    Hi Jaap, I like the fact that you can back transfer the total from the counter, that's a neat feature. I've bid on a few of these but never won the bid - nice to see one working :-)

      Yes, it's a very clever design. Sadly it meant they had to get rid of the cover that hides the added zeroes when shifting the input to the left.

      @@jaapsch2 Ah, of course, I couldn't think why they'd got rid of that sliding cover, that was always a really neat feature.

      @@Dagoth666Ur Wow, that was a bargain Dagoth666Ur!!! I've stopped looking for the moment, lack of time/space/money etc although at the price you paid, money wouldn't have been such a factor. Hope you're enjoying having such a cool machine.

      @@GrumpyTim I was baffled with price too, my first thoughts was that is broken but it was in such a great condition (just a few small scratches) that i couldn't pass, and yes i love it.

    I wonder what the technology for these would have become if electronic / digital calculators and computers were never created

      Me too! I think some machines as complex as the analytical engine would be operational right now!

      Same here. Imagine a mechanical graphing calculator. :)

    How to divide on it? In the same way as on Odhner machines?

    • @jaapsch2
      @jaapsch2  Před 2 lety +2

      Yes, division is exactly like Odhner machines. Entering the dividend is made easier by the red button second from the right, which shifts the input register as far to the left as it will go.
