Its been a year since the previous WCH Mechanical Bell Cantilever and old traffic signal was knocked down as they both were knocmed down by a right turning truck back in late Feb 2023. The 4th replacement Cantilever currently was installed 7 months after in Sep 2023 3 since 2020 and finally a year after the incident, a new traffic signal was installed Mar 2024 and all temp signals are gone, for now... So far no effective efforts have been made to prevent right turning trucks at the 34th St and Stockton intersection corner that trucks are still taking illegal right turns even though there are signs saying to not to and in fact this day caught one on video going in the opposite lanes to avoid hitting the cantilever and almost went in front of the train. Give it a year or mayne sooner, the cantilever will be destroyed. SACRT would of nearby spent a million on cantilevers for this crossing when they have to install another one money that could have gone to projects that SACRT already starting late on. One thing I didn't like about SACRT and the city is that with the system, they would let a problem persist umtil they fix it simular to running our light rail cars to their last leg constantly breaking down causing service disruptions until they finally got to uodating the system and getting new cars while other light rail systems were modified years ago. This situation at this crossing is making this crossing an annoying one. I thought my hopes wouldn't make it into the video...
Sacramento light rail trains pass through the Stockton Boulevard and 34th Street intersection railroad crossing.

It doesn't matter how many signs you put up prohibiting right turns. They are completely useless if truck drivers straight up ignore them. They really need to rebuild the area the signals are on and add protective barriers to keep trucks from damaging the signals.

Nice series of videos! If Sacramento and Caltrans aren't going to try to fix the intersection, I still wish that SACRT would at least replace the US&S E-Bell with another Siemens High Pitch E-Bell and change the bell sequence to ring until the gate rises, so that the crossing sounds like how it did in 2021.

5:45 Oh my god, seriously dude!? I seriously hope they're not hiring truckers based on DEI. Merit is strongly needed for driving such a large vehicle.

Goodness why are people still taking that illegal right turn

Is there a way the city can widen and extend S st from 34th st to 35 st so vehicles don't get tempted to make illegal right turns crossing two tracks each? A few times while I'm on the train I see cars being offsides crossing over the big white line not only on the Stockton Blvd/34th St but also on the HWY 16/Folsom Blvd before the train arrives thus the train operator has to sound its horns. One problem got solved over a decade or so ago with the South Watt Ave having to create a overhead rail crossing. But I don't know if it has to take more future accidents to cause another overhead crossing to be built in the future thus wasting city money. What are your solutions?

Do some of the bells shut off after the gates lower?

The newer signal at that corner has both a GS Type 3 and US&S E-Bells that shut off when the gate is lowered while the rest of the bells keep ringing till the gates start rising. The US&S E-Bell doesn't work however right now. Might work again when we get warmer weather.

The truck drivers have to be punished by cops somehow

It would have been simple enough to put a sign saying all right turn traffic must use r st

They do far back behind me on 34th Street but everyone ignores it. They should put a height restrictive barrier and close this being a truck route.
