Put wheel back at normal level hight before tightening the control arms as it will twist the rubbers if done when dropped down. Needs to be at correct hight so just measure to centre of hub and jack it up as you tighten at correct measurements.

I changed the struts on my wife’s 328 last week and then had to get a new front drive axle. If your drive axle is on the way out, dropping the spindle far enough to get the struts out more often than not will finish it off. It's best to leave the upper 3 nuts on the strut and loosen just the pinch bolt. Smack the knuckle, be careful not to damage it as it is made out of aluminum. It will drop and then you can undo the upper nuts to remove the complete strut assembly.

    • @RobThompsontheITguy

Also FCP EURO provides a lifetime warranty on most of what they sell. The quality of some quick struts is questionable (Doorman, not through my door man, talking about you here). Scotty Kilmer did a video on the potential differences between the OEM design and some quick struts he purchased. In my opinion, he sometimes provides questionable advice, however, I think his video about quick struts is worth watching. I'll give you a caviat and that is as TOMAHAWK813 kind of eluded to, in his case as in my case, the issue seems to be that top strut mounts and the bump stops have warn out even though the factory struts may not be leaking or have technically failed. At 150k, I'm willing to replace the struts on my e90. Another poster did point out that on the xi or xDrive models, the front CV joints could be warn to a point that they fail after this project is complete. In my case, I'm hearing an occasional loud pop when I pull forward or backwards with the wheels turned to the stops so I'm probably looking at doing CV axles at the same time.

You are not doing the right way in removing the Strut.. You first need to remove both the lower arms, Outer tie rod from the wheel side and support the Brake disc and wheel knuckle together on any adjustable support/fixed one and remove the strut by removing the loosened nut on top of the Guide support..you can watch Autodoc video if you wish czcams.com/video/oH9lCy2ZqkM/video.html
