would be nice as an alt art though, I mean summoned skull has like 8 of them and some of them are really good and even change him completely like the one with the scythe
The card in the anime actually had 2 seperate heads
I definitely remember some YGO video game in the 2000s gave it a 3D model with two separate heads. I don't remember which ones though.
In ps2 Era games in 3D it has arms two where the mouth is yet there not on card artwork and in anime it was classed as a Dragon Type not Thunder

Twin Headed Thunder Dragon is the bread and butter of Yugioh Forbidden Memories.
Kaiba played Twin Headed Thunder Dragon in the anime during the Noah arc. It did look SOMEWHAT like the artwork, being a bald dragon with a single horn on its head. But Kaiba's version clearly had two separate heads, not a head and a mouth on its back. If they're making retrains of first generation monsters Gate Guardian, Twin Headed King Rex, and Magician of Faith, I don't see why they can't make a retrain of Twin Headed Thunder Dragon that actually has two identical heads.
Once Wretched Ghost and Doriado got their cameo, I realized it's gonna be THTD and by gods, that card made me come back to today's YuGiOh, it really needs another artwork.
The 25th Anniversary would indeed be a good opportunity for this change

I 100% called this was going to be twin headed thunder dragon and two-mouth dark ruler.

It was always really strange to me that even though Yu-Gi-Oh did a bunch of pallet swaps the artwork had them in a completely different position. A lot of early Digimon pallet swaps were literally just a mirrored image
They kind of already did with capsule monsters. Someone actually summoned twin-headed thunder dragon and it looks like it but with two heads instead of a gaping mouth in the back of the neck

I like the original twin-headed Thunder dragon. It is a beautiful card imo, and liked it even in the early days of yugioh.

Ik you say palette swaps, but theyre in different poses, meaning they were drawn individually, i dont quite understand why drawing the same creature but in two different poses with slightly different colors wouldve saved time, like they could've come up with something different and they didnt, its kinda confusing
Artwork change should be a more common thing. I’m still waiting got the original Gx version of Elemental HERO Neos to be released.
Funny thing is they already redesigned the monster for the anime to have two distinct heads. so it's not like Konami even needs a whole new design, just artwork.

There are a ton of Fusion-Monsters which doesn't look like a combined version of their Fusion-material what is very weird (as example the Fusion Monster "Great Mammoth of Goldfine" is obviously a Undead Mammoth which is only Bones but he needs as Material "The Snake Hair" (which is a Medusa Like Monster a Woman with Snake as Hair) and "Dragon Zombie" (which is a Undead Dragon who still has his Scales and Eyes) so where looks a Woman with Snakes as Hair and a Undead Dragon like a Mammoth out of Bones ?)
Funny enough in the anime Twin-Head Thunder Dragon actually has Twin heads.
If we do get a new artwork for Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon, I hope it looks similar to how it is already in the sense of, rather than looking like a cool two headed dragon, it literally looks like you fused two thunder dragons together, taking inspiration from the neck mouth and weird joints like the current one has.
It would be hard to make it fit into the new thunder dragon art style but I think it would be cool

The older version looks more iconic. If anything, the new Thunder Dragon support should lean into the original more.
I dissagree, due to a certain ps1 game twin headed thunder dragon is iconic to a lot of people. Due to that, we should give both colossus and titan new artwork to look like twin headed thunder dragon!

I do think a new artwork to make it a synergize better. Visually with the rest of the archetype would be good especially since it’s a pallet swap of a car that nobody likes.

How often do new art versions of cards come out in YGO? I know in Magic one card could have half a dozen different pieces of art or even more if it's a card that's gotten reprinted a lot. And that's obviously not counting lands, which get multiple new art pieces every set each.

Love how quick content CZcamsrs keep refering to these monsters as just palate swaps. They are the same charatcer models/concepts with different colors. The reality though, is that they were no less effort. Keep in mind when the card game came out they were using artwork from the manga as their models to then create the card game monsters from. There wasn't a lot of material to use to create a whole functional game off. They would use what Takahashi gave them. They would redraw the monsters form images in the manga and make bew mobsters frkm different panels. They still needed to redraw the prior images just the same and they were in different poses. A way to ubderstnad the difference is like the difference between a reskin clone in a fighting video game, vs. A pallete swap. The later just triggers the program to fill different preset colors to the exact same model. The former requires somekne to create a new skin entirely that fits the prior character. Yes, it is less workt than creating everything from scratch but is still a lot mroe work than color swapping. Now add that this video game already sarts with the premade madels and they are just skinning over them already but some they make two skins for the same pre-made model, and you gave what is going on. You guys have been attacking some talented and hardworking artists/workers for years to take advantage of low hanging fruit through cheap misrepresentation of the process. You present this wrongfully to gett he biggest emptional reaction but dont care rhat you are strait-up lying to your audience for this so you an benefit at the expense of others. Beyond that..this has been done to death! You are bringing NOTHING new. Aren't you being a hyge hyprocrite for just "pallet swapping" the same lazy video a million others before you have made?
what bugs me about this archetype is how colossus has a better protection eff than titan, even though titan is much harder to summon like wtf...
Don’t need an artwork change on some thing that doesn’t matter. Don’t try to compare it to engage. It’s on a whole Nother level about 100 stages below.

To be fair, it's not a full on copy-paste, considering the poses are changed.
The problem is that it's an extremely old card that nobody uses anymore. Why go through the effort and resources to change it now?
Get a retrain of it instead, and change up the artwork with that instead.

There's so many of these that'd it'd be too much work to go through them all. No one even cares about THTD in a positive manner. People literally only think of it when they remember how much sense it doesn't make. You'll most likely never see a re-issue.

so "iconic" in fact that not only did it it not see any play, but even veteran goat players don't even care about it. there's a vast difference between alt art for a meta warping card, and a card forgotten in time, and ignored in its heyday.

People say this is lazy and palette swaps, which they are, but the images are not just flipped, they’ve obviously been re-drawn, if you’re going to draw another monster, why wouldn’t you just draw a completely different one instead of recycling an existing one?
Unless they drew a bunch of different concepts for the one monster before it went to print and then they just recycled the concepts later?

Perhaps you are correct there. However, the original creator passed away. And Japanese culture tends to preserve and respect the creation of their predecessors.

They did not change Engage!. They introduced the another sky striker which already included in the archetype.

I dislike when people call these "copy pastes" because they're in entirely unique poses. What likely happened was Konami commissioned two pieces of art for some monsters, then changed the colors for whichever one they liked the least and made that art go on a new card.
PLEASE stop calling them copy pastes. This implies the same art in the same pose. These are 2d pieces of art, not 3d renders!
I don't see how it saved time by changing the color palette, they still drew the monster in a different pose. Sure they didn't have to come up with a completely new design but it wouldn't have saved them that much time
