This week, I was inspired to build something medieval and fantasy because of some leftover knight minis. Originally I was going to feature a sea serpent, but I had to switch monsters mid build. In the end, it all worked out! I'm very happy with the result.
I followed a mini painting video from @AngelGiraldeZ for my dragon.

Dude. That flame gout is one of the most realistic miniature flames ive ever seen. My jaw is on the floor, brb gotta go find it.
It's on the floor.
@@josueduran6881 To be fair, maybe the floor is shrouded in the darkness of awe.
It does look amazing!
It’s crazy realistic
Agreed. It's why I clicked!
“My cousins out fighting dragons, and what do I get? Guard Duty.”
“Some say you may be the Dragonborn, that’s a high honor”
yoooo what’s up
I used to be an adventurer like you; then I took an arrow in the knee.
One guard said that to me literally right after he helped me kill a dragon in falkreath
What’s the matter, somebody stole your sweetroll?
This turned out absolutely incredible!
Thank you! Appreciate you watching!
I 100% Agree Nerdforge!
Really love how the fire curves, definitely gives the feeling of an angry, mid-blast, course correction.
Really adds the illusion of action to a static diorama!
Funny, or maybe even ironic, but you had to pivot on this project yet it turned out to be among your best ones. This one is very effective, simple in concept but the execution is damn near perfect. Beautiful piece.
There are no mistakes - only happy accidents 🙂
I agree, he nailed it. The dragons fire chasing him as he rides by. Definitely one of my favorites
@@Jan_Strzelecki You took my words right out of Bob's mouth.
Ok, so you're going to also begin an imaginary medieval town series to run concurrently with your imaginary wild west series? Got it! Great idea!
That would actually be so cool, the possibilities are limitless
hmmmm… then he can merge the two into war!
@@SmexHex Wait, a war? Oh just great! Who am I supposed to cheer for; the steampunk cowboys or the jetpack knights?? 😳😥😮
I always love if when you use the cotton for fire technique! It just works so well!
Your favorite youtubers watching your favorite youtubers... That's how a real community feels like!
I really like this 'character focused' pieces. Get me wondering whether the knight survived or joined the unfortunate fella on the ground there. But I like to think he made it, barely. Either way, both dragon and knight are locked in a struggle and one isn't walking out alive. I hope you do more pieces with such focus on character moments in the future, specially for your wild west setting
judging by the posture of the dragon that knight is about to get swatted off the horse rather hard, particularly if he goes for the stab. if not he has a chance to circle back around for a better angle and a more lethal stab.
@@etopsirhc Nah--he's at full tilt--that dragon is dead to rights. That Lance is going right through its guts. It might fly off to die elsewhere, though.
Thank you for getting me into the hobby of modeling!!! Love the content
Me tooo
😃
What things have you made so far?
Same!
Same!! Studson and Boylei have both been soooo inspiring for me 😊
@@sapphic_sophie Studsons stuff is so killer. So much imagination!
Thanks for the mention!, ❤❤❤
Of course! Thanks for your excellent tutorials! I look forward to learning more from you.
This is definitely one of my favorites.. I like the idea that the dragon is chasing him with the fire as he turns his head. That looks perfect, you freakin nailed it. Very well done.
This looks so real and accurate, very cool. Sooo awesome
OMW THE FIRE LOOKS SO GOOOOOD. This looks freaking great. Love what you do
Amazing this as always, my dude! As for the serpent, maybe you could still use it with more murky water? Like, a swamp or runoff. Personally, I think you could customize it with more of a prehistoric worm look, place it in a tar pit, and put it in your weird west setting. The California tar pits seem like a natural fit.
Piggybacking off of this, maybe a snow serpent ala Subnautica Below Zero?
that fire looks awesome.
The path of the fire and the irregularities in the brightness of the flame. Just perfection
That volumetric flame effect is absolutely phenomenal. Much respect, sir! Unbelievable skill, emersion and general kudos. Wow.
The curved flame adds so much movement, it looks amazing!
I gotta say, that is the best fire I've ever seen, this one turned out so good! Adding all the movement in really added something.
Besides his amazing projects, his narration is the best. I love his use of intelligent humor. The parts about the Neapolitan trifecta and "the flame should look like cheetos, but not flaming hot cheetos" were killing me. 😂
It's amazing how good that fire looks, I haven't heard of painting a diorama to look like directional lighting although I don't consume much diorama content so maybe I'm just living under a rock, perhaps you could utilize and display this effect in a future project.
Best cotton flames/explosives you’ve done. You keep getting better and better
Oh my gosh that flame is so good! It's amazing! I can feel the heat coming from it!!
That turned out absolutely incredible - nice work Boylei!
My good sir, you've outdone yourself once again
I love the curved flame. Gives motion and action to the scene, and tells a story
The best fire effect I have seen in dioramas. One example of the phrase "less is more"
Once again blowing everyone away with these small but amazing dioramas. I think this is my personal favourite of yours so far.
This is amazing. you should make a western build with a rickety old ocean monster hunting submarine resin build with a big sea monster, you have inspired me to attempt to make my own resin model, thanks so much.
Good call on the flames, curving it brings it to life, our Hero galloping toward the Dragon with him trying to keep up and toast his attacker. Sweet dio.
The Star Wars dioramas was always been my favorites, but I think they just dropped a spot. A Dragon with fire using led just went to number One. Thanks for all the fantastic work.
Great stuff as always, the fire effect looks fantastic! I'm wondering if the figures you have left could be used for a series of knights Vs creatures from myth/ legends?
^^^^^^^
This
Seconded
3rd
The positioning and poses are perfect! The curved flame really makes it feel like the knight is just barely escaping a fiery death. On top of that, the knight has been able to rush the dragon and is poised to strike its exposed belly with his lance. You can actually see the story in this diorama. Its looks to me like the knight made a risky gamble to charge the dragon, nearly getting charred in the process, but that he will now gut the dragon and strike it down. Very good work!
Also, as for the sea serpent, maybe you could have it coming out of a tar pit. This might make for a unique diorama will avoiding the drawbacks of the partial serpent design.
🙀🙀with all wires hidden it's just AWESOME! WOW!
Wow. Breathtaking. Breathgiving. Just wow.
Good morning. For a possible video you should have the serpent on a large body of water with a small or large boat going past it. Something like the serpent’s pass in avatar the last air bender.
Good morning
Good morning
Good morning
Good morning.
Good morning
Love your "think-aloud" commentary throughout your projects, and here I appreciated the example of how one can pivot when the sense & respond cycle of experimentation tells you things just aren't going where you planned. 😃 Cheers!
If this guy ever saved all his creation and opened an exhibit/museum I would take my friends and family there.
You already know that this guy is gonna win best dad of the year award when he has kids and makes them stuff like this
Nice work mate . It reminds me of the many hours I spent fighting dragons in Skyrim 🙂👍
Even without the lighting that's one of the best fire effects I've seen. The curve adds so much to the realism. And with the light on the effect is absolutely incredible. You've really outdone yourself here, great work!
bending that fire ploom elevates this to a higher level...the suggestion of motion makes it really dynamic!!
The fire turned out amazing, I could spend hours looking at it
Love it. You encouraged me do do this diorama/scratch bashing stuff :)
I would love to see more from this medieval series!
This is the most realistic flame I have ever seen! Incredible
That fire effect looks incredible. Simple but so effective.
This is phenomenal work. I absolutely love how you posed them. There is no certainty of the outcome. It’s an invitation to imagine what happened. This kind of balance is my favorite type of fantasy art. Thank you very much for sharing.
Looks amazing, the scene and setting really tell a story! and those fire effects... wow!
The motion of the fire is really superb. Takes the project from good to great.
That flame looks so realistic, what an awesome project.
This is very nice work
I love the way the dragon fire came out. Really nice job with the lighting.
Such a simple build but one of my favourites! The dragon's pose really tells all the story in this fight!🙌🤌
I’m amazed at how that cotton ball flame looks!
I love the detail of the fire curving as the dragon follows the path of the knight trying to get him.
Very nice!
oh my WORD, this turned out beautiful! That curved fire was an incredible touch, it adds a whole new dimension!
Nice work! The dragon looks great in particular and yes, Angel Giraldez is a genius painter.
Every time you say "I called it good" it gives me some confidence in my own hobbying. I think it's because I have trouble knowing when something is "finished" and the way you phrase it reminds me that it's finished when I decide it is, and I really appreciate that.
That fire looks unreal! Well...REAL!
I’m assuming you had very little time to switch directions and still get the video out this week, which makes the end result even more amazing!! Visually this is one of my favorites ever, and it literally looks like it’s a snapshot of real fire! Awesome job!!
Holy SCHNIKEY! That is some of the most amazing looking fire I've ever seen on a diorama! You've inspired me to get over my trepidation with using LED filament. Excellent piece!
Wow! So simple but so effective. Thank you.
Amazing. Its like every diorama tells a whole story
Great composition. Attention is drawn by the brightest fire at the dragon's face, then you follow his eyeline to the knight's head and the lance leads the eye back to the dragon and around again.
You can see how much tape he's used compared to his older intro
That final shot looks like something you'd see in a movie.
Absolutely stunning! Every single time!!!
This is still such a great build! However, I would still love to see the sea monster idea you had. Maybe you could look online to see if they have prints of the monster's curved "midsection" and try to edit it in blender? Hell, since it's a Critical Role item, you could just email Matt Mercer to see if he'll give the file to you! That man is one of the kindest people in the TTRPG community
Hey Boylei - It's improbable you'll see this but I think it'd be awesome if you recreated the Hobbit scene with Smaug being drowned in molten gold! If you see this , and I hope you will, will you respond please?
The best one yet. More medieval!
That knight should have been Dragonborn!! That looks so bloody epic!!
I would really like to know more about the filament work. Where to get it, and how to connect it. I have some ideas to implement it in some of my stuff but I'm afraid of electrocution.
That dragon breath flame is absolutely incredible 🔥🐲
The flame thing was the most impressive part. Very cool diorama
Amazing work. The flames really pop.
Never ceases to amaze me how good that cotton and LED technique looks for making fire.
Amazing build as always!
Безумно классные работы! Огромное спасибо за ваше творчество!!!)))
The flame is just jaw dropping! So realistic. I love this little diorama!
Ooph! The knight is going right for the groin 😳
The lighting effect, and the sense of motion from the curving flame is super cool.
This has to be one of the top 3 coolest model dioramas ever made!
Absolutely amazing work! What an artist. Thank you for sharing.
That's the most realistic fire I have seen in a diorama.
This is absolutely incredible. The simplicity of the composition really makes the fire effect take center stage, which it deserves!
Excellent choice to slew the fire gout. The whole scene looks fantastic.
DUUUUUUUDE! Absolutely fantastic work! MORE medieval fantasy dioramas PLEASE! Maybe a creepy dungeon crawl scene lit only by the adventurers torches or the glow of some magical treasure they discovered?
Could be your best project. The flame is absolutely amazing
absolutely beautiful piece. you have an amazing talent here. please keep sharing!
So inspiring.....
Wow that flame effect is top shelf!!!! 👍👍
Stunning project with a great visual effect.
I would be delighted to see more of this medieval theme....
Maravillosa creación. Arte + Tecnología juntos 👍
Every video I watch I am more and more impressed with the craftsmanship
This is incredible!!! I am blown away!!
Daaaang!! Your decision to bend the flame really brought the diorama to life.
WOW. Stunning work.
The dragon's fire is damn great!!!
Turned out phenomenal. Those little led filaments are super versatile.
Love the curve in the flame to give it movement, as if it's being sprayed right to left, chasing the knight. Very nice👍🏻
