I had a conversation with an older gentleman (60-70 range) and he was the most arrogant, disrespectful person I have ever come across. He was yelling at my co-workers, so I decided to see the problem. He turned and looked at what I was wearing (blue polo, yellow slacks, and a red baseball caps) and called me "one of those rainbow loving f*****s" so I got my manager, who told them to leave. No joke, the old dude turned and said "you are showing no respect, and bla bla bla bla bla." At one point my manager pointed out the lack of respect he showed and he returned with "you should always respect the elderly, why should I respect someone younger? Its your generation that is ruining our country with the respect is earned mentality bs nonsense that is propagated by leftist news" (or something to that nature, it was a few months ago) He eventually left, and I quit my job to focus on college a few months later. I havent seen him since.

storytime: my only time in the mental hospital (3 years ago!) i was in the "living room" area of the ward, and one of the middle aged ladies somehow put on a christian channel and it took a few minutes for anyone to do anything about it. Then she started talking to me specifically about the dangers of hell and all that. My main trigger was (and still is) my trauma with religious homo/transphobia. So no, that definitely did *not* cure me.
My experience is a mixed bag. Usually, it's the older, more conservative types that are a problem as well as younger, more ratchet types. But I work a job with a high turn over rate and a shift lead that has no idea who/how to hire decent people. So, your mileage may vary.
A lot of older people feel that because they are older, they should automatically be shown respect, regardless of how they treat others. I personally think that is bullshit. I mean, in a case where an older person says something that would normally cause me to smack the shit out of somebody my own age , I will of course not do that. And that is about as much respect as they will get if they are just a mean person. I will tell them where they can stick their attitude though, and I will be colorful about it too. I don't care how old you are, what goes around, comes around.
I love how Candace Owens was complaining about poor grammar, and then wrote "I don't care your reasons." If you are going to complain about bad grammar, at least use good grammar while complaining. Also, they/them is a singular pronoun and has been for hundreds of years.

If it's any comfort we used to actually be worse about consent than that. The "no doesn't mean no" used to actually be the norm. Like it's to the point where "Baby it's Cold Outside," was and is actually a song about two people who want to stay together that night. There seriously used to be more pressure for women to say no even if they wanted to say yes and that helped feed not taking no for an answer. Because sometimes, genuinely they WERE saying no when they meant yes. So yeah, don't be too scared, we've over all made improvements in regards to consent.

You obviously misunderstand. The Bible doesn’t call for a master-like relationship. There is no real subservience called for. The teaching is that women should respect and honour their husbands in return for their husbands protecting and providing for them. That’s not too much to ask really and I guarantee any family will work a lot better if the husband does his job providing and protecting and the wife respects him for that. By definition this system creates a hierarchy between the two but that is certainly not a bad thing.

If it's any comfort we used to actually be worse about consent than that. The "no doesn't mean no" used to actually be the norm. Like it's to the point where "Baby it's Cold Outside," was and is actually a song about two people who want to stay together that night. You obviously misunderstand. The Bible doesn’t call for a master-like relationship. There is no real subservience called for. The teaching is that women should respect and honour their husbands in return for their husbands protecting and providing for them. That’s not too much to ask really and I guarantee any family will work a lot better if the husband does his job providing and protecting and the wife respects him for that. By definition this system creates a hierarchy between the two but that is certainly not a bad thing.

Really, it's just "My opinions are fact/gospel and I'm morally correct, therefore good, so people who disagree with me are objectively wrong and immoral and I must make them change their view/self so that they can also be morally correct. I will no longer be morally correct if I do not actively convince others that they are wrong and I am right." There are deeper reasons, like being a religious zealot or perhaps a narcissist, but the mindset is usually pretty similar.

Pretty sure the guy who said “you want your teeth knocked out?” was the guy I encountered. I worked in a grocery store and kindly asked the gentleman to put a mask on or wear one of our provided ones, and this man looks at me and asked if I wanted my teeth knocked out. He was promptly removed from store premises.

Maybe, though there can be some overlap. One Country song I often hear is "God is Great, Beer is Good and People are Crazy". It's literally about faith in God, drinking beer and people doing unexpected stuff, as you might imagine.

I might have commented this before, apologies if so, but Robin reading about the synthetic frogs made me suddenly remember... In 2nd grade, we did a dissection of sorts as well, but we were kinda just tearing open owl pellets - those little hairball-like things some owls cough up that has the non-digestable bits of their prey in them.
It was still incredibly bizarre, but certainly a lot better than killing a ton of frogs just to traumatize a load of kiddos. Or at least as far as I can tell.
God listening to you do this Robin, especially when it comes to politics feels like a breath of fresh air. You aren't afraid to point out how ridiculous it is and it makes me feel sane. Since it's exactly what I've been saying and I feel like I'm usually talking to brick walls.
