I guess I really dont understand all the expectations for a $269 machine. It can't expect to be perfect. For the money, I think it's a excellent machine.

thanks for the content. Recently i noticed I had a lot of broken tones VDI all over the place. I did some digging and asking, it led me to taking my coil cover off and WOW just the dirt and whatever that fell out I was blown away. I cleaned the cover and the coil itself. The beeps are so much more crisp. The VDI much more stable, well as much as expected with this machine. Going to go hunt some spots I hunted before and see what comes up.

I checked my local dealer last week. They had 5 in stock so I bought one for fun. It will mostly be as a loaner machine or as a backup. I swung it around in my yard and it sounds great.

I think that with the demand and as many that will be sold, Minelab engineers will be working on a couple technical issues that you mentioned. I hope there will be a firmware update this year. I just put the 6" Equinox coil on mine; can't wait to hit my local parks.😁

Always found jumpy signals turn out to be rubbish, but stable numbers always seem to be something good . Maybe the machine is trying to say dig and not to dig . I've got some sandy land I'm going on at the weekend so will try beach mode and see how that will produce In the field , you're right about the headphones but I'm sure there on the way soon I'm just lucky enough to own a 700 so I've got the best of both worlds.

    5.00
I think the Nox 700 and 900 and by what i have seen on vids the Manticore are jumpy on VDI numbers. Maybe if they jump about a lot its because its a dodgy or misshaped or large target?
    12.00
The recovery speed is 2 levels lower than the Nox . 1 is up to 2 , 2 is up to 4 and 3 is up to 6 on the Nox. Still way faster than many machines and the same as the Nox 600
    12.30
If you buy August phones EP 650B and get a APT low latency adaptor the Nox 800 phones and the August phones will work as wireless , the adaptor has to be plugged in though.
Thats what i have done. It does mean its not a waterproof machine for underwater though.
    14.00
True. But i have the Terra Pro and the Nox 900 , not interested in the Manticore. Too much money. Is the Manticore worth 6 Terra's ? Ummm !
    16.00
I have used mine on the beach and it really is quite good and its not too bad in the water. Not quite as good as the Nox maybe but i need to go in properly into the water instead of 6 to 12 inches and see if it really is that good.
Also having 3 land frequencies is very useful, saves changing coils like on the old Terra's .
This machine is not only a really good starter machine but a very good main machine for anyone on a budget.
For £299 its a very good machine.
For me all the above issues you have are not that much to worry about.
The only thing i don't like is the painted metal stem. Thats going to scratch to hell so i have taped my Teleknox stem at the point i want the box and handle to go on and pushed the bottom bracket up with its lugs either side of the shaft (square stem on Terra Pro , round on Nox) , pushed down the handle and screwed the handle on . A bit of a bodge but it works. If done right.

Why do people call it a single frequency machine? It’s multi frequency but not simultaneous multi right??

    • @HiddenHistoryHuntersDetecting
      @HiddenHistoryHuntersDetecting  Před rokem

You’re right yes. But it’s a selectable single frequency machine. When you say Multi frequency these days people assume simultaneous multi frequency so to keep it clear it makes sense to explain it as it is as a single selectable frequency machine 👍
Not quite sure what you mean by “you people” ?

@@godovermoney1124are you running the full sensitivity on it like this one is in the video and just lower the sensitivity down to 15 and then the X-Terra Pro will give you a more steady VDI but when you get to a Junk Target and then the jumpy VDI will start to come back and let you know that it's a JUNK Target And a good target will jump but a number Or two and also I have noticed that if the ground is super deep Dry and that will also effect the X-Terra Pro and it's almost instantaneous feedback from the ground but just lower the sensitivity down and also that he doesn't do a ground balance and left it on 0 ground balance and the X-Terra Pro needs to know what type of ground mineralization that is there And just like Any Detector Made needs to know. But people that are not going to do anything with the instructions and read it and then claims that it's not a good detector and Any Detector that I have ever owned and used, I couldn't do the Full Sensitivity and without any kind of ground Feedback from the Detector and that's why you can't always get a more true idea of the X-Terra Pro than to try it out for yourself and I'm not Diggin Up Great Iron Quarter Targets that the Simplex + told me that was a good target Tone but wasn't.....

I find more with my Teknetiks Eurotek pro on the deep coinage, tha n than the 3 mentioned. Get the X-Terra Pro and you will like the Tone's of the X-Terra Pro compared to the Simplex "High, Medium and Low Tone when you swing over the Target's and then the All Metal Mode on the Simplex Ultra and the Simplex lineup is a totally different threshold Tone And still no more ideas of what the target is going to be but the X-Terra Pro you can have 2 Tone 5 Tone All Tone's And Depth Tone And hear the difference between Targets and also the Iron Grunts when the targets are iron and that's ALOT More than the Simplex Ultra is able to do of the videos that I have seen so far on the ability of the Simplex Lineup...... and he is using the Full Sensitivity and it's not necessary to be that Hot 🔥 to find the Targets and I have lowered my sensitivity down to 12 and until I got use to the X-Terra Pro and I have since raised it up and I'm at 18 Sensitivity now and I can tell when I get to a Junk Target more than I thought it would do and starting at the least sensitivity really sold me on the X-Terra Pro and it's Abilities to tell me what it's trying to tell me what the target is.....

Commenting on your "4 things I don’t like about the Minelab X-Terra Pro" ==== Point 1. VDI NUMBER BOUNCE are a product of Detector Sensitivity, ground balance. Point 2 PROCESSOR SENSITINITY Processors are programed with software. Therefore it's not going to be as good as more expensive processors. Point 3 HEADPHONES It's a PLUS that Minelab programed the XTERRA Pro to use the same headphones as the Equinox. Point 4 PRODUCT AVILABILITY That's a moot point since supply and demand have not keep up since the pandemic. None of your Four points should be a deterrent to purchasing the XTERRA PRO. Simply said "You Get What You Paid For"
