Motherfuckers tore it up. I’m from Chicago and grew up on house/ techno/ underground music since late 80s, and Detroit in terms of music I feel is blood to us, plenty of similarities but far more differences in feel. It’s always so interesting to hear Detroiters’ take on a lot of the same music that was so much a part of the Chicago scene, and how similar but different the Chicago sound and the Detroit sound are from each other. This set has so much uptempo funk and is always exciting. So many sets nowadays are/ get so flat and monotonous and have a ton of filler tracks. Thanks guys for a great set and keeping my attention span engaged.
I will never understand how people can just be standing around at these venues. What's wrong with them? Dance your f**ing asses off! Move your bodies! Do something! These beats are insane!

I see a lot of that at the videos of overseas parties too. People standing there on their phones and swaying.
I was a Bay Area partier from '91 to 2000. No smart phones, so drop your party favor and dance until the sun came up.
I think it's partly because todays techno requires more technical mixing skills and doesn't rely on big build ups or 'drops.' You need to concentrate on it more to get it and appreciate the skills. Older techno was better for just having a good old rave to :-)

that's d bass we used to drive around with our windows down even in the dead of winter trying to hear that bass in the distance then try and follow it to the party. that's if we didn't have the scoop on where it was. it changed all the time we didn't have websites to go to we had to call a number off of a flyer at a specific time that left a short message with an address.

Saw these guys when they came over to the UK in 2013. They played at a warehouse venue in Leeds and on the same night me and a friend managed to blag a b2b DJ set in the back room. Managed to catch their whole set as we were playing later on. Proper no bullshit, no filler techno from start to finish. Was a pleasure to see them.

most of the crowds of boiler room sets are this way. why? hell if i know. ive never been to one. i see a lot of boiler room sets on youtube and theres always comments about how shitty the crowd is. who cares. the camera is focused on the dj (djs) for a reason. boiler room...all in all...main focus is the dj (djs). i use to look at it as disrespect or just these people who get in to watch have no soul. always felt bad for the artist...then i started to realize im missing a great set. funk that.
regardless...i almost forgot just how ill this crew is. im glad this video was here to remind me. ✊✊✌✌

Tester2244 I love the whole vinyl is magic beliefs. It was nice in its day but digital allows for so much more, especially when the right DJ is using the tools. 1 DJ can do everything those guys are doing and so much more, all in perfect time thanks to sync.
+busywl69 But wouldn't you say its better to hear how DJ has full control of beatmatch? Other than that I noticed today's DJ's even with sync don't do anything else than just mix a track in and out. Where is the mixing in between and tricks? That's whats my point, that sync just takes away couple of options and self belief of a DJ. Not to mention record collection digging and stuff like that. I guess DJ standards fell very hard after 2006.
Tester2244 Tricks are for kids. I just want to hear new music, without it being all goofed up by edits and FX. I tend to listen to the music, not the technology. So I won't go into checking out a set looking at the gear used and letting that effect how I enjoy the mix. I also won't pretend that one way of DJ'ing is better than another.
You can record dig any way you want. In fact I know a some hip hop peeps who consider youtube the new way to dig for stuff. New generation, new ways. I've heard some digital DJ's do some incredible things with their sets without messing up the music at all. Great stuff. I've heard some pretty bad vinyl DJ's play, some of them were well booked too. You can get bad with any format out there.
Luckily most people who go to see DJs play do not care at all how they play. Theday that a DJ is considered boring for just mixing great tracks together for a set is the day the art of DJ'ing is truly dead and for the smart phone generation. Listen to the music, not the tech.

The music is always what matters. Luckily normal people care about the music, not whether it's 2015 technology or 1970 technology. A great DJ plays great tracks.
In fact it's better to despise promoters who book bad DJ's who play nothing but chart music. Seems bad promoters, venues and bookers get a free pass. To put all that energy into actually thinking a digital DJ can't rock just as good as a vinyl DJ is just silly ot me, and most normal people.

I will always remember the Red Door after hours joint,The Leland City Club, St Andrew's Hall,The Shelter &The State Theater and all the Raves in the warehouses, the basement parties where it all started and ,The pool parties at the hotels, I hit them all! I miss all those days , I know it's not the same anymore , these so-called new DJ's ain't pushing Technic 1200s anymore , Bank putting in work like the Pioneer DJs such as myself did technology allows the computer to do most of the work for them , what a shame!!! It's called syncopation. He's hitting effects and soundscaping on the off rhythms. I've caught myself dancing to strange rhythms myself when I find interesting things that aren't on the down and up beats. My feet try to move to the up and down, but my hands and head start moving to the off rhythms. It's quite a [horrendous] sight, I imagine :P
