    So many good options. It comes down to personale preferencer in the end. I have run marathons in Alphafly, Vaporfly and Saucony Pro 3, but my favourite at the moment is good old Adios Pro 3. The upper is tricky but i love the natural ride that still offers a lot of bounce

    Alphafly 3 for me as the race shoe, just discovered the Asics Superblast and that would be the shoe I would use for the vast majority of my training. They are, in my opinion, the best two shoes for marathon racing and training that you can buy today, along with the Hoka Rocket X2 for the shorter stuff!

    The AlphaFly is my racer of choice...but if I was forced to run a marathon in the Novablast, I could do it without issue and still run a good race for me. I'd caution first time marathoners from looking at shoes with lower level drops (6mm and lower), since you will feel that drop in the last 10km. So if you don't have strong calves...it can turn into a sufferfest.

    • @timtrenholm3698
      @timtrenholm3698 Před 4 měsíci +2

      @@FlyySlyyGreenLower level drop shoes naturally make you engage your calves more. Which is fine if you are an experienced runner running tons of volume and know you can handle engaging your calves this much over a marathon. But if not, going with 8mm or higher is a much safer bet. I wore 12mm drop in my 1st marathon. I wore 4mm in my 2nd marathon and even though I managed a respectable 3:30hr the last 5k was brutal on the calves. I ran my 3rd marathon in 8mm and it was a non-issue.

    I’ve had the saucony triumph20 and ran 2 half marathons in them. Very comfy, protects your legs and feet throughout the run. Not the best shoe for speed though, but it’s fine. I say it’s the best shoe so far, in terms of comfort. Been testing out in running stores for other shoes that offer the same comfort. Saucony may be on the pricy, but it’s worth it, plus they go on sale too. 😊
    Now, I am thinking of running a full marathon… unemployed now so just want to make my time productive, plus running makes me happy! 😊

    Have ran all my marathons in the alphafly v1. Really wanted to run Boston in the AF3 but Nike is making impossible for runners to get a pair in time so considering changing brands for the first time, or just run in my old AF1 which have around 200kms on them. This videos is just what I needed to start thinking about a plan B. If only Nike made it easy for us to give them our money 🙃

    Picked up the Saucony Triumph 21 for $99 USD today! Getting back into running and the Nike Pegasus 40 and Nike Structure 25 have done well for me on my short runs (2-5 miles) but I wear them for everything and I've been looking for an opportunity to pick up some shoes for longer runs during my half marathon training. Partially because I don't want to keep wearing out my daily wear shoes.
    Usually not thrilled by Prime Day deals and other shops were also selling for $95-99ish but Amazon was the only one with a decent stock of various sizes and styles. The Saucony site had the best deal but were sold out of all but one size and REI was selling for $95 but only one style and also not available in my size.

    The other CRITICAL thing that runners need to consider for their marathon shoe is lockdown. If the shoe makes you slide and move around or heel lifts at all, you are in for a BAD day. Doing a long run effort where you run similar elevation changes as your race course and doing some pace changes from long run pace to goal race pace should make any potential lockdown issues known and give you time to try and resolve it, or pick a better shoe (for you!).

    Would you recommend a specific pair of shoes for Boston Marathon? Thinking specifically about the hills in Boston, up hill and downhill, which shoe would be most suitable? My options are Alphafly1 or Vaporfly2. Slightly favouring the AF1 bcos of the additional cushioning for the last 10k downhill.

    Hi ! a quick question regarding the NB 1080 v13..... does the upper expend a bit lenghtwise ?
    I’ve purchased these in my regular size for my first marathon, but my big toe is close to the end on my left foot (which is quite longer than my right one). I’ve just done a quick test and I could feel my big toe slightly touching the end of the toebox when I ran, I was wondering if it does extend a bit with time.I have very narrow foot so I think it wouldn’t be a good option to go up half a size.
    let me know if you think this could work or if you think these could be too short for Marathon distance :)

    23:17 “it’s not overly squishy and unstable.” Might be unpopular, but that was exactly my opposite experience with the Endorphin Speed 4. Very mushy, and wobbly.

    For “Best training and racing” I would not recommend Magicspeed 3. I have both Superblast and Magic Speed 3 and they are both excellent, but Magic speed is only for faster pace. In slow pace is very stiff and unpleasant, due to carbon plate and low stack. I can more easily see Superblast as fast pace shoe than Magic Speed long distance.
    PS. They are both very beautiful!

    The Puma Velocity Nitro 2 are poorly made shoes. They used low quality materials, which causes the shoe to lose its structure after a few kilometers. The laces don't look like they're from a shoe designed for running, and the tongue gets out of place. There is a very big difference in construction with the deviate nitro 2, they are very similar, but with enormous differences. I think all brands do the same with their models to reduce the cost as much as possible.
