    Shane Lloyd, It’s more likely the pipes got switched during repair. You may be able to correct the situation by just reversing the hoses on the back of the washer. When you select cold water fill, check the hose going to the cold side of the water valve. If it is hot, you can just change the hoses. If it is cold, you may have a problem with the water temperature selector in the washer.

    I have a G.E GFAN1100 Front Load that all of a sudden, slowed down the wash, and (continuously) would pause/stop/door lock/wash, then stopped, and started to hum until I had no choice but to unplug the unit, for fear of overheating and causing a fire, while the door stayed locked, unable to finish the wash cycle.
    I checked and cleaned the pump at the bottom exterior and realized that, with all the rugs that I had washed over a period of a couple of years, had delivered the very tiny rubber bits from the rugs to the pump and was quite clogged. Now my husband is trying to clean as much of this gunk out of the pump, but unsure how far back he can reach through the small opening at the bottom. We were wondering how long the hose is and the direction it goes in order to do a good job.
    I hope I made myself clear enough to understand :)
    I now know better to check the pump more often as the manual didn't mention that, and this was all new to me when we bought the Front Load :(
    My husband now says, he has released quite a bit, so if we succeed in starting the machine, will the water, push the rest of the gunk out?
    Thank You for reading this, and any help would be appreciated :)

    The problem with front loaders is that they break often (especially the outer drum spring eyes) because people overload the tub. They treat them like laundromat machines. There is a difference between "heavy duty" and "commercial". The old Kenmore direct drives were a lot better. Their only disadvantage is that they use more electric than front loaders.

    • @repairclinic
      @repairclinic  Před 9 lety +3

      Psycho9263 Overloading the machine will defiantly cause more wear and tear and cause it to fail more often. As with any machine proper usage plays a big role in the performance and longevity of the unit. Thanks for the comment.

    • @orangie8426
      @orangie8426 Před 2 lety +1

      Durability also plays a role too.. manufacturers have fallen into the addiction of using plastic where metal should really be used and cutting production costs then make the appliance look pretty and advertise how great their machine is stick a fancy worked up name tag on it and charge you your left nut to buy it..
      Then the consumer feels they got something good based on all the rant and rave over a name reather than the actual quality of the appliance and then wars and bad feelings and enemies occur when the machine breaks..
      Lets face it...
      No mater how well you "treat" an appliance, if it's built like crap or built using cheap parts, it's not going to last no matter what you do.. and in this day and age, almost everything is built crappy..
      Manufacturers want to build things cheap and charge you more so they make more money and so the machine breaks prematurely so you pay for buying another..
      Yes treating a machine bad of course will make it break even quicker... sure...
      But they break after just 4 or 5 years anyway even if you baby the crap out of it and do everything right...
      And that just should not be..
      A good appliance should last you trouble free for decades..
      Not just 4 or 5 years..

    Hi, very nice and comprehensive video.
    I have my washing machine(Electrolux EWF1486HDW) that just today has started to give problems. It fills up and then it stop with a error(E10) which it means that the machine is not filled with water...but it actually it is.
    A thing that I noticed is that the water before was coming from the pre-wash side of the detergent dispenser for a wile and then would switch and come from the wash side of detergent dispenser.....now it fails to do that. So what do you think? I cleaned the drain filter, I checked water inlet filters, water pressure it looks as always...Otherwise the machine drains and spins as normal.

    I have attempted to cure a water leak on a very very old washing machine and appear to have distorted or bent something in that I can feel metal 'graunching' against metal when I rotate the drum by hand.

    We have a 10 kg. LG front load machine.It was purchaes as "Factory Second" We suspect that it was used. The transit bolts were missing & the water hose was dirty on the outside.
    According to the "Water Use" lable on the machine, it is supposed to use about 86 litres of water ob "Cotton Eco" cycle. There are dry patches on the clothes during the wash. The dry patches remain throughout the wash cycle. The total water use is about 27 litres. I suspect that there is a problem with the water volume.
    Do you think that the machine is malfunction?

      It doesn't shake when we run a cycle with an empty drum. (No clothes). But as soon as we try running it with any amount of clothes it shakes alot. We made sure legs and washer was balanced. But its still shaking bad. My husband was wondering if it could be the shock absorbers. He says the washer sat for years at a warehouse not being used, when he bought them.

    • @repairclinic
      @repairclinic  Před 10 lety +2

      San Me Very first thing to check on any front loading washer that is off balance or vibrating is the shipping bolts in the back. All front loading washers are delivered with shipping bolts to stabilize the drum system during transportation. These bolts must be removed before use otherwise the machine will shake and bounce around significantly. If the bolts have been removed there could be a problem with the shock absorber system that supports the drum at the bottom. We also must mention the leveling legs. Always check to make sure they are adjusted correctly and that the locking nuts are tight to the base of the machine.

    My LG front load washer originally stopped working and posted an IE message on the front, so I changed out the inlet valve and checked the hoses to make sure water was filling in. Then it worked and water started pouring out the front of the drain. I looked inside and a little water filled the inside, but mostly all of it was gushing out. Everything was closed and intact, but the water was coming out of the drainage release. What could be causing this problem? I haven't seen a video on it yet.

    • @repairclinic
      @repairclinic  Před 9 lety +1

      If water is coming out of the drain hose when the washer is filling, the drain hose may need to be raised higher than the water lever in the tub or it will start siphoning out. We are unsure what you are calling a drainage release. There is a drain pump cleanout in the front. If water is leaking out of that, you may need to retighten the cleanout cover.

    Having two water inlets, one for hot and one for cold, sounds very inefficient because you then use hot water from the hot water tank. It's better to have just one cold water intake and use internal heating elements to get the correct temperature, such as 40 or 60 degrees celsius.

      ***** There isn't an easy test for that part. Some models feature a diagnostic mode that you can cycle the unit through to test each component. The instructions are normally on the wiring diagram/ tech sheet in the control panel.

      I was considering it, but assumed the word explained itself.
      If not: take a look at the lock and see which wires connect when the lock closes. Then remove those wires from the lock and attach to each other or, add an extra wire which links them. Washing machine should now think the lock is closed all the time.
      Put back lock (no need to reinstall it, just put it back behind the cover) and rubber.Turn on a program and see if there is a difference in how the machine functions. If there is no difference, the problem is located elsewhere.

    Too bad most newer front loaders don't fill with enough water. I had to adjust the water level switch on my LG washer, just so it would fill with more water. Otherwise, the clothes hardly got wet. Even so, my old Frigidaire front loader from 1999 washed my clothes better than my new LG washer. I would have kept the Frigidaire had it not been on the fritz.

      Modern front loaders are way better and the water used is more than enough

    • @davenwin1973
      @davenwin1973 Před rokem

      @@stephensnell5707 that's not what I'm hearing from people who have been long time front loader users. I was one of those who had that problem where my LG that I bought in 2012, filled with barely any water, that my clothes did not get wet at all, compared to my old front loader. I fixed that problem, so I would have clothes that were wet, and tumbled in and out of water. Before I fixed my washer's lack of water, I didn't get to someone else that I knew who got her first front loader, and also complained about not it using enough water, that she went back to a top loader. I don't know what brand my former co-worker got, but for the LG I bought, was the entry level model, that filled by sending all of the water down to the shell of the tub, creating a rising effect. As a result, it takes forever to fill the tub, even after adjusting the water pressure switch. Most other models, and the mid-level to high end LG washers use a recirculation pump to spray water on the clothes, taking less time to get all of the clothes wet. I can't judge for myself if those models fill with enough water, but it needs enough to get every fiber wet and stay wet, and to dip in and out of water throughout the tumbling cycle. 11 to 13 gallons is not sufficient at all. 18 to 30 gallons is what it takes to effectively get clothes clean. 18 gallons for the lightest fabrics, and up to 30 gallons for the heaviest fabrics. I find 3 rinse cycles work better than 2 rinse cycles.
