In this video, I will break down how I mixed and mastered my new release, "Ancient Legend" with @AhmadMohamadiyan which has a meditation lofi vibe. I'm really happy with the production and mix. I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for watching :)

Awesome video Tyler!
Thanks bro❤️
Hi Tyler... I thought that I'd share with you a way of approaching your mixes that might make some sense to you. Begin with the melodic elements that you KNOW that you want to hear... start with the main melody, any counter melodies that will ride just underneath, and then add the chord progression (unless the chord progression contains your main melodic line). Then add in the bass, then any rhythm elements, and finally your transitions. Since you began with the melodic elements, then wrapped everything else around them, you should have a 'complete musical package' once you've completed your mix. Just remember to always begin with the one main musical element so that it can always be heard... and that everything else acts in the supporting role that you've assigned to it. Cheers!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! But the rundown makes it easier for me to film the video. That's why mix and master is a bit hard to film 🙈

Tyler期待纯表演视频啊。不讲技术,直接演奏。
這個有點難啊 因為跟別人合作。但我們有一個短視頻 我一會兒會上傳😊
Amazing Tyler, thank you for sharing with us :)
What music distributor are you using?
(distrokid, tunecore, cd baby etc.)
I'm currently in a research with music distributors, and I'm very curious what are you using. Thanks!
I have three distributors for my independent release (CD Baby, identity music ,and Distrokids). They both have pros and cons, like the price/ percentage they take you /features etc, so i will choose the perfect one for each release. BTW, Distrokids can received more royalites! haha
@@tyler.l5230 Thank you so much for your answer.
Do you have any idea about Distrokid's "leave a legacy" option, if it can be applied later, let's say in case I use the annual subscription, and 1 song gets a lot of plays and I want to pay for "leave a legacy" to never be deleted (that song particularly). I know that with CD Baby you pay $10/song and it won't be deleted, you don't depend on a subscription. (only that you are charged 9% of royalties)
Can you tell me very briefly why you use 3 distributors? What use case do you have for each?
Thank you, and I apologize for the long text, the only way to find "safer" answers is by asking an artist who already knows the environment.
To be honest, covering the annual subscription is possible if one song gets a lot of plays. When I started out, I used CD Baby, which seems to be your concern as well. In my opinion, it depends on how many songs you plan to release per year. CD Baby is more flexible if you're only releasing a few tracks annually, so you don't have to worry about the "leave a legacy" aspect. With Identity Music, they can pitch your song to Spotify and it's free to release, but they take a percentage of your music. DistroKid requires a subscription fee, but you own 100% of the royalties. That's why I use different distributors to meet my needs.
@@tyler.l5230 Thank you for your answer, Tyler. It helped me a lot!
Keep doing your amazing videos, so I can learn more and more from you :)
Thanks again!
hihi I'm wondering when you mentioned @1:40 to leave everything back to zero, did you do any gain staging to -18db on every track before you begin adjusting volume for each individual track for the mix?
Hi there, I didn't use gain in this case. For the lofi genre, where we typically have only 20-30 tracks, I believe there's enough space in the mix. However, when working on genres like pop or dance etc, usually reduce the dB when start mixing. Hope that makes sense!
