    • @davidcolantuono3622
      @davidcolantuono3622 Před 4 lety +1

      I envy you. I once had a tarantula, but it didn't cure my arachnophobia. It's a long story, but basically, there was an accident and it later died. I love how beautiful they are when I see images or videos of them online, but in person, I get freaked out by them.
      The only spiders that I'm okay with...provided there isn't an infestation of them...are the common house spiders, jumping spiders (they are insanely cute and adorable), daddy long legs, harvestmen (although they aren't actually spiders...just closely related), wolf spiders (smaller cousins of tarantulas), fishing spiders (I've been told they are often mistaken for wolf spiders), and one poisonous species...black widow spiders.
      Funny story about my comfort level regarding black widow spiders. At my former home, there used to be a black widow spider in my bedroom every once in a while. While I was initially tense at the first sight of her, I realized that she wasn't going to attack me as long as I didn't provoke her into doing so. They are timid and shy creatures, and they usually only bite as a last resort if they are unable to run away from danger. So, for the longest time, I let her stay in my bedroom while I slept. I trusted her not to bite me and she trusted me not to provoke her. It obviously worked out for the two of us. Otherwise, I would have been dead a while back and I would not be here right now to type this.
      So, that's where I currently stand on my irrational phobia. Large and/or poisonous spiders (except black widows) freak me out. Of course, if there's an infestation of *ANY* spiders, even the ones I'm okay with, then they also freak me out. I know that I'm weird that way, but I can't help it. I wish I could overcome my arachnophobia and cure it. If (and, that's a very big "IF") I can be calm around a large infestation of the most dangerous spiders on Earth, then I will be cured of it. Until then, however, I'm afraid that I'm stuck with it.

    I am only familiar with Chilean Rose Hair Tarantulas as I’ve had one for years now as a pet. How is it caring for a Mexican Red-Knee Tarantula? What needs do they have? What foods do they eat?

    • @yawningmunky2593

      Crickets, Dubia roaches, and mealworms. They only need a hide, and a water bowl, lots of substrate for burrowing.

      I have never been bitten by her in the 10 or 11 years I've had her.
      I have been told it's just like a bee sting but way way less painful.
      They have venom but it does nothing to humans.
      I do understand you as I have always been interested in spiders as well.

      iiSara MSP all Tarantulas bite .. they al have different personalities I think so you may Get a calm one like this or a crazy Girl like mine who loves to try n attack me when I even touch her enclosure 😂 most of them are very docile but if you’re lucky enough you’ll Get a crazy one

      Guilio McEwan's Space not being confrontational but that's completely incorrect, anything with a mouth can bite, also, while they are very docile, the E Campestratus (pink Zebra beauty) is the most docile, however they are difficult to find, I got mine from net bug.
      I have a Mexican red knee, Mines very sweet I've never been bitten, she's never kicked hairs, and I've never gotten a threat posture, that being said, I respect her and her body language, anytime I open her enclosure I do it quietly and slowly, I use a clean makeup brush to gently stroke her abdomen and back legs, then I'll put it in front of her, if she doesn't respond aggressively to any of that I'll put my hand in front of her and gently push her toward my hand with the brush, if she moves ill handle her (on the floor or on my bed), if she resists moving forward I respect her and leave her alone.

    • @14Mentalist
      @14Mentalist  Před 5 lety +2

      hello.
      if you are getting it from a baby then just the smallest tank you can find half a foot by half a foot.
      makes it easier to catch its food.
      then you will see it grow molt and then move on to bigger tanks.

      it depends as this was filmed after cleaning her out. so she had a lot of airflow around her.

    The older these get the more they want to flick. I have a pair almost ready for mating. "Pebbles and Bam Bam". And I noticed all the critics in here bitching about handling and substrate etc. Geezus people get a life already!! I am so amazed that these beautiful creatures were able to make it for billions of years before we stepped in and started telling everyone how fragile they are....they can handle being held 5 inches off the damn ground. not to mention the crying about substrate.... do they have us out in their natural environment fixing their dirt levels etc? NO they do not and they manage just fine so take a chill pill and do not come to other peoples videos bitching.

    Oh man, I *do not* like those kicking motions *or* that speed! And the music’s not helping much, either! Other than that, I’d say Red Knees are one of the only types of tarantulas I’m kinda chill with, being an arachnophobe.
