CG 1 I just said the same thing on other sites. Waylon rebelled against the Nashville Sound and always felt the new stuff would eventually encounter the same resistance. Simpson is the best hope real country fans have. Johnson and Stapleton are great too but this guy's special. If he can keep selling and get "ultra hot" bro country will (hopefully ) have breathed it's last breath. It's not that he sounds like Waylon (he does) it's the edginess and intensity. He so reminds me of 75 era Waylon. Bottom line:Great Artist
@@tommypetersen2540 ...... Sturgill Simpson is now my officially new hero. i love tradional c ountry music, i love country music , old rock, lite rock and some new stuff, but Sturgill Simpson music can't be defined as just country music.
@@YouggleItifnyacantfixit-BR549 Ive been browsing thru different country music channels and came across Dave Cobb as a music producer, and then latched on to this video. I have attached a link of one of my Original tracks. “My Valentine 2018” czcams.com/video/cLgMrEkdfhI/video.html I would like to know how I can showcase my talents and be recognized as a country songwriter/singer as I have quite a few such compositions. Please if you could take a listen and get back to me. Ill be mighty obliged. This is Quentin from Bangalore India.
The Cobb name has done so much justice to great country music these days. Some of, if not the best country album’s produced by Dave and some of the best country music written by Brent.
I get the sense that Sturgill is a stand up guy with a low tolerance for bull shit. He just has his own standards and strongly defended boundaries. I find him refreshing, authentic and slightly intimidating.
IT'S NICE TO SEE GREAT MUSICIANS LIKE STURGILL SIMPSON KEEPING OUTLAW COUNTRY ALIVE AND BURYING THAT CRAP THAT PEOPLE PLAY ON THE RADIO AND CALL COUNTRY
very rarely will i even turn the truck radio on the supposed country music channels. but every time i do once every 6 0r 8 months i hear the same crap. top 40 country is and has been dead to me for years. i like what i like, but i love what i love. Sturgill Simpson is my hero.
One of my biggest regrets was not getting into Sturgill sooner. Was set to see him in Washington just as covid kicked off. Never got the chance to see him live.
there definitely on point with the acoustic sound part, however, sturgill can flat pick with the best of them!! i think! there is always something, someone BETTER, but the old style like "the band" with the MIC. stuck in the DRIVERS ACOUSTIC GUITAR IS JUST FUCKING GENIUS!!!! country radio is starving for that old sound I don't know how many times I've stuck the first album in the truck cd player and people INSTANTLY ASK WHAT IS THAT?? old haggard, old waylon! WHO IS THAT??? trust me it's happening daily!!!! i hope that is what sturgill wants because they nailed it!!!!
0:54 The resemblance is uncanny. Been listening to SS for a few years and always thought he sounded quite a bit like Waylon but never realized how much he LOOKS just like Waylon
i've had many upon many to tell me to listen to this man's music for years, finally a few months ago i listened, dam, dam, damn. how have i made 60 years without Sturgill Simpson's music...? man i can do stupid stuff.
One of the main reasons I love Sturgill, besides his amazing music, is the fact that I kind of feel like I know him. I don’t really know him, but the fact that he’s done three or four podcast with Joe Rogan allows you to feel a bit more connected to him.
Someone needs to help me (please)... where can I find the recordings they're playing in the background? I haven't seen or heard this session, it sounds fantastic though!
Sarah Jones-Harris he actually grew up around Versailles. He was born in Jackson and his family moved up there due to his fathers job as an undercover narcotics agent
this is the di he runs through. and also the pickup is actually a microphone called a "lyric" its installed into the guitar. www.lrbaggs.com/preamps-di/venue-di-acoustic-preamp check out my bands page! lesterslade.bandcamp.com/
i stopped cutting my hair bout 15 -- 18 years...? beard to, been years, always hated shaving. my brothers at first didn't know who i was last time seeing-em, my family probably couldn't pick me out of a line up.
I probably have different political leanings, but I dig how you aren't afraid of being squashed by the bullshit and express yourself from a solid place. also your music is beautiful and all this combines nicely. Maybe if you're secure and don't care if the bigwigs are ruffled and you got the chops it just melds and meets up with the goal. anyway I only discovered you through the dead don't die and you rock.
With every song this guy sings you can hear bro country dying that much more. Get em Sturgill

Why am I getting this big Ron Swanson vibes from Sturgill in this video in particular
Jackson ky is about 45 mins from me, wish I woulda known, I would've tried like hell to sing and play my guitar with him. 😍
Sarah Jones-Harris he actually grew up around Versailles. He was born in Jackson and his family moved up there due to his fathers job as an undercover narcotics agent
STURGILL....THIS IS COUNTRY... AT ITS BEST.
Sturgill Simpson: The psychedelic reincarnation of Hank Williams, and the modern day John The Baptist of Country Music. 🙌🏻👨🏻🚀🙌🏻🥰
when he talks about piezo and getting something installed in his guitar, is he talking about internal mics?
Dane H what???
Dane H did you find the answer what he is/was using exactly?
What are the acoustic pickups he's talking about? I can't understand him.
this is the di he runs through. and also the pickup is actually a microphone called a "lyric" its installed into the guitar.

This is great and everything, but how's he getting that vocal distortion ONLY on certain syllables he's singing?
So what is it that he's using in his guitar? Anthem or Lyric system?
Lyric w/ Venue DI
he's using, LOVE. pure unadulterated L-O-V-E.
Wish these guys didn’t have a falling out. To my knowledge he’s really the only artist that has spoken out against Dave.
So did I miss something? What was the pickup system he's using? Did they mention it?
That’s why I’m here toO
Whats the song in the beginning
redbilly45 life of sin
It's called "A little light" off his first album.
Blue Duck I know this is 4 years later but “a little light” is off of his second album
Martin D28 is a great guitar…
I feel ya Sturgill. I get a haircut twice a year only because the wife likes it shorter
i stopped cutting my hair bout 15 -- 18 years...? beard to, been years, always hated shaving. my brothers at first didn't know who i was last time seeing-em, my family probably couldn't pick me out of a line up.
So...which pickup is it?p
LR Baggs Lyric, not a pickup
Shades of Waylon..
Good old D- 28
