  • Made a very simple rocket stove using an aircrete mix made with vermiculite and shaving foam.

Thanks for the great video. Does this stove still work?

just use cardboard tube available at any good carpet store in various grades, no need to remove when dry just burn out.

Have you maybe thought about incorporating a little copper coil for a hot water source too? I'm going to make one of these and wanted to try it. Like a hot water cylinder coil inside the stove made from 10mm copper pipe... Inlet and outlet sticking out the sides then connect a hose to run water through very slowly..

I have for my pizza oven build. What's impressed me with this design is the minimal amount of fuel needed to cook something. In my next build, I want to incorporate a fire brick tile just above the fire to act as a hot plate. Haven't seen anyone trying this but I bet it's not original (nothing is anymore😁)

@@mancaveprojects4693 extra cooking area is always good and the heat at the top of the pizza oven would be ideal.. I built your original version 2 years ago and it's still going strong. I might need to replace the brick slips with something else soon though.
A copper coil inside the pizza oven airbrick would be cool for a water heating element. Can't wait to see this if you try it. Good luck!

    Can aircrete take the heat?

Had no issues with it taking the heat. Major downside to aircrete apart from getting the mixture correct is the fragile nature of the finish. Rubs away easily so some form of surface finish to harden the exterior would be a great benefit.

My husband and I are wondering about the durability of the stove. Did it last? He is concerned that the fire will be too hot for the aircrete.

Still going strong. I've had about 25 fires in it with no issues. I did make a second one and soaked it in water before a heavy frost to see how it would cope. It didn't do well so heat isn't an issue. Leaving it out over winter in sub zero conditions will destroy it.
