How is it that a song that came out 52 years ago still sounds so fresh? I’ll never grow tired of this song.
First time I heard this song was in a tiny apartment, snowed in on LSD. Mom had bought it for me on an old vinyl and man I was just awash with love at this sound. Grew up listening to Pink Floyd but didn't realize how much I missed through the years. You are right, half a century old and fresh as new grass.

@@unomeecj I think it has to do with Bill Shankly in Liverpool. The YNWA lyrics in the beggining, middle and end of the song are not a coincidence, and it nailed in the coffin when you think about it because Liverpool because the biggest powerhouse in England after Shanks
Meddle, in my opinion, truly is Pink Floyd's magnum opus. This song, San Tropez, and Echoes got me through so many tough times and bored moments. All I can do is sit and appreciate.

This is the album that truly turned them into "Pink Floyd." They went from psychedelic to prog rock.
Don't get me wrong: I love psychedelic PF, too.

I lost my brother in 2005 to a life long struggle with mental illness leading to an accidental overdose. For the longest time, “my song” to connect with him was “Wish You Were Here” (still is, but, now shares that place with this song). Flying home from Colorado a few years ago, I played this song on repeat for the 2.5 hr flight and vividly remember the feeling of soaring through the clouds with him. I have never felt more connected to him… I will forever be grateful for the times that Pink Floyd has allowed me to let go of my inhibitions, my sadness, my anger, my regrets, and self doubt. I hope to see him again one day and if I’m lucky, this song will be playing when I do. ❤

I think it'll go down as their best song eventually. It's right in the sweet spot before they added electronic effects where it was all acoustic but they were putting more effort into structured song composition and high fidelity audio engineering. The progenitor to Allan Parsons and his Quadrophonic creations. On the cusp of a musical revolution in the same recording studio as The Beatles taking notes from each other.

I've used it as a test track when listening to new speakers and other home audio gear, and left more than one salesperson adding it to their test playlist. That bass drop is the definitive test of good bass response. If it doesn't make my knees buckle, it's not set up correctly.

Summer of 1972 in the night, I was riding around in a 57 Chevy in southwest Tennessee. The car was equipped with an 8 track tape and four sets of headphones. The tape was PinkFloyd Meddle. A little Mary Jane and it was a ride I’ll never forget, watching the lights flicker through the trees in the country woods and hearing music that blew me away.

My father fell to the ground at his home in 2021. I played this song about 17 times on a 5 hour trip back home. So much watery eyes I could barely see through the dark mountains.

This album was my introduction to Floyd. I have been grateful ever since.
Early 80s, pre internet, I was in my early teens and bought this album on a whim, had never heard it and wasn't disappointed, still have the vinyl.
I am glad I discovered this song today. Its so amazing.

@@gustavoalvarez7552 Check out Obscured by Clouds if you haven't yet. It followed and has a similar vibe to Meddle, minus any 20-minute tracks that eat up half the record. I'll typically listen to them in sequence (Meddle-Obscured), since it would have made an awesome double album had it been released that way.
Back around 1977, I used to play this at night just before I went to sleep. I 'washed away' whatever hung on to me from the day's activities. The very end of that song is hypnotic.

This is one of the albums that i and others use to blast out in our rooms in the Swanage hotel that i worked in right through the 1970s,a beautiful album with wonderful memories.

I just love how like the guitar picks back up with the YNWA chant and then back into that great little bridge and the words and the harmonies… Pink Floyd man, legendary🫶 music has always been my escape.

Had a dream a few years ago, don't remember it but when I woke up I had the end of this song playing in my head with the chanting at the end and everything. I spent the entire day trying to figure out what it was and when I did, realized I don't even know the last time I had heard this. My brain must have pulled this out of some random corner of my memory from years ago. I surely have not let myself forget it again.
