    Excellent review. I ordered a fully loaded Mach 1 (Appearance Package /Handling Package 10 Speed Auto etc.) from Ford in March. And took delivery in late July. I have owned two Mustangs already, a 2009 (six banger) and a 2012 GT (modified). I traded the 2012 for the Mach 1. So I have had some previous experience with the Mustang. Anyway, after watching the your review, I agree with your ratings. One thing I think I do disagree with you on is the need for a shaker hood which the originals (69 and 70 as well as the 2003) had. I see no need for it, other then aesthetics that is, based on the engine configuration. But that's my personal opinion. As for handling, the car is superb. Around town I keep it in normal mode (well, except for the exhaust note and steering that is). On the highway, Sport + or even better, Track. I only experienced the issues you spoke about during the break in period. Track mode on the highway is like driving on rails for me. The biggest down fall, and it is to be expected, is that the car drinks gas. It is a small price to pay for the pleasure of owning a 2021 Mach 1.

    I think this is the best “all around” mustang for the street and track! If you get the performance package,which i would,i would get a different set of tires for street use,as the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s will wear out very quickly due to their softer compound and they are not all-season/wet weather tires! I would also get the Tremec 6-speed manual transmission and the Recaro seats in leather! I would also get it in the fighter-jet grey color!

    I saw a Jet Fighter Gray Mach 1 in person a couple of weeks ago. In pictures, I didn't dig it, but in person it actually looks better than the pictures. It's a different type of gray than your traditional boring gray on all other non-performance mainstream cars.
    The Mach 1 is cool. I think it should have at least 500-510hp and 406-416lb-ft of torque to be the true middleground car of the Bullitt, Shelby GT350/GT350R, and Shelby GT500. Running the same performance specs as the Bullitt is a bit of a let down and would seem like it would be more of a Performance Pack Level 3 (if they had named it that) versus a Mach 1.
    Manual is the only way to go driving these cars. No ifs ands or buts about it. That being said, I think the world is ready to see what the S650 gen Mustang is going to bring to the table. Rumored intel was brought out months ago that the Mustang might finally get a 4-door muscle sedan version to finally battle the Charger. Ford has not confirmed that nor deny that either. If that turns out to be true, it would bring some much needed fresh air to the 4-door competition sport sedan segment because let's be real here. The Charger is overrated and although it sells, it doesn't come with a manual like the Challenger has which is a let down and people are tired of it being the only game in class where Chevy and Ford have nothing to give any competition to Dodge with the Charger.
    [Side Note: There was the Chevrolet SS Sedan which I actually own and which is technically a Holden (VF1 and VF2) Commodore from Australia, but now that Holden is out of production in Australia and the Chevrolet SS Sedan was just a 4 year and 3-month limited production run with no advertisement on the car which was poor marketing on GM beancounters, the only 4-door sedan the Charger Hellcat/Hellcat Redeye would give compete with is the CT5-V Blackwing that's on the way. Yes, while the CT5-V Blackwing will be down on power compared to the Charger Hellcat and Charger Hellcat Redeye, it will definitely holds it own even at its starting price $84,990 for the CT5-V Blackwing and unlike the Charger Hellcat and Hellcat Redeye, Cadillac offers that car with a 6-speed manual and I would take the CT5-V Blackwing paired with a 6-speed manual over any Charger tenfold.]
    Back to the Mustang, with the S550 gen the end of its life cycle, it's time to see what the S650 gen Mustang will bring to the table. If a 4-door Mustang sedan comes to fruition, it will definitely help with the sales of the Mustang nameplate alongside the traditional 2-door Mustang potentially giving Dodge something to worry about. A 4-door Mustang sedan with a 6-speed manual or maybe even upgrade the 6-speed manual to a 7-speed manual (like the Porsche 911s, C7 Corvettes, and Aston Martin Vantages have), offer 4-door Mustang Shelby models like the 2-door Shelby GT350s, GT350R's and GT500s, and instead of calling it just a Mustang, call it a Mustang 'Falcon,' paying homage to the Australian Ford Falcon nameplate and I guarantee that a Mustang Falcon and Mustang Falcon Shelby will certainly get the attention of Dodge and Mopar owners and fans as well as Mustang and Shelby owners and fans without a doubt. 🤞🏽crossed the 4-door Mustang sedan becomes a reality for the S650 gen to take on the Charger once and for all.

    • @CarCoachReports
      @CarCoachReports  Před 3 lety

      I hope they don’t make a four-door sedan. That would make the Mustang enthusiasts very unhappy. In addition Ford is not making any sedans at this time other than the Mustang. And it looks like no more manual transmission either. 😕 I like how you’re thinking but I don’t think Ford‘s thinking the same way. Last I heard they were talking about making the Mustang all electric. I hope not or I won’t buy another.

    • @antoinelee-thomas9536
      @antoinelee-thomas9536 Před 3 lety +1

      @@CarCoachReports I respect your opinion on not wanting a 4-door Mustang. You're right that Ford said they were done with sedans (and hatchbacks). We can both agree that's because the foreign automakers (Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Subaru, Nissan, Volkswagen Lexus, Acura, Genesis, Cadillac, Infiniti, Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche) all decimated Ford/Lincoln, Chevrolet, and Chrysler. Dodge is just hanging on because the Charger is popular, but being built in Canada, the only true "domestic" sedans that gets respect is Cadillac's CT4/CT4-V/CT4-V Blackwing and CT5/CT5-V/CT5-V Blackwing because obviously is doing something right.
      Back on the Mustang, it would suck if the manual transmission is lost for the S650 gen. Will it even be a Mustang anymore without it? Look at what Tadge Juechter of GM did to the C8 Corvette and infuriated the Corvette community after the C7 Corvettes. No manual in the C8s. And the C8s keep getting halted on and off and it's not even about the semiconductor chips for them. It would be very weird to hear about a Corvette generation becoming a bust at the end of the C8's life cycle. I'm sure you seen the pictures of an S550 gen Mustang having a manual transmission without an engine in it. It was posted last year virtually if I remember correctly. That said, I did hear something different. I heard the S650 Mustangs will remain gas-only, but one model might get paired with a mild hybrid setup for its next generation. However, after the S650 gen Mustangs, then just like what you heard, that's when it's been said it will go full EV in 2029 as a 2030 model year. By then, the Mustang will no longer be a Mustang with all of those batteries making it far too heavy than an internal combustion engine vehicle is. All of these EVs are beyond annoying. I can't imagine an engine-powered Mustang going from 3,532-3,825lbs to double the weight with EV batteries galore. I don't mean that in a good way at all.

    • @CarCoachReports
      @CarCoachReports  Před 3 lety +1

      These are my feelings exactly. However when it comes to city and no one is really selling many of them and city and sales across the globe have dropped off dramatically. This is why many brands have reduced their selection and you’re starting to see this even with the German product.
      As for the mustang I have heard the same thing. There’s a lot of angry people in the Mustang and Shelby club who do not want to on electric vehicles if they did they would buy one. There are some people who have bought the Mach e, i’m not interested in that at all. And many people that are true current easiest or not. Either way manufactures are being pressured by the government to produce electric cars whether we want them or not. They have tried tax incentives which have not worked. This only helps the wealthy people purchase these vehicles and the average person cannot afford to sell their vehicle for the increased insurance costs, charging costs and the vehicle car payment in addition to increase taxes.
      I’ve already expressed my concerns to Ford motor company as high as I can go which is pretty high. They are well aware that if they remove the combustion engine as well as the manual transmission people will look elsewhere and that includes me.
      Porsche tried this at one point, and guess what happened they are now offering manual transmissions again. Not sure why GM did the switch to the paddle shift. But it’s certainly not in the spirit of what Corvette is all about.

    If I may, let me ask you one extra question. I know you like Ford (as do I), but consider this scenario. I'm looking at a Mach 1 (A10, non handling pack) which at MSRP comes in around $58K. A '22 ZL1 (with A10) as I'd spec it probably has an MSRP of about $68K. Let's say the real world purchase price difference is somewhere between 7-10K more for the ZL1. Assuming the difference wouldn't materially hurt one's finances, would you spring for the ZL1 in this scenario? Maybe another way to think about it is, if of these two and without agonizing too much over the $'s difference, it woud be your only sports car to drive for the next 5+ years, which one? I've only briefly driven the ZL1 and was impressed by it's stunning acceleration, but not enough seat time to really consider daily life with it vs a mustang, etc. etc.
    Thanks for your time.

    • @CarCoachReports
      @CarCoachReports  Před 3 lety +3

      Honestly, both cars are amazing in performance. However, the seating is so uncomfortable in the Camaro and the limited visibility I’d buy the Mustang. The ZL1 may have a higher resale value, but you have to live with the car for 5 years. Yikes.

      This will be a total let down. I'm selling my Audi RS5 to buy a 991.2 GT3. I understood why you sold it, but this will not make you happy. Buy a GT500 it's like a GT2, a beast. This car is a starter sports car

      I had a new 2014 GT500. It was too fast, powerful, wild for me. The GT3 felt much safer at high speeds but +$25K profit after two years was hard to pass up.
      I have had 7 new Mustangs in my 70 years and have no plans to track anymore. Most cars are impossible to get now at Sticker, ie, C8. The dealer I bought the 2014 Shelby GT500 is offering me the Mach 1 via a new car order for sticker. I ll put everything on it. Debating manual vs automatic. The Mach 1 in that Jet Fighter color appeals to my eyes. I am estimating a 2-3 year ownership until this economy normalizes and I can get a 992.2 GT3 or Turbo S. The Mach 1 may be a fun car to placate me. You seemed to enjoy it in your above video. Of the 20 plus video reviews on the Mach One I viewed, yours was the BEST AND MOST INFORMATIVE. I subscribed. Keep up the great reviews!

      The Mach 1 HP is a GT350R with a Coyote 5.0. And you also get more tech. If you want a different exhaust note, and the Shelby name plate, get a GT350/R. Otherwise, the M1 HP is the best naturally-aspirated S550 Mustang ever made (performance).

      I have to admit I like that look better myself on the originals, but have you seen them on the newer ones? It doesn't do as much for them. I don't know what I was expecting from the shaker hood look on these new models, but I thought it was going to set it off, like a set of nice wheels would, but nope ... maybe it'll grow on me

  • @smitty858
    @smitty858 Před 2 lety

    Mach 1 with handling pack has adjustable struts. Your tram lining is either the result of negative camber from the struts adjusted or bad tire wear (since this is a review car), not from having 305s in the front. Also, you incorrectly stated that the air vents above the splitter are not functional. In fact both sides of the vehicle are function. Also the plastic pieces on both sides of the Mustang logo are removable to add airflow to radiator on track days. Comments suggesting this is an overpriced GT PP2 are unaware of the additions Ford made to the Mach 1 including all the added coolers, lighter (by 2 lbs) and stronger wheels, plus additional 150lbs of downforce from the larger front splitter and rear gurney flap.

      I know for sure if Ford can sell the GT350 they will make it. They have done this is in the past, they will return the Shelby name with a GT350. Look at the pattern of the past vehicles. If they go all EV on the Mustang, I’m out. I will never buy another Mustang ever. We collect and restore old Shelby’s and Mustangs. They will lose their buyers.

      @@CarCoachReports I am TOTALLY with you on this. When Ford went on its 90's international brand buying binge, they acquired a lot of brilliant minds from the new technology arena. I am under the impression that these "green beans" are dominating the discussion in Ford's executive wing. Ford has been, and should always be, a name synonymous with high performance gasoline engines. As you said, if they ever lay the gas operated Mustang to rest, then Ford would be done. Truthfully speaking tho, the days of affordable naturally aspirated muscle appear to be fading. smh

    Ok let’s get things straightened out. Those fake fog lights can be removed. The drivers side has a tube that feeds into the CAI. Those wheels are not black. They are carbonized gray and are gloss . Those vents are for the trans and engine cooler . Plus rear diff cooler in the rear defused. Dodge doesn’t build a track car period. Chevy relies on a push rod engine with a wimpy 6500 red line. The mach 1 red line is 7400. Your review was kind of lame.
