Interesting Facts about Sunshine Skyway Bridge,
    1. The Sunshine Skyway Bridge is a toll bridge that spans Lower Tampa Bay and connects the city of St. Petersburg in Florida.
    2. It’s a cable-stayed bridge with two massive towers. The American Bridge Company built it with a total cost of about $244 million USD and it was completed in the year 1987.
    3. It’s the second bridge on this location. The original bridge on the location was opened for traffic on September 6, 1954, and was named the Sunshine Sky way Bridge as well.
    4. The original bridge collapsed in 1980. A sudden micro burst and winds exceeding 70 miles per hour (110 km/h) created a massive accident that happened on May 9, 1980. A huge freighter with the name of MV Summit Venture crashed into the span going south and destroyed a pier.
    5. In the bridge collapse, six cars, a truck, and an intercity bus, fell into the water. 35 people lost their lives that day.
    6. The old bridge demolition completed in the year 1993. The approaches to the old bridges were kept in place and turned into a State Park referred to as the “Skyway Fishing Pier State Park.” This park consists of both piers on the north and south side of Tampa Bay and is extensively used by fishermen.
    7. One of the saddest facts about the Sunshine Skyway Bridge is that it’s not just a popular bridge for cars to cross, but also for people who want to commit suicide. It’s estimated that at least 310 people have committed suicide by jumping off the bridge, and at least 43 people have miraculously survived the jump.
    8. Because of the constant danger of people using the bridge for this purpose, 6 crisis hotline phones have been installed at various points on the bridge. Dozens of people have called this hotline and everybody who did has survived!

Great video, also showcasing how all bridges should've received protective dolphins after 1980 . 40 years was enough time to have it done

It doesn't look this sleek now that they installed jumper fencing. I really enjoy using this bridge.

That is one creepy bridge! Even though I've never seen it in person, something about it totally creeps me out. It is a weird looking bridge to begin with, and then there was the accident that destroyed the old bridge. Plus, the hundreds of people who have died there since the new one was built. Still, I hope to drive over it one day the next time I'm in that area. I ain't scared of no bridge! Well, I kind of am of this one....

That bridge is Notorious for big ass grouper. At night is even crazier though, put the boat directly under the bridge and the lights from the bridge will light up the water🤷🏾‍♂️ literally huge tarpon, 50 pound jacks, giant red fish, giant snook, gag groupers, mutton snappers and etc..
