For those of you who don't know why people are freaking out about MVC2 in particular:
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 has basically been in video game jail for something like 10 years - yeah, since 2013, when Capcom lost the rights to distribute it. We've been putting up with playing it on emulation, which has been pretty decent, but all we've wanted was for it to have its support retained and updated into the modern console/PC era _officially._
That this has emerged from what's essentially Gaming Purgatory is a _big fucking deal,_ not just for MVC2, but for the franchise as a whole.
For 10 years one of the best fighting games ever was literally IMPOSSIBLE to buy.
No one will pay 50 dollars for this when Fightcade already exists. This is just a novelty and nothing more.

It's my favorite thing about Nintendo Directs. You can't ever ignore them. Every Direct is going to have something in there, somewhere, that is going to be the game that SOMEONE in the world has been waiting their entire life for.

I love how everyone after the initial reveal started giving their input and talking about the game but max just kept screaming
I'm so glad this didn't leak before being announced. The genuine shock and joy around the community has been amazing. A couple years back Takayuki Nakayama (SF6 Director) started posting classic Capcom art from the vault with a lot of MvC art. I'm assuming that was a tease, but we didn't dare hope lmao.

This and Echoes of Wisdom were absolutely my favorite parts from the Direct, so I'm definitely glad this got a good compilation! I definitely liked how a Nintendo Direct (even though the collection is not Switch-exclusive, which is good) of all things could make so many fighting game players and fans flip out so much in the best way.
Also Metroid Prime 4 and DQ3 remake release date!
Poor Max was so taken aback. He brushed off someone saying MvC2 was coming to Switch prior to the Direct starting and didn't even have any gift subs ready as he had expectations at an all time low. His poor brain had a hard time trying to process what was happening. Still happy to see he got his wish as well as everyone else who wanted this. I am in full support and will definitely pick up a Switch physical copy and Steam version of the collection. I did play the PS2 version of MVC2 way back in the day and the arcade versions of MvC and X-Men vs SF back when I was in Puerto Rico.
