As far as art forms go, artists that work in film/television are telling stories through fictional characters, whereas comedians tells stories as themselves under their actual names and not behind a character so maybe that’s why people can be harsher on comedians when it comes to controversial jokes or topics, because they might mistake that as the true ideals/opinions of a comedian when in reality, it’s actually satire or something along those lines.
I agree with Bob about comedy being a more scrutinized art form for certain topics. I think it is for a few reasons,one of them,yes is people being more sensitive,not to say that that is wrong but it is a factor. I also think that many people have no quite mastered the art of satire. This is comedians,I mean. If you are just punching down with no statement on how that is wrong then you are just having people laugh at your hate speech. I think that JoJo was a great example of Satire. As it was a frivolous take on a Childs interpretation of Hitler it was proper satire because it reduced Hitler to a specimen of ridicule.Like,literally ridiculous. I think that people have a hard time finding brevity in the subjects that are still so impact peoples lives. Making fun of Trans people whilst they are still being murdered in the streets is not going to be funny to people. Disparaging women when they are still so discriminated against is not going to be able to make it to the frivolity that some things can have.
I NEVER did homework in junior high or high school. I would flat out tell my teachers to give me the homework assignment in class because I will not be doing anything for this class as soon as the bell rings and I walk out the door. Even had one teacher tell me, "Well if you don't do any of the homework assignments, then the best you can get in the class is a D." Didn't even blink when I told him, "A D grade still comes with 5 credits." I ended up getting a B from him cuz of all the bonus points I got on projects and scoring 100% on every test. Was the only person who didn't have to take his final because I was the only person to get 100% on all the tests throughout the semester.
Sometimes doing an assignment is to teach you to tolerate things you dont want to do. Sounds like your teacher did you a solid favor by allowing you to pass, considering they either 1) didnt have a good, fair, grading system and just gave you a B to keep you happy, or 2) Gave you a B and abandoned their grading system all for you. Either way I wouldn't tell this story as a "look how badass I am" but instead more of a "this gracious teacher let me do that and I turned out ok. Shout out to them."
In Germany, all children learn about the holocaust and how horrible it was. They own that horrible history. We should take a page from them in terms of slavery.
