People love Rodigan because he intro his dubs with Jamaican Historical Facts. The only other person that I've seen done that is Ricky Trooper. That's why they both get so much respect Globally and not just Locally
He got that from downbeat
Nuff time Rodigan uses misinformation when introducing his dubs. Trooper point it out more time and use it to kill him. With that being said however, Rodigan is really a student of the music.
And also Tony screw from downbeat. He also usually give u history about our culture\musical culture.
He knows the local history/sub culture everywhere he goes, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Birmingham, London, Germany, Jamaica ect... Sir David ram jam rodigan.

Fast forward to 19:33 - This one is real time machine music for me....I'm taken back to 1979 when the original press of Dennis Brown's To The Foundation on Hawkeye Records with Trinity on the toasting was released. My goodness instant eye water business....tears of joy taking back to the old days of soundsystem.... Drop dis ina dance and everybody rope in with pure peace and love vibes.... For those who don't know about real soundsystem style, the sounds that were carrying the swing back then here's a few that use to mash up the dance with this tune, and many others to say the least.... Stereograph - King Sturgav - Unity - Java - Kilamanjaro - Alpha International - Sir Valdez - Fatman - Shaka - Volcano - Saxon - Tipperetone - Sledgehammer - Coxsone to name but a few...and then you had the blues dance in a house or a flat.... sometime you pay £2.00 fe get in and sometime you don't. But many a time you get nice food too...curry goat - rice n peas - roti and chicken curry.,.. then when you belly full, buss a drink and tek in de music.... happy times ah tell you.... . incidentally i was a very skinny youth back then...why?... because most of my dinner money was not spent on food...i use to save it up to buy tune lool.... yes people, belly empty - but my heart was full....full of love for these beautiful reggae riddims and melodies that i felt compelled to buy because i loved them so much.. From D brown to Barry Browm, Al Campbell to Gregory isaacs, Wailing Souls to Twinkle Brothers - Micheal Prophet to Barrington Levy ...the list of talent of real musicianship is endless regarding these old reggae tune....40 years later and tunes today still cannot test them as far as i'm concerned....as i mentioned on here before, Today music Shelf life = Zero... Oldskool Regage Revive = FOREVER... ok ok i done now lol

I appreciate the way you've explained reggae, and being from a similar generation, I agree when you say the reggae of today (with the exception of a few good artists eg Chronnix, Morgan Heritage, Lila Ike) is throwaway reggae. It's a genre where the further you delve into the archives, the more fascinating it is. Rodigan demonstrates perfectly. No 'bashment' needed here.

Big up the legends. First off all weepow hired Billy slaughter to defend stone love not Rory. Rory is not a clash DJ. I lived in the UK for a few years and I noticed that the British DJs I knew archived their music. It almost seems like they rate and hold value to our music more than we do. That's why Rodigan and tell you what year a song came out which studio it was cut, all what colour shirt the Artist wore that day they recorded a particular track probably all tell you what they ate for dinner that same day lol!!
