Putting a 17pdr through the front plate of a Tiger is a special kind of historical accuracy i live for.
Honestly, killing German tanks in a Firefly is the main reason why I grinded British tech tree
But them the same 17pdr cant pen Panthers its so frustrating
@@bastik.3011 It can pen Panther’s frontal hull when it’s not angled but not a very reliable way to kill.Just shoot the turret first.

While these things are annoying to fight, I acknowledge the Brit’s need it. No APHE, no good caliber (until firefly). Truly a different kind of hell

People laugh at me for choosing the British tech tree, but at 4.7-5.3 I dominate with the Firefly. They are underrated Tiger-killers.

the Sherman Firefly is one of the best tanks at 4.7 with the Sherman 76 and T 34 57.

0:40 and 0:50 basically sum up my entire experience with Britian past 2.7. Basically bouncing off slightly angled T-34 or KV because of some random mcgubbin or bullsh*t game physics, and then dying instantly because you have no armor. Unless you're playing the Churchill, which for the 4.7 version has 90mm of pen on its stock round. Anyway, sorry for venting, I literally just got f*cked by a soviet tank for the 50th time and needed to let loose
My experience at 5.3 is Reversing IS2, and the Engine deck + turret combo, is a volumetric hell.
Skill issue. But for real the probable reason why soviet tanks are such a pain is because your positioning of the firefly is not advantageous or you shoot the soviet tanks in a point were they still can remain a threat. If I ever play against the soviets and I ever get into a close quarters combat (which btw you must avoid at all costs in the firefly) Aim for the flat surface on the right of their turret facing you, if at a large distance take out the large gun present on all 4,.7 and downwards tanks. I have 655 deaths to 1077 kills on the firefly in realistic it’s one of my most played tanks so I’ve come to play it as a sort of realistic AWP, if your rounds to powerful Itll pass right through the enemy of its well placed you can’t severely damage them or take them out completely

That show where you bounced off the tracks is because of physics. When a shell hits at such an extreme angle the tracks absorbi must of the transferred momentum, which is actually very little. As the shell skids along the tracks the fuse on the nose does not make contact with the armor plate and harmlessly ricochets off.
What fuse though? It's an armor piercing shell with no explosive inside. Hence APCBC or APC.

Yep, first one was produced in 1943 with the 50 cal directly infront of commander, but this posed the problem of the commander not having enough elevation angles for the 50cal to aim up completely. Hence when they developed the M4s with the 76mm they placed the 50cal on the back of the turret so someone on the outside could stand on the engine deck and aim up rather than the commander having to contourt themselves in wierd angles. British not using their Shermans while the USA school is using those skirts, dust shield or something around their tracks which were unpopular with US military.
Side note, I still prefer Sherman 2 in this BR than Sherman Firefly, idk...the tank is a slug for me while Sherman 2 is a slower M4A1 Sherman but feels right at home, can't help but to get angry Players who got out-skilled tho.
I like American Shermans, yes they have less pen but they have stabilizer

This tank is OP in War Thunder but on WOT it's pretty terrible to me.
I'm pretty sure almost every single tank at the Tigers BR can penetrate the front plate and some in the BR below it
