceremony signifying the impermanence of all that exists, and then dispersed the sand into a nearby creek.
