    I just wanted to say I just completed this costume and it is my FIRST COSPLAY EVER. Very challenging for someone like me whose never used a sewing machine before and I wanted to thank you SO MUCH because I would have never had any clue what to do if it were not for you! Thank you!

    I was just looking up visual reference for my own Harley cosplay and was looking at an article called "A Visual History of Harley Quinn" and there was a collection of cosplayers in it, and I found you in the mix!

    by the measurement chart on the website the Large was a big big by a few inches for me, but according to the bust and hips it was huge, but ended up fitting me snugly length-wise when i put it on. Height is the most important and if you can get that a little to big it's perfect. and i know from past experience, the first harley bodysuit i made I ordered 2 medium suits and they ended up being waaaaay to small by the time i cut them up and sewed them back together.

  • @AxcelerationDesigns
    @AxcelerationDesigns  Před 10 lety +13

    And if you look closer at that body suit you'll also notice that it is dreadful, and a horrible recreation of the character's bodysuit. But you prefer taking it easy then by all means. My tutorial is for those who appreciate good costuming and staying true to the character.

  • @AxcelerationDesigns
    @AxcelerationDesigns  Před 11 lety

    indeed. i did think of that, but for me, it really is easier to make it all one piece. that way i'm not worried about the gloves moving or showing my skin, i know they're always right where they need to be. as for eating and touching things...i dont have an iphone so i don't the touch of skin to dial or text. and when we go out for lunch i always carry a shirt in my backpack, take off the top part of my costume and put the shirt on. that way i can eat and am not worried about it getting dirty.

    Milanoo has always worked for me and all my friends who purchase from their website. I'm only suggesting what worked for me. Everyone is welcome to do their research and maybe find something better (in quality and price) and if they do I'd love to hear it :]

  • @AxcelerationDesigns
    @AxcelerationDesigns  Před 11 lety

    the suits i bought were a lycra/spandex blend so yeah. definitely test it out on a scrap fabric and adjust the tension on your machine if you have to. I had to play around with the settings the first time I used the fabric and needles to find the right combos.

  • @AxcelerationDesigns
    @AxcelerationDesigns  Před 11 lety +2

    fabric would totally work. It's just a little more work and I like the bodysuits mainly because I want everything to match and i couldn't find a good fabric that i liked. The bodysuits are made of spandex. Any time of spandex / polyester or blend of the two will do. anything stretchy really. I personally liked the shiny look, but you can go with a matte fabric, anything you like :]

  • @Kurjakk
    @Kurjakk Před 10 lety

    Right now Walmart has the exact fabric that the body suites you used are made out of. I made two Harley costumes one out of each side of the body suits so they look yin and yang for me and my sister. So being able to buy more fabric for the hat and the diamonds and the shoes was really helpful.

    I actually found a really strong stretch crushed velvet in the PERFECT colors at JoAnn Fabrics. Just make sure whatever fabric you use, make sure it stretches the right way (I preferred a horizontal stretch to a vertical stretch since I was just making a costume and not something to do acrobatics in) before you cut it.

    Thank you for your comment but I've never had a problem with milanoo. They deliver within 1-2 weeks of my purchase and the only reason mine has ripped is because I cut up the body suits and my seams broke.
    I took a look at the river's edge dancewear site and their "Harley" unitard was not accurate at all. The other unitards don't have feet or hoods either and are the same price as milanoo. I agree it is better to buy US, but as far as poor quality, milanoo has never let me down.

    Love your work on the costume! One thing I want to ask about is the gloves. Wouldnt it make more sense to have them separate from the body suit? You could use finger loops to keep the sleeves snug and the ruffle to cover the cuff of the glove. That way you can easily replace the glove if it gets damaged. (you'll be holding things, touching things, etc and they will get damaged). Just a thought. Cheers!

    For the most part since spandex is so stretchy it's usually very comfy :]
    secondly, about panties... I personally HATE panty lines i think it looks trashy and ruins a costume! I know in this vid you can see my boyshorts >< but I do have special undies just for this costume. I got them from Victoria's Secret and they are 'seamless' so look for those for any tight bodysuit costume.
    Soon I'm going to make a 'guide to underwear' video that will answer all these types of questions :]

    Hey Axceleration Cosplay! I followed this tutorial when making my Harley costume, and I was wondering how you wash your costume? I made mine about a year ago and have worn in 4-5 times and needless to say I can't put off cleaning it any longer! (cringes)
    I tried throwing a scrap piece of the fabric into the washing machine and saw nearly /all/ the color wash out. How do you keep yours clean and bright and colorful?

    i really wouldn't suggest cosplaying Harley for your first time. it's literally my most difficult costume both to make and to wear. i would really suggest an easier costume. Pick a character with a costume that you can buy something for then alter. wigs are also expensive so I'd pick a character that you wouldn't need one for. Pokemon characters are great first time costumes. save Harley for when you have the money and ability to make it (get a machine!!). You'll thank your self later :]
