- iRacing Mazda MX-5 at Okayama Circuit Gameplay.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey guy's! In today's video I get back into iRacing and some more action in the Mazda MX-5's. I found this Okayama circuit very tricky and wasn't able to lap under 1:50 so if anyone has any tips, then please do let me know in the comments!

First thing I would improve, is your braking. You are braking too hard and too sudden for this car(all cars are different). You can kinda hear that you are locking the wheels a bit and since you are immediately releasing it upsets the car. Don't tap the brake several times into a corner, but instead work on getting it more fluid. Smooth is usually fast :) -guy with a pro license and 10 years of sim experience.
Agreed, brake is not an on off switch, best thing i did early on is learning to squeeze on and off the brake instead of just jumping on it
I fully agree. If you watch some very fast guys they usually go only to 50-60% brake. Also by releasing the brake gradually the car isn't upset and you don't have to wrangle the car back to where you want it to be. With this method you can carry maximum and consistent speed into the corner, even trail-braking to rotate the car when the front end is understeering.
At 1:29 we saw one car blow his engine, caused by aggressive downshifting. The brakes are good enough, they don't need assistance by downshifting. Personally I use what I call half/half/half. Gauge the distance covered in braking, half way down, downshift. Then the next half of that (1/4 of the total braking distance), downshift again, repeat. Never blew an engine, never any problems.
Gentle is smooth, smooth is fast.
That's why the guy is out braking you. If you hear the tires, you are braking to hard. On my g27 with brake scaling at 0, i barely touch the pedal.
Agree with everyone else here. Squeeze the brake pedal on to about 50-60% instead of mash it. And what you'll find is you'll slow down just as good or even better. And with less abrupt weight transfer, you'll be able to turn into the corners sooner and faster at-speed. But then remember as you're going faster in the turns, you have to squeeze the throttle pedal on instead of mashing it on.
One car you can drive to help you fix this is the Skip Barber car. It'll force you to drive right. :) And then when you hop back into the MX5, it'll be much easier.
+Anders Dahl I watched video and Im thinking I go to comment section to write this to him, seems nice guy, also clean so I hope he will stick with iracing and learn something.Just be smooth, keep momentum in MX5 and brake little less,no so hard and sort and more important dont lift brake so hard because when you do that you usually you do that in corner entry and when you lift hard weight goes back and you have understeer. But you will learn if you still didnt,i hope you did :) sry for my english.good luck
I love how in the beginning the Lego car is spazzing out and bouncing all over the place and super gt is just acting like its normal
+Flavio A I've seen it all before, bouncing defence is something I've grown used to.
It's called lag. From 20 cars on track it is inevitable that some will have a crappy connection.
I know what its called. Thanks for the infi
yeah trouble is is standard on iracing its sometimes infuriating, i had a race where the pit crew told me i was in first turns out the guy dissapeared at the start and re appeared at the end lol
Who got this recommended to them in 2021? 😂 Still great job man, I hope to see more gameplay like this from you. I mean you are mostly on GT Sport and almost never in iRacing.
I agree I would love to see him play some more iracing or acc he is one of my favorite channels him and no punterino jimmer lol
"The Bounce Defense Method"
I'm in tears.
Great stuff! More iRacing the game is fking awesome!
The best advice I could give you is when you practice, you can get any replays on any guys out there. So get the one whos is the fstest, get the 3rd personn camera and analyse his line and pace. Now from my experience, I am doing about 1,48 at this track, you need to be smoother on the brake especially when you don't need to put too much pressure to keep the car more stable. also you need to upshift to get better corners, i have noticed it on the second turn (4TH instead of 3RD) and same on the corner before the final one (you need to upshift just at the apex).
Hope it will help you but the best thing is to practice and practice again...Also get out of the rookie asap and try to get to C class at least to have a wider range of races and better drivers
PS: sorry for my English but I am French.
+perrigot alexandre Thank you for the advice, I think my gear shifting and braking are my two prime weaknesses at this point so I will be working both.
Your steering inputs are nice and smooth. Braking with some of these cars with ABS can be weird. You wanna try to get max braking (%100) for the first second or so of braking for a tight hairpin (in a straight line of course). Then ease off the brake as you turn in the car, %80, then barely any or none as you get the car to the apex. I know its hard to be smooth with the brakes, but that is key as well. Keep the vids coming
+Dirk Diggler Thank you for the tips, will definitely have to change my style on the brakes.
Hey man, nice to see you've taken an interest in iRacing! A little pro-tip for the starts is to put the car in first gear, hold the clutch, then dump the clutch at the green. If you don't have a physical clutch pedal then you can just map the clutch to a button. :)
nice video like always! keep up the good work :)
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this, but on that track, you want to attack the curbing on those off camber turns. That can be seen for turn 2, the three after the hair pin on the back straight, and the last corner. You can also trail brake into those well.
It was actually your last iracing video that finally convinced me to take the plunge and I don't think I've been on Forza or Dirt since. My experience is pretty much limited to skip barber so far but if I have any advice to give it's get out of rookies and into the skippy.
+Dicky Holmes Good to hear that I've inspired you to get this game too!
I haven't watched the video yet but already know it's going to be great, just like al your video's.
+Dr Trayaurus Cheers bud =)
nice one, subscribed..keep'em comin
Nice video. I mostly stuck with oval racing because those Mazda MXs felt like I was driving on ice lol.
Hit Tab a few times, it's the best way to understand your corner performance. Great series SGT, very easy to be a pro on arcade racers, very different and brave to go into contention with iRacing. Your first iR win will be the sweetest victory ever, too!
Thanks for the tip! I actually won my first and second race! But those were in rookies against, well, rookies!
good race man, love the action without the rammers. good luck with your iRacing career!
+pensftmfw Cheers mate!
Id love to see you progress through the career
Your get better with the more experience you get..practice makes perfect!
The fact that relative doesn't update straight away can be useful sometimes for example if one of the front runners spin and end up infront of you when you're 10th it lets you know they were recently the race leaders so it can help you decide if it might be worth letting them stay infront so you can let them tow you along to overtake more drivers.
love iracing. i do mostly oval, its a completely different experience and if you can get through rookies oval it gets fun hope you try it also hope you get more cars and enjoy the experience!
and yeah , that track is tuff for me as well, same turns :)
Watching eerieissss, it seems the most important thing is to keep clean and get you rating to 4.0
Just wanted you to know, that you have got to be the most entertaining videogame racer to watch on CZcams! I do have a question...... have you had a chance to check out Gran Turismo on the PS4? If so, what's your opinion? Thank you and keep up the great gameplay and videos!
+jim burdeshaw Thanks mate, great to hear! I'm following GT Sport with some interest and might even get a PS4 if it's an alright game.
As another hint, do some Oval racing too. Yeah it may not be your cup of tea, but youll be surprised how much it helps your situational awareness and wreck avoidance. Also helps with running close to people at speed.
+Ben Gregory Absolutely. A whole new type of racing in itself with different skills required. Might be worth having a few ovals races for sure.
But be aware if you are "UK and Ire" racing Ovals the Americans will gang up and wreck you! A nudge here, a rub there = wall time!
Good race though, and as others have suggested, be smoother on the brakes. 'Trail brake' the turns as much as you can, this track encourages a lot of trail braking.
Good luck, might see you on there some time.
:D
Daniel Storey
Only because we kick their ass every time in the iRacing World Cup.
One thing that really helps this car turn in is getting of the brake the more you turn in (trailbreaking)
And you might would want to turn of driver hands in the graphics/replay options so that the wheel doesnt stop after 90° of Rotation :P
I love this, but is there any chance when you play a sim like this, you could bring back the wheel cam you had for a little while last year?
Just by chance if it hasn't been mentioned . Look up IRacing Setup Sync . It will let you choose setups that drivers have created and uploaded and can really help if you need to gain a few hundredths . Its a little complicated at first but you will figure it out soon enough . Also , I'd like to see you do some street stock races as well . Those can be a lot of fun and a nice break from the stresses of road racing ! Love your channel , and keep it between the concrete !
+Drunk_Mercenary Cheers mate! Will check the setups out if I get some time.
Cool , I sent you a friend request in game . My name is Mark Mitchem . Just by chance you have any questions feel free to shoot me a message .
the curbing is a good indication of track in and track put positions
Another good run man. You thought about the next car you want to run in D class? I would recommend Spec Racers, Skip Barbers and maaaybe the Kia if you like BTCC.
+Ben Gregory Havn't really thought about it yet but thanks for the suggestions!
You should also make sure your FOV is set correctly. What kind of screen do you use? (and how far is it away from you?)
iRacing does have a built in calc. It might make it kinda low if you have a small screen but it'll make it soooo much easier to drive consistantly.
good advice
Nice racing and a great edit for the video. Do you know why the lap count shows as 15/300 in the relative screen at the end?
It's a 25 minute race so it just puts 300 laps as you'll never reach that many before the 25 minutes are over.
That turn you lost it in is actually a bit off camber, meaning it is banked toward the outside of the turn instead of the inside. as you can see it is very easy to get loose in those types of turns. Always keep an eye out for them when running new tracks :)
With the Mazda.. I had the same issue you had with the brakes.. Try to not use so much brake pedal because it will lead to a lock up. You want to try using very little throttle when on the brakes. Apply the well known method Slow In Fast Out. I ran into this video on CZcams and thought I'd give little advice. This is coming from also a WCS F1 driver for Vortex SimRacing.
Man, this really looks like a fpv of a racer in real life, nice job Super GT
+hanz cruz Cheers bro!
To start with you need to be shifting earlier, max torque it usuall in the green and it's where you wanna stay as often as possible shifting on the last green or first yellow light. You should also be letting off the throttle when shifting if you're not using a manual clutch and H-Pattern shift for the car.
On the plus side from what i see your lines are quite alright, anything can be improved, just practice. good luck, maybe we'll race someday =)
Thanks very much for the tips!
Have you tried Asseto Corsa? and if you did are you gonna make videos about it soon? Thanks for the very amazing content.
+Bullet 4 Justice Havn't tried it yet but looking to get it at some point soon.
Are you playing any iRacing these days? Or, just sticking to Gran Turismo?
Check the newer iRacing videos
a good race, I look forward to racing you when you get some irating, keep posting all your races, iracing or Forza, I enjoy your commentary and your editing, btw, have you made any adjustments in your setup in iracing? that can dramatically improve your lap times and results
+Brian Fowler Good to hear mate! I've changed to force feedback settings only slightly but yes, I might need to have a bit of a play around with the settings a bit more.
You can view the amount of FF in the HUD top Right... = F.
Be sure to set the FF value low enough so the bar doesnt go red.
Thanks for the pointers.
The displays you had up (F3 and controls) are graphical interfaces, they are windows and can be moved and resized. I have my F3 just below the windshield, just to the right of my controls display, which is centered below the windshield. To move those windows I have a button hot-mapped to my wheel. You can find this mappable input in Controls, it is called "Toggle UI Interface".
With my 27 inch monitor if I had my displays down in the corners, I would have to take my eyes off the action ahead and look down and to one side. But ever since I relocated my displays, they are readily observable.
More iracing plz
No idea if anyone has mentioned this, but what foot are you using to brake with? If you aren't start using your left foot to brake, google trail braking and start practicing that. It will eventually become second nature to brake that way.
Can't see if it has been mentioned earlier or not but I found it so much easier when I turned off the hand animation. With it on you only see 90 degree steering wheel motion each way. With the hands turned off you can see the full steering motion of that cars wheel.
I found it easier for my brain to work out wheel placement
If you want to go fast I advice never turning the wheel more than 90 degrees in any car in iracing. If the car doesn't turn turning the wheel more wont help only slowing down will sure turning the wheel more will cause understeer and slow the car but it's tricking you into thinking it helps turn the car. There are very few car track combinations where turning the wheel more than 90 degrees as indicated in the throttle gear section or when your wheel is 1:1 ratio is faster ... These special circumstances are when its a tight very very slow hairpin or tight hairpin with f1 and even then 110 degrees is always enough.
It is more when I am oversteering and need to counter past 90, it fucks my brain up when the wheel stops turning in the sim and I usually end up not catching the slide and smacking the wall :P
+Ausdrifter I see , well dunno man I used to Irace when if you start sliding it's safer to slam on the brakes to get control back lol. The last thing I'd ever be looking at is the wheel though. In a real car you can lose track of where the wheel is in your hand too when trick spinning etc really don't think the wheel moving is anything but a massive distraction much like the driving line in iracing so yer don't bother about it not traveling past 90 I've never even noticed it and I did use the wheel cause I streamed.
good video as always:D
+Tigerkitty Thank you!
Good race! I wish I could help with tips but I've never played it. If you want Mario Kart tips I'm your guy.
Remember that the leader (winner) probably didnt get hold up as much as you by other cars, and he also gain like 5 sekunds if he was in a better starting position. So you’re probably not driving more than 25 seconds slower than him in the race. Still a second pr minute, but not as much as 40 sec though. From what I could see from the video you can improve a bit on hitting the apex correctly. But all in all pretty good driving 👍
I found i improved with a wheel for sure, but cockpit view changed my life in racing games. Judgeing entries became a little easier for me.
Good race love the channel. Have a look at a program called ispeed.
should i leave gt sport for iracing ?????
How to make the car jump on road like that ?
Try iSpeed. It is a free download and it allows you to record your telemetry and compare it against other drivers. It is the best way to assess your brake, throttle, gear, steering inputs vs guys that are a bit quicker than you.
iRaging!
I just got the game too, still learning as well, but unlike you, I seldom play racing games.
Finally able to get a few laps without slipping off in Lime Rock Park.
With your attitude off keeping out of trouble and finishing every race combined with your driving style, braking needs some work but who hasn't been there with Iracing, you won't be too much longer until rookie mazda is a distant memory and you're running D and C class series, I went to Caddy Cup when promoted to D the spec racer bores me and the Kia it's a soccer mums bus not a race car but each to their own on that. When I only had pedals that didn't have a load cell to find the right feel and pressure best advice I got was go to options and modulate brake while moving the brake force factor slider up and down to it feels good for you.if I catch you in a server one day be easier to explain talking rather than me waffle on here and when you get yo the stage off wanting to upgrade your wheel and pedals If you can only afford one at a time do the pedals first at least up to a set of Fanatec V3's and beyond to the other brands high end pedals depending on budget as they make the biggest difference to your racing it has me anyway. There is a amazing new Iracing app called VRS(virtual racing school) highly recommend you downloading it, very useful for rookies as it puts all the telemetry data on car, track and driving in the best plain English possible that larry, curly and moe would understand they also offer some free driver training with a Iracing alien was a free service to subscribe too while its in beta testing still and think is only going to be a bit of shrapnel from the jean pockets a month when they do start charging. Will add you on Iracing shortly more than happy to help you anyway I can so don't be afraid hit me up in sim am about a fair bit these days after I now have a bigger addiction to Iracing than I do my bongs as the bloody sim consumes a minimum 12-15 hours a day in sim practicing and racing either official or league
and if u want to know my times at the moment are 1:48 lows and are not 1:47 because im bad in last section , so im not talking as a big noob ... :)
if my experience of racing sifting at a faster rate will actually reduce your braking distance. with downshifting faster the gearbox and transmission will start to exceed its range of rpm so the car will decrease in speed faster to get in the window of the selected gear you have selected range of rpm. but downshifting to fast the rear wheels will lock up if downshifted to fast for that gear
Nice race but since this car doesn't automatically close the throttle when upshifting you should manually close it when you're shifting to negate engine damage.
1:13 lol wtf!!!
Do you think forza 6 is a good way to practise this game?
As i'm thinking about subscribing to it in the near future and would like to hone my skills
absolutely not. forza is a game, this is a sim.
it's not even the same genre
yaaay
he's bouncing that's a good defence lmfao lololol
late welcome to the game! for some real helpful tips head to the skip barber forum section and read the stickies.
dont worry to much about ratings at first. consistency in traffic will help in the long run.
Happy to run practice sessions with you if you need help
Why dont you play this anymore? I am thinking about making the move to R-Factor, and this on my computer now that I have a system that will run anything..
This isn't Forza/GT5/PC/R3E. Setting your FOV correctly will help you pick up driving slip and slides (5:00). The graphics settings can help you. You just plug in the width and height of your actual screen and your average distance between the screen and your eyezes. It may be unnerving at first, I average 19" from a 24" monitor and my display only shows the top half of the electronic display and part of the A pillar. Trust your spotter and use your intuitive special perception to give a leg (or ) room to the left or right as necessary. A small price to pay in order to clock out faster lap times. You'll get used to it and it will be highest realism. Plus perhaps you'll be inspired to go to a 3 monitor system serious simracers have.
The best advice I can give is practice practice practice
Better say pay pay pay haha.this game is a joke.
3:33 you don't need to brake there. just a tip. i like this track a lot. was my first win in road class back in 2015
+Gabriel Mauricio Thanks for the tip!
Can I just jump on and play with this game or do I have to be on at specific times?
You can practice whenever you like but races are always held at specific times.
My advise Go on practice and drive on the grass or off the track and try to return to the track without spinning out and try a couple times like 2, 3, 5 laps
Trust me, it actually helps out a lot
My thoughts SuperGT
1) It's not a game its a sim. So treat iRacing as if your doing SCCA or a Track Day. Not a game like Forza or NFS.
2)Pratice, Pratice, Practice
3)Search the forums for setups
4)Get some Fanatec pedals asap.
I know from experience the right gear/wheel pedal combination will help you tremendously in iRacing.
+gblikesnikes Thank you for the words of wisdom.
heyy super gt.. I am wondering why did you picked iRacing? Did you tried Asseto Corsa? I am not saying it is bad choice.. I just prefer AC more
Havn't tried AC but I got iRacing as it was recommended to me by some guys at AOR.
Pretty fast answer GT :D I see that you are fast even here. When you will have time and possibility try it :)
Yeah, I will definitely get it at some point!
Bring back iracing
Try being a bit smoother on brake release. The car will be more stable on entry, and it will point better.
It's probably been mentioned that your car number is your estimated finishing position.
your car number is to do with irating , man with most irating get number 1
I'm not sure if you know about this already but this is where you can go to get custom paint schemes that people make for your cars in iRacing: www.tradingpaints.com/showroom
so yeah, on your braking, there are indeed a few things you do wrong there. let me start of by saying that im a iracing member for two years now and have 2500 ir with a B licence so im no pro but do know some stuff
if you look in your left bottom corner you can see your inputs on the weel and the peddals. the thing that stands out is that you do 100% brakes or no brakes. wich makes you lock up your tires every time you do that and when your tires are locked you cant turn.
what you should be doing is called threshold braking wich means try and brake as close the the lock up point as possible without locking them up.
if you can tho that you can start trailbraking wich means that you get on the brakes firmly but no lockup and come of graduatly while turning in this wil inprove your laptimes masively.
bij the looks of your braking you are not using a loadcell break pedal wich is fine but would be a great upgrade. as it helps you with your threshold braking. what you have to do now is focus on braking maybe like 75% of the red bar in the left botom. what i did to make it my self more easy is drag that box somewere above your steering wheel so you can see it easy and keep an eye on it. you can do so bij pressing alt/K on the keybord you can move al your hud arround if you like by this way
braking is the most inportant thing to work on in any racing be it sim or real life.
hope it helps
hit me up on the iracing forum if you want.
jeroen brink
Thanks so much for the tips. I'm pretty used to pressing 75% of brakes on Forza so I just need to translate that to the pedal instead of a trigger on a controller.
One thing I can say about your braking, you remain fully on the brakes for too long especially going into the hairpin. You should gradually decrease your braking as you enter the corner which will allow the car to rotate into the corner rather than just plow strait away from the apex of the corner. Watch this video: czcams.com/video/nwf5CZL4GZM/video.html It'll teach you about threshold braking, trail braking, etc. And even thought the mx-5 has ABS it's probably still better to try threshold braking than relying on ABS.
keep turning laps it gets easier :)
I am new as well, joined december 2015, best thing i have done so far is get into a team and read Ultimate Speed Secrets by Ross Bentley, has helped my overall racecraft better than anything so far
For breaking it does look like you are breaking too early very often. Forza encourages this type of shifting. In forza I have noticed that down shifting very early is able to reduce breaking distance significantly. However, it seems this game does not benefit from that.
take that 2nd last corner full throttle then brake hard for the right corner onto the straight! just my 2 cents.
Hello, first of all, if you are in rookie class, just manage to drive clean to go up in safety rating and get higher classes, you ll see later for your irating giving you the ability to race against better racers.
That said, the mx-5 can' t manage a hard braking while turning in.
Brake less and use more your downshift, hold your braking a bit longer with trailbraking.
For the rest, check at matt malone channel , he is a mazda mx-5 specialist, you ll see how far you are from the limits that the mazda can provide.
Finally, no secret, practice,practice,practice.
And don t forget, you are in rookie class, the divebomb serie XD
The green mx-5 that came inside was a good example of it ;-)
Edit: lol i just saw that the vid was 11monts old, i guess u passed in higher classes. Anyway other tips still remain ;-)
I haven't played forza or I Racing, can't iracing not a pc gamer, but watching your vids I wouldn't go near Forza, unless ou want joke racing, stick with Iracing seems more your cup of tea anyway! Great vids.....
Forza is way more relaxing to play
You’re Named after the minecraft guy
What's your Safety rating after this race?
+Sean Case 1440
Threshold breaking is needed!
try less braking input and sooner trailing after initial braking go fast to 50% then slowly let down to 20%
apexs and exits mate! you're losing so much time under braking and you're not carrying enough speed into the apex. Brake later on turn one get over to the right as early as you can, drop it in 4th before you turn in on the left, turn in at the marshall box on the right, carry the speed over to a late apex and then run it wide
into 5th just on the left apex on the next turn should be doing about 93 mph if you've hit it right.
the next parabolica is tricky but look for a late apex and hug the inside line
straight is a straight gg
hairpin late apex lots of power on exit, move over to the right, slight touch on the brake to get the front end in the left hander, again late apex and run it wide ( you can push quite far over to the right side running over the curb ) then turn in left when you hit the curb on the right hand side not too much curb on entry as it'll spit you out wide - should be doing about 75-80 at the end of the exit curb if you're done it right
Next left hander hairpin thing brake at marker 3, down into third, turn in, down into second 45mph on the apex, run it wide, quickly into 3rd and then back into second to turn the car, straighten it up on the apex and run it wide(watch for wheelspin tyres will be warm at this point)into 3rd on the exit curb
turn into the second last corned by using the marshall box on the left as an indicator - into 4th just as you turn in dont use too much curb as it unsettles the car (plus you can get a time pen) turn the car and then plant it
slight blip on the brake, downshift into 3rd turn in, keep trail braking to turn the car, get it straight, hammer it to the exit..
and that is a lap of okayama in my eyes. ( I won about 5 races in a row that week) best i've done is 1:44 iirc
empty box is a great iracer he's a youtuber as well nothing but iracing, the tapatalk forums are great as well, alotta guys I race with in ptg do alotta iracing as well and are damn good mate and they are always helping people out and give great great advice check them out as well
+omertacw Yeah, I've been subbed to him for about a year now. Top channel.
iRenting is hard because of its heavily flawed tire model. There is no area where one is warned the car is being driven to its limit. You go from having grip to spinning out without warning. It baffles one's mind when some think this is the best sim when it has so many faults in its tire model, FFB effects and physics.
is that bouncing defence method a joke or is that a real thing lol great vid tho
+TheRealMMP A joke of course unless you can think of any cars that jump like that? lol
+Super GT hydraulics in iracing confirmed? lol
I have no experience with iracing, but i suggest you lookup Empty Box on youtube or twitter, he is very experienced at iracing.
+Seven MotorSport Yeah, already subbed to him for a while now, love his channel.
Are you using the wheel or a controller?
Wheel, Thrustmaster TX
Gotcha, I have the same one, I have been debating whether or not to try iRacing. A bit tired of the Forza smash fest.
Its worth a try. I think there are some cheap deals at the moment. You could always just buy one month of membership or something short to try it out.
Just did this weekend it was only $7.50 for the month but so far I am loving it. Game is much harder than expected, I'm finishing around middle of the pack around 6th and 7th or so. I sent ya a friend invite.
No familiar with iRacing but are there other cars? The MX5 droning engine noise gets real old real quick. Great video though can't wait to see more.
There are a Couple more cars I think, there are some cars you can buy with real money and you have to pay a monthly fee to be able to play it.
+Colby White you get something like 17 cars and tracks with the base subscription . I think something like 10 series you can race in depending what class license you have . Other cars and tracks are available to buy at around 15 US a piece . Sounds like a lot but if you wait until Black Friday you can get the subscription and some cars and tracks 50 percent off .
+Colby White 50+ cars. Both for road racing and oval racing.
+Alex Gomes but yes the base subscription only comes with so many cars and tracks.
+Drunk_Mercenary wow what a terrible business model
The Mazda will gain a lot of time by letting the engine braking carry you around the corner... You can brake quite late and Carry the speed with the engine braking.. key with the Mazda's and time loss or gained
Check out EmptyBox. He has put up some good iRacing tips/tutorials that are pretty good.
