The BEST Fry Sauce! (Copycat Recipe)

- FRY SAUCE: not everyone has heard of it, but it's a common and highly sought after dipping sauce at any popular burger joint in Utah and Idaho. Growing up, homemade fry sauce was a staple on Saturday night burger night! Speaking of burgers, this fry sauce is AMAZING on them! Try dipping your grilled cheese in fry sauce too... soo good!
Now that I'm a mom, I carry on the fry sauce tradition with this even TASTIER version of the recipe. Rather than a 50/50 mix of ketchup and mayo, I've got a handful of spices that really makes this fry sauce totally restaurant style quality!

Kitchen scale. Lol. I'm in co but ok. I LOVE this recipe. It had exactly what I was missing for THE perfect recipe. So if you add just a MINISCULE amount of cinnamon, and a smaller amount of nutmeg it is blue ribbon material. I mean amounts so small that the way you test is to baaaaaarely put a tiny tiny tiny pinch until ONLY YOU can taste those ingredients. It's going to enhance all sorts of flavors and give it a real nuance. If a stranger can taste your recipe and tell either there is nutmeg or cinnamon in it....unless they're a decent professional...you put TOO MUCH. That's my secret recipe. Love doing that in chili as well w cinnamon although now i may have to try a little sample with nutmeg applied with the same peincipals and see if it also compliments those flavors. Cooking is so fun. Neverending variations, methods, and possibilities.
Test in small batches. Nothing will make you madder than a tiny amount of spice rendering an exponentially larger batch of sauce inedible.
Well, that is a super interesting addition! I think I'll give it a try though! Thank you for sharing your secret with me! :)
Thanks for the quick videos without all the nonsense. Thumbs up for all of these great QUICK recipes. Cheers!
You are welcome!
I added 1/2 teaspoon of Horse Radish, gives it a nice kick ! thank you for all the great recipe's !
Cathy, this sauce and your French Fries are the best!!! My husband said he never had so perfect meal and was amazed to hear that no frying was involved. I used Russet potatoes and followed all your tips - they turned out just as they should be. Thank you very much for sharing and teaching us how to Air Fry! 👍😍🌹
Hokey jumpin! I just got an air fryer. I just cooked my first meal in it! I just subscribed to your channel to learn to make amazing things. We had a whole chicken and beets. They were awesome. Then I made fries and tried your fry sauce. You've ruined me for ketchup. Thank you for sharing it. Its amazing. I'll keep watching. I think I found my new best friend in the kitchen, my air fryer and my new favourite video channel to help me, thanks Cathy!
We love fry sauce! Mine is super simple. Equal parts ketchup and mayo, and a whole bunch of ground black pepper. I’m talking like a tablespoon for half a cup of sauce. Trust me, it’s amazing and not spicy at all. We always have this in our fridge!
OK I'm totally going to try this! It sounds crazy!
Never heard of this! Definitely worth a good old NJ try! Thanks!
It's so good!
Gonna be making this and using your fry tips this week! Thanks!
1/2 cup mayo, 1/2 cup sour cream, 1/4 cup hot horseradish, 1/4 teaspoon Smokey cayenne pepper, 2 tablespoons Tabasco or Franks Red Hot. I especially like this on bacon-cheese fries. When my fries are done in the air fryer I toss in a liberal amount of Colby Jack/Sharp Cheddar mix and crumpled bacon and throw’em on a papered baking sheet in the oven at 300 for 5 minutes. Nummers!
In New Mexico it is called "Freddy's Fry Sauce" ..
Thank you for sharing this great video.
Just made it and this sauce would be soon good eith fondue meat!! Thanks
Looove fry sauce! Thanks for the recipe. I will try it.

Your Fry sauce is legit! I've swapped the Ketchup/Mayo with Japanese Kewpie Mayo and Whataburger Spicy Ketchup. So good!
Yummy!

I make my fry sauce with 1 Tablespoon thousand island dressing and 2 Tablespoons barbecue sauce. So perfect💯🙏🏻❤️
Honestly the best fry sauce I’ve ever made was a mimic to freddys, it’s mayo, ketchup, pickle juice, and a bit of their seasoning.
Nice!
Pickle juice sounds amazing!

Back in the early 90's I lived in Twin Falls, Idaho for almost 2 yrs due to my wife's job transfer. Worked KTWF Airport for Skywest Airlines. Also drove a Potato truck for extra money.

Hi Meghan! Glad you love it :) You can keep it in an airtight container for 3-5 days in the fridge.
@@empoweredcooks awesome! Thank you!! ❤️

It's sooo good!
The close caption doesn't match up with the video. The sauce was really tasty once I got the recipe to try it thank you. 🙂
Hell yeah
What can I use as substitutes for the Worcestershire sauce & the red wine vinegar?
? what they said
Whiskey, and I'm not kidding. Is called coctail sauce where I live Be
So good trying to find copycat recipe for Freddys fry sauce tried this and it tasted pretty close
Glad to hear it!
Hey cool , recipe. What's the meaning behind your shirt if you don't mind me asking.
Sounds like the dipping sauce for blooming onions, I use chipotle sauce for the spice, not hot & delicious. Don't forget hot wings & baked potatoes!
Oh that sounds super great! Thx Denise!
I like it to be made the way it's supposed to be ketchup and mayonnaise
Well yes if that's the way you like it then that is how it's supposed to be made. But what if someone else makes it a little differently and that's the way they think it's supposed to be made? That's why we have vanilla ice cream of different kinds. And chocolate of different kinds. And Neapolitan of different kinds. You might try this just a little bit less amount and see if it might be a new addition. Do you know try something different. Change does not kill you... it was Maxine the old lady in the cartoon says, "that which does not kill me just makes me grumpuet.' Ha ha
If you want a fry sauce like the one from Freddy’s, skip the Worcestershire, and sub the vinegar for pickle juice.
Thanks for the tip!
And use seasoning salt.
The comments section is inundated with "yeah but MY recipe is" comments. There should be more "I tried it and I liked it" or "I tried it and this is what I thought" comments. Well, I suppose I'll have to make it and leave a proper comment! :-) BTW your air fryer video on french fries is about to be my 1st ever time using the air fryer, so there's that too. :-)
My sauce is..mayo.ketchup n Cristal hot sauce all mixed with with garlic powder n blk.pepper
I don't have red wine vinegar ...
Only raspberry vinaigrette.
What can I do, please ?
If no vinegar, will it taste bad ?
Hello! You could use regular white vinegar instead. Raspberry vinaigrette will not taste good. You could try pickle juice instead?
When I was growing up, ketchup was our fry sauce. 😂
How long can you keep this Sauce for.? 🤔
3-5 days
I've been making this for 30.yrs.. where the fk has everybody been?? ma mum showed me this when I was a teen .. I'm 50 now
Heinz ketchup is every Pittsburgher's fry sauce
That’s 1000 Island salad dressing lol
I didn't read many of the responses, but if you haven't put BBQ sauce in your fry sauce your missing out. So funny how people in most of the country don't even know what fry sauce is. Make it simple using Mayo, Ketchup and BBQ sauce. I don't know amounts, I just do it to taste and everyone's taste is different.
Great tip! I'll have to try it!
What kind of mustard? I didn’t catch that
Ground mustard. I looked in the description, and her recipe is there.
👩🍳🐈⬛🍽🥤🐈👩🦼🌴Yummy YUM!!!
That's the same recipe for KFC's FLG sauce.
Good video, but wow, a lot of work for what looks like a single portion for me. I would not bother soaking in warm water, the proto-fries would quickly cool to room temperature when removed from the warm water. Lots of dish washing afterwards too: the boiling pot, the rinsing bowl, the fryer tray and the plate(s) that the fries are put into. And the cutting board. And the knife. Then flossing. I'll try air frying tomorrow.
I may be 12 but I am still capable of making this. Ok so I'm editing to my comment after I posted it and when I made mine I thung I used to much Worshersauce and I died have any red wine vinegar so I had to use something a little sower umm lime juice...
Good try! I would not swap out lime juice for red wine vinegar though.
I don't have The hard to pronounce sauce
Here are some substitutes! food52.com/blog/24403-best-worcestershire-sauce-substitutes
Nobody can say that one. My son used to ' whatever' sauce.
Why did she go to 68 grams, which she also communicated in the voice-over but then you can clearly see her add another gram to = 69grams?
A little more or less doesn't matter, just adjust to your preference.
