Also the only similarity between downtempo and nu metal is the detuning and Chugcore (who call everything nu metal for some reason). It's like lumping Pantera in with Korn and the rest, or calling Meshuggah nu metal because they use the same tunings on Nothing. Nu metal is more than its guitar tone, use of a DJ or including rapping, believe it or not - just like how something may not be necessarily thrash because it's fast, has a solo or has lyrics about the devil. Thankfully Spite aren't downtempo and this is a pretty good cover. Considering they're on Staysick (or were) the nu metal elements they definitely do may be a bigger thing in the future. Nu metalcore is definitely a genre now.
Honestly, I prefer the gutturals over the screams. The slam at the end was one of the most brutal things I've heard, and the gutturals came out so well. I love it.
This cover was particularly good at how it got deeply mixed into the deathcore elements. But other than that, nothing will ever be heavier than the original "Slipknot - The Heretic Anthem" for what it always is, For me at least. But good job anyways! (y)
Im mixed on the Carnifex/Spite who did it better, i like both, carniffex has the starting numbers, spite has the kick ass slam breakdown. both are good, Neither are better than the original though
I want Spite to cover this song again NOW. Darius has improved as a vocalist so much in the last 9 years and their new producer Matt from Ashtone Audio would Murder a new version of this cover.

Carnifex is shit overall though. They have an OK at best, metalcore-ish sound with lots of fucking whiney, relationship-based lyrics. Spite has lots of insanity/anxiety shit, very much like Slipknot. The feelings truly show in the music.
