I have always practiced the flick of the wrist to set the brake when setting the saw down. As long as I have control of it, no need for the brake. Rather than watch your video this morning, I decided to move some of my dry wood right outside of the basement door so I'll be ready for cold weather. When I went to get the second truckload, my wife said "You don't need to do it all today like that Chris guy on CZcams." I took it as a compliment.

A longer bar is what Bucking Billy Smith uses, his moto is "stand up and buck", less bending over on longer bars, 36 inches and more.

Buckin' Billy Ray Smith uses long bars so he can stand up and buck. Yes it helps reduce the stain on the lower back so I have a ms460 with a 28" bar and a 372xp with a 24 and another one with a 20. My what a difference to my back the longer bars make. I getting more 24's but interested in those light weight bars.

Looks like the two of you had a great time in the woodyard. Running a bigger pro saw takes a kittle getting used to. Soon it feels as if it is a natural part of you and smaller saws feel like toys in comparison.

I knew you would put him to work!!🤣 I bet two people cutting on a log pile like that could blast through it in no time!! Always one more person to move rounds or be fueling up the next saw. Three would be even better. One could start splitting!!😂 Good work fellas! GNI

  • @bentwedgestanleybrand5818

I have my echo CS 7310p 24 inch bar I finally got them in. I have the cs 800 p echo I put a 24 inch bar on it too. Great running chainsaws. Low maintenance will run all day long.

I know the feeling of going to a pro saw. I went from a Polan 16” bar to a Husqvarna 357XP, still my go to saw, with a 18” bar. Huge jump in power but I knew it was coming. Started easy and built my knowledge of the saw. Like anything at first, slow and easy and always have some fear to keep you in check. Now I want a Stihl 462 or a Husqvarna 572XP lol. Have a great day all. Great video Chris, I will be adding some Pink Tape to my woodcutting tools soon. 👍🏻👍🏻

Cutting cherry firewood rounds is good stuff. Enjoyed watching Mike try out your saws. Similar to cutting with my kids…they don’t run my 462 or 500i as often as I do so they’re understandably a bit hesitant, but they cut safely and it’s great fun working together. Keep the chips flying.

Excellent choice! Chris’ videos convinced me to get the 572xp, awesome machine, running the 28” bar (for me 36”-42” dia is a big tree) and it’s got plenty of grunt… stick w the 24” on the pile!

24in in the pipe is all I use! Got that idea from Chris ehen first learning how to work a log pile. My 550xp with 20in bar just doesn't worl as good in a log pile as my 24in saws.

  • @bentwedgestanleybrand5818

10 years ago I was running a steel 032. Cutting firewood. I kept the chainsaw running. 18 inch bar. That's all I had. Up in Sheboygan Michigan.

  • @bentwedgestanleybrand5818

The 592 is only half a pound lighter than the 395, I have a 390 and a 462 stihl which I use a lot because it’s 13 pounds and in wood the size that’s in that pile my bigger saw isn’t really much faster until you get to 16 inch and up and than the difference becomes really noticeable. I any definitely thinking of checking out the 592 as that jumps a full horsepower over my 390.

When it comes to the 572xp, it cuts basswood too fast for my comfort level as that wood is so easy cutting. Cuts faster than pine! Bucking basswood with my 59cc or 50cc saws is a lot more enjoyable, feels like I have a lot more control of the saw as they are slower cutting.

Great video as always Chris. And really, you think your 576xp has more power than your 572xp? I never got to try a 576 but do own a 572xpg and yes they are awesome. But watching your past videos when you cutting big rounds it looked as the 572xp had a bit lower end torque and didn't stop as much in the wood as the 576 did.

I only started with the Echo CS-590 because I wasn't willing to take the risk of spending big money on a pro-grade 70cc chainsaw in case firewood sales would not come. Now I have a 50cc and 71cc Husqvarna pro saws to go with the Echo. Now have a choice as to which saw to use. Each size has the type and size of wood it is best at cutting.
