  • A compilation of College Football moments and games that cost the losing a team a spot in the Playoff. Without these losses, there is chance that these teams could have made the College Football Playoff, but with the loss, they were completely eliminated. Keep in mind this video only spans from 2014-2020 since the CFP has only existed since 2014. In this video I only featured the most notable instances of "Playoff costing" losses, but there have been many games that could meet the criteria. Let me know any games that you believe should have been included. Feel free to comment ideas for future videos. Enjoy!

"...for throwing the LSU player's shoe 20 yards down the field" is the greatest penalty announcement since "giving him the business." I love the exactness of "20 yards"--like, if he'd only thrown it 15 yards, it wouldn't be a penalty.

Yeah I was there in 2014, such a tragic play to happen in the single best football game I’ve ever seen in person, and Ole Miss never got that close to the playoff again, though they did come together and rally later that year to knock off Mississippi State. Really it wasn’t necessarily that play that destroyed Ole Miss, but after the 2015 top-10 Sugar Bowl win season their program tanked due to lack of position recruiting, bad coaching, and the Hugh Freeze and NCAA debacle that essentially hammered that program up until Lane Kiffin has started to turn things around, but yeah the Treadwell play was crushing

      (12-1) SEC champs Georgia
      (11-1) Alabama

In 2020 ACC runner up (10-1) Notre Dame was vying for a spot with:

      (10-1) ACC champ Clemson
      (6-0) B1G champ Ohio State
      (8-1) Texas A&M
In addition to this list, 2017 Wisconsin played probably the weakest schedule of any of the teams on this list with their best win being against a 3 loss Northwestern team. If 2017 Miami hadn’t lost to Pitt, they would’ve had a good enough SOS that they would’ve probably made it in even with a loss to Clemson like 2020 ND. That 2016 OSU-UM game was the craziest ref job I’ve ever seen. Everyone talks about the spot but the phantom pass interference call in the end zone was worse. Although I do agree that spot was terrible.
This video made me realize just how great the CFP announcing teams are. Some of these calls are iconic.

He runs into the back of a player who is standing on the line, but still gets the first down. That call made me so mad.

@@SarumanOrthanc I remember that specific play and how happy I was that they were reviewing it and then they came out and said he got the first down and I was furious

5:00 that's gotta be one of the best ill-advised cutbacks I've ever seen, dude cuts hard as hell and then bursts away at 3x speed 😂
