- Im ok everyone. This was a wonderful ride until the deer struck my handlebar, pushing me into oncoming traffic. please subscribe as I have much to say and have many videos lined up and will be riding again shortly.

That was a freak and most frightening looking accident. Usually, I convince myself that I could have avoided it, but not in this case. This was unavoidable. I see how he clipped your handlebar. What else could you do? You didn't want to head to the right and straight into the side of the deer (which seems better in hindsight, but no one in their right mind would do that). You almost missed him, but he clipped your handlebar sending you into oncoming traffic. Glad you are OK!

100% agree. Watched it like 10 times and I did not avoid it. I don't feel like I can say that very often.
I've had two deer hits and in both cases I noticed the deer always puts you (the rider/driver/bicyclist) on its 3/6 o'clock line. And from watching innumerable videos, 100% of collisions occur on the 3/6 line. So it seems the deer's behavior is keep you behind that 3/6 line only it cannot because you're much faster than the deer.

I ride a similar type of route in Hawaii. We dont have deer in 99% of the islands, but we have CHOKE pails boar.

I got a CF Moto 450 NK. I'm loving it so far. I needed something cheap and fun so I have some time to think about a more permanent bike. I love that the NK is small enough for kart tracks though!

I'm looking and researching on getting an XSR900 and watched several of your videos. To see this happen was really sad man, I know you said you're ok but hopefully it all worked out in the end as I work my way up to your newer videos it's good to see you're back on a bike. Nothing you could've done man, I'm just glad you're alive and hopefully insurance or something can replace the bike.

@@TheCoolestCourier I just rode an MT09SP last weekend as well as the XSR900 and MT07 last weekend at MotoGP. They're all great bikes! I kind of figured that you would get a different bike to further your reviews and channel. I think the MT09 was an excellent choice! Enjoy, live long and prosper! 👏🏼

I was good after a month. My take away is about the same but also, Airbag vests are the future of motorcycle safety. It blows armor out of the water

Yes, and no...... The issue, if insurance ever looked into it, would fall down to his speed. The limit that's displayed on his GPS is 30mph. If that's correct, he was going 20+mph over just seconds prior to the collision. His insurance will justify that had he been going the speed limit that he may not have been in the accident. If this was involving a death, the investigation would've concluded as such. He would not be reimbursed for the accident.
Accountability is the largest flaw in humans. Everything in life is your own fault, try to understand how you could've changed your result.

Another Yamaha rider (a black 21+ gen MT09) who was nailed by a deer about 6 weeks ago on east grade side that one came accross the road from opposite side ...his bike is repaired and his two broken toes are healed...I saw the video on his phone man it is scary because it was like 1030 AM ....so they can pop out anytime I guess not just dusk or early am. I have been riding Palomar several years and have seen several deer but so far all were on the Nate Harrison dirt road up Palomar ....each time they emerged and then just ran with me chasing for a while. At least most of the deer in this area are pretty scawny compared to other areas! I suggested he find this video and links his encounter

I came from the 76 right before this video started. I started from the bottom of Palomar mountain and took South grade road up, the really twisty one, the crash was at the very top of South Grade road

What do the insurance companies say about this? I'm curious because they do not want to pay out. Animals running out is an act of nature. The animal can't be held liable. It's a harsh system.

@@TheCoolestCourier I know you're not at fault. The difference between fault and liability is often hard to take. Laws should be changed, allowing you to hunt a deer and sell it to cover the insurance excess.

Yeah, since there were no broken bones or severed tendons I was able to walk like 4 days later and I was actually in the gym and back on a bike at the 3 and 1/2 week. Mark!. I bought a CF Moto 450nk. Had fun with that and now my friend is going to buy it off of me and I'll be getting a 23 mt-09. SP!!

Yeah I got a 2024 CF Moto 450nk. Super fun small bike, I highly prefer it to the ninja and z400. But It was definitely not an adequate replacement for the xsr. It's for sale right now and I'm going to be picking up a 23 mt-09. SP

Yeah. I was thinking of doing track days at a karting track. That's 20 minutes from me where the cap is 450cc. So this was the perfect bike. But yeah I miss the CP3 too much. I'll just suck it up. And find a way to get to Chuckwalla raceway occasionally even though it's pretty far from me
