Ah, the good old days when a London Ambulance would be on scene in only a minute or two!!! 🤣🤣

Looks like the Leyland DAF too thanks to the rough suspension the casualty will suffer further back injuries on the way to the hospital 🤣

And nothings changed, the met driving like r soles and blaming everyone else. And getting away with it.

Probably because back then people understood they were to be called out for emergencies, not because you needed a prescription renewed or you felt a little depressed.

@@highdownmartin Errrrr...the Lancia pulled out on a car showing flashing blue lights and sounding a siren, and you still blame the police?

Filmed at the Lombard trading estate in Morden. Same place the sun hill building was based for outside shots of the police station 👍
My dad had a business there and i often got to watch it being filmed!

Best looking police car of all time. Good stunt at the end! Rare to see a car chase in London.

My god this is brilliant! As much as a piece of British motoring history as piece of great TV - but the fact it's pretty raw and exciting to watch too certainly doesn't hurt.
I just love seeing all those old cars on the road - the parked ones AND those old tyre-smokin' RWD machines like the SD1 and the Capri (the Austin Metro....maybe not so much! haha). I also love the general street-scenes of early 1990s Britain - How I remember it as a kid. All history now of course, hence the deep nostalgia of these clips!

This was genuinely thrilling!! Incredible driving and camera work, suspense. No wonder The Bill was so popular. Swearing too!! Lovely old cars, like the Lancia Beta 2+2. Saw a nice Renault. SD1 and Capri as well of course.
So difficult to date this. 1990??

It was an era of great telly and iconic cars in my opinion ive owned a few SD1s and a Capri in my time. Series 7 was broadcast between 1st January - 31st December 1991 so i suspect it was probably filmed around 1990 👍

@danvitesse5850 We've lost that: everyone used to tune into the hot TV programme of the time and talk about it at work or school the next day. Now people are binge-watching boxsets to catch up with their friends.
      That Renault was an R15.

    • @budekins542

The Bill was popular. .but not because of car chases. It had about one car chase every few years.

  • @darylyatestransportblogs

A UJD SD1 must have been direct from the Met as it was around the time SD1s were being replaced would guess the real Met helped out the production team with props.

Funny to see cars from the 60s and 70s still plentifully driven in this scene.. pretty sure i saw a ford Corsair and a Marina.

Glad to see the Austin Metro had to give way to a Rover SD1 patrol car and accept the fact that it was too slow to pursue a car as fast as a Ford Capri.

Why do they keep calling it a Sierra ? It’s clearly a Rover SD1

    • @LosAngelesRaiders
      @LosAngelesRaiders Před rokem +4

"Sierra Oscar" was a call sign from uniformed officers on the beat or in an area car. Nothing to do with the Ford Sierra.
To confuse the matter more, smaller area cars like the Austin Metro Dave Quinnan was driving were called "Panda" cars.
