The significance of this video would be much greater if something was shown about how the newly opened space would be used, and what was done to substitute for the loss of that dining space.
Thanks Joe, we will be updating with the 'after' soon, stay tuned and thanks for watching!
This opens the space for a variety of needs
Hi Joe, we have an overdue update on the space, is this more helpful? czcams.com/video/jhHDGoWtYFo/video.html
He said that now she can have her table and chairs.
You can use the space for anything you want. Maybe a table and chairs, maybe make a nice office space or more furniture for comfortable living. (That would be my preference.)
Really well done video! No goofy talk or humor for 20 minutes. I’m looking forward to checking out your other videos. Thanks !😊👍
Awesome! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this video. I have a Keystone Cougar 2018. My granddaughter and I tore the dinette out to make room for addition seating and a nice cabinet which hold one of our litterboxes. It's a perfect fix. Next we are removing the partial jacknife sofa to put in my orthopedic bed. Can't wait! 👍😊
That is awesome! So glad you all had a successful renovation, it's so much fun to personalize spaces. Thanks for watching!
I agree with this change, I have always hated those miserably uncomfortable dinettes.
They explained in the video that they intended to replace it with table and chairs .
we finally posted an update, check us out
Just saw the video. Although I agree missing storage is sad, definitely prefer separate chairs j& table for a more "homey" feel. Ih, personally really hate the standard valances. Love seeing ideas for updated window treatments. ☺
Thanks for watching, we miss the storage but we're trying to reduce having stuff. We've found we tend to hide stuff in our storage areas, stuff we end up not needing 😁
Awesome! 😊 thanks!!
we're still so happy we removed it, it was just taking up space
We are just preparing to do the same thing.....Great video....Thank you...
You can do it!
Good looking rig guys. Removing the booth sure opened it up. When buying our new rig a table and chairs was a must have. We're like being able to move the chairs around when we have a lot of people visiting. And it gives you more of a residential feel. Good job guys. Happy RVing.
Thanks DeCampers, we certainly love it. The dinette was the only the we didn't care much for when we bought her 😁
@@Findingourspot yeah... we don't like having to slide in those dinettes. And they're just SO rv looking. Do you have an update video?
Hopefully soon
Just found you... Hubs and I are new to van life and love videos of RV remodels and rv life. TFS this great bit of info. Have a great day
Thank you! You too!
Looking good!
Thank you!
Just found you guys...love the name! Doing this same thing right now in a much older--vintage, haha--motorhome. Encouraging!
Hi, so glad you found us! Welcome to the fun! Have fun finding your spot too!
That cafe style dinette set is the first thing to go! Great job! Enjoy!
Thank you for watching, have a good day!
This helped with removing ours. The last few seconds were EXACTLY what we needed. Thank you
Awesome, glad it was useful. It's so much better without the dinette!
I'm sure you have a plan. However, you gave me a very good idea for my trailer that will really be a help. Thanks for the vid
can't wait to see your idea come to life! thanks for watching!
Thank you for the video. I am planning on purchasing a class A motorhome upon retirement in a couple years. I don't even own a motorhome yet and already know that the dinette is the first "upgrade" I will do! So much more space for living and to be honest, a nice t.v. tray will work just as well for my wife and myself.
Good luck with your new purchase, we love that the dinette is gone.
I like it! Thank you.
Thank you for watching!
Interested in what you do with the space
A table and regular chairs actually takes up more space. Need to allow space to slide chairs out. Swivel chairs allow for easy access but are also a pain, predominantly in the knees. Have you considered narrow table along outside wall with small book shelves to frame window in place of the valance. We did that in one of our remodels. Built drawer cabinet to support table on either end to support table which gave back some storage
That sounds nice, we'll have to think about that vs what we have... Vid to follow soon
I'd love to see that. Do you have pics?
Wish I could do that, but my dinette has the fuses box in one lower storage area under bench and power for steps and light switches etc on the other side as you come in the door.. can't wait to see what you do with your extra space...
We just posted an update: czcams.com/video/jhHDGoWtYFo/video.html

Looks better. Feels better. Open space better than enclosed
Thanks, you're certainly right. The backrests would get in the way when the slides were in. Talk about a hip bruise.
I love our dinette. It’s my favorite part.
Just found your videos. I look forward to watching more..
I would love to remove my table and benches.. but each end has electrical items attached.. one is the fuse panel at the bottom...😟.. oh well... Will watch and see what else you two do.. Thank you ⚘
Just posted our update after living with it for a year. Stay tuned and thanks for watching!
This is super helpful as I want to remove ours. We just purchased a 2018 Keystone Cougar, 38' TT. Tyfs
Glad it was helpful! Congratulations on your Cougar, have fun with updating your space! We love that it's gone!
I liked it.
You are a beautiful couple!😀
aww, thanks Millie!
I really like the way you deconstructed the dinette, instead of just doing a demo with a crowbar. your way left you with re-usable hardware and some construction components that match the rest of the interior - though I totally agree that those window treatments simply needed to go far, far away!!
Thanks!
I thought so too...good usable veneers. I like seeing that they can be removed without smashing decent wood to bits.
We are thinking about doing the same.
Nice channel, congrats on almost getting to 3k subs!
I love this video so much
Thanks Bethany! You're awesome for watching!
nice, thani you
Thanks for watching!
For me (because I am a crafter) I want all the inside storage space, and love the booth. We did take out the sofa and replaced it with recliners and had room for a small side table with drawers, Made it moveable as when you pull out chairs you need it to move out too. Then attached a floor lamp to the back (removed the base) so light is where it is needed. Enjoy what makes you happy.
We're thinking of doing the same with our sofa. As a crochet addict (wife) I can say I have yarn stored in the most interesting places. But for current projects I always keep a basket with handles nearby so I can work in different places. As far as my collection (aka yarn stash), that's in the mini bar! lol. Thanks for watching! Love your YT handle!
How funny!. I've just recently decided to reconfigure my dinette. However, I'm now planning on converting the seating on one side into a closet above table height and an electronics bay below table height. I'll reinstall the table against the new closet and probably either make it easily removable, or hinge it on the cabinet front.. This will leave me a sizeable storage closet, possibly a pantry, as well as much needed space for batteries and power electronics for the new solar power system. I'll have room for a comfortable desk/ office space with supporting cupboards overhead for supplies and business materials, and I will still have a tandem dining space, i f I occasionally want to use it for that. Since this space is just opposite my kitchen space, I will also be able to use it as much needed kitchen counter space, when needed. When I went looking for additional space in my Class A, I soon realizer that the dinette was not actually being used much for dining; I was using it as an office desk, but mostly it had become a place where I stacked stuff for lack of anywhere else to store it. When completed, I should have a working/ dining/ counter space, a large closet, and an easily accessible electronics bay, protected from weather and temperature extremes. In addition, I will have freed up basement storage space, where the current batteries and other electronics currently reside.
Here's the downside: I'll need to modify the large exterior window adjacent to my dinette. However, I won't need it, and will simplify it by installing a smaller window adjacent to the tandem bench seat and red the fibreglass exterior where the original window was removed. I'm planning on a total repaint on the exterior, so a little body w?ork there will not be any real issue. On a practical, operational basis, I think this makes much better functional use of space, and it's past time this large, antiquated space be renovated. Thanks for inspiring me to push forward with this project!
sounds amazing, send some pics our way!
Thanks guys ! You gave me the confidence to try this myself !
P.s. You guys make a really nice couple !!
wish I lived near you . I be pickingup all your trow aways
Ww made sure to repurpose it all 🌎
Thinking aboutdoing the same thing.
Go for it! It was very satisfying and it's the least loved piece of almost any RV.
❤❤❤
I am curious if you like the table and chairs you said you were going to add. We have table and chairs in ours and are thinking about nixing the chairs and putting in two bench seats (added storage and at east one built in cooler).....
We're still liking the table and chairs, working on an update video
I wish there was more detail of how you removed it from beginning to end. But great quality 👌
The slide gets a little wonky when u unhook all those straight edges to it. We hooked some stuff back on for strength. Made ours into a desk wit an office chair
I think in a couple years we'll be pulling out our table and setting up a thin desk for 2 looking out the window :)
We have the freaking u shaped dinette and it’s super uncomfortable!! Unfortunately we have the water pump, fresh water tank and electrical under it. We are going to redo the cushions and see if that helps. All the fake cheap “leather” is flaking off too. Ugh!! Can’t wait till we fix it. 😎
Would like to know the types of tools used for demo.
I watched because I can't think of anything BETTER than a nice dinette. Was hoping to see what could possibly be better than what you ripped out.
Thanks for watching David, we have part 2 recorded and will be editing soon
Some older rvs have a water heater under the dinette. Complicates things
Oh wow, glad we didn't find ours there.
Is there a way to get seat belt bolts out since on slide in our RV??
It would have been great to see what you put in after. 😉
What did you to plug the holes in the walls after removing valances and the dinette?
We used wood glue and sanded it down to match the wall before painting
folding table and chairs ?
We have an Ikea table and chair set (non-folding)
Can the benches etc for dinette come out without ruining it? I have stage 4 pancreatic canceled and am moving into a small rv until my demise which my ex hubby witll then want to reninstall I just want a bistro set and a love seat
Hi Deborah, thanks for watching and good question. However each manufacturer makes their dinettes different. We hope your RV and travels provide some comfort in your days, much love and hugs.
How did you remove the seatbelt bolts from floor?
There were only 2 in the left area. We kept them there because they were the perfect width of the Ikea table we placed in the area. We attached L brackets to the table legs and then bolted it to the floor while we were moving
I find it interesting how many of these same topic videos there are on CZcams. I guess people just don't like the dining booths.
They take up quite a bit of space and are uncomfortable to sit in for long periods of time. It's nice to be able to move a chair when you need to.
Just subbed so that I'll get the update. The fully custom, walk-in trailer I'm building will not have a dinette either as it would take too big of a footprint. The plan is a collapsible table n chairs for stowage during travel.

looks maybe like a child was practicing typing?
Just updated our video... wanted to live with it a year first.
Where did you get the bin?
Hi andyr1960, we got the bin we used from target. But since then we've tried to find more of the same and have not seen any. Sometimes you can find similar ones in home improvement and hardware stores.
Hey this video just came up.. what kind of coach do you have? I will be checking out more of your vlogs
Hi! We have a Newmar Canyonstar
@@Findingourspot thank you
Hi, Curious did the removal leave holes that needed to be sealed?
To our surprise, no! We left the seatbelt bolts in place to anchor our small table we have now.
@@Findingourspot Thank you for your reply.
So, what did you install in its place ???
We have a small IKEA table, check out the follow up video in our list. It looks great!
Neat video. Not a big fan of dinettes either.
Thank you!
Where’s the dinette? I want it!
thanks for the inquiry, but it is long gone
thanks for watching our vids!
keeping my box valances but def removing the dinette and will replace with chairs and a table, much better for guest accommodation. Notice all the cheap wood they use...
We thought we were going to keep the valences, just didn't have room to store them. Newmar does ok with their wood, it's a step above the cheaper ones.
I dont think dinette are very attractive but I live in my rv full time and the drawer storage is about all I have.
We have lots of storage and needed the extra floor room. Maybe I've day we'll reconsider a dinette, but for now we can't imagine sitting in it. Thanks for your comment 😀
the way these things are built- they rely on all the internals for stregnth-- these are really expensive trash heaps
What are you going to do with the space?
We have a wood Ikea table there, we'll have another video soon with it
Hi Roger, we have an updated video on the dinette area for you, let us know if this works. czcams.com/video/jhHDGoWtYFo/video.html
So what happened next?
We finally posted an update after living without it for a year... check it out :) thanks for watching
I don't understand why anyone would do this to other than a stationary park model? 1st time you have to hit the brakes hard on the highway you'll understand why the booth was secured so well as loose chairs come tumbling towards the windshield.
We use the existing seatbelt bolts to secure the table and chairs. Hasn't been an issue for the past 3 years
Love the dinette being ripped out. It’s hard to find one without and to me it’s a big waste of space.
You're certainly right. Thanks for watching Lorena!
I'd never remove the booth.
It was a difficult decision but one we're glad we committed to.
Since it was in nice condition, you could have kept it together and sold it for someones build.
We reached out to the community prior to our decision and there were no takers.
@@Findingourspot I just hate to see useful stuff chopped up, it hurts my scavenger nature. I know that Bob Wells org, what is it called, RV Alliance (?) donates stuff for peoples builds and that would have been a good thing to give them. Just a thought.
OK 🤔 WHAT YOU REPLACE IT WITH 🙄
Will be uploading soon, stay tuned
Hi Paul, we have an overdue update on the dinette area: czcams.com/video/jhHDGoWtYFo/video.html
Why the annoying music pollution?
I don't get it...
Just experimenting with background music, some of the other channels do it too.
I find the booth storage space too valuable to remove. And a table and chairs take up more space than a booth.
We bought our used 28' fifth wheel from the original owner who chose the table and four chairs vs a dinette with storage. Granted, the table and chairs do give a nicer look (many compliments), I agree that they take up just as much space as a dinette without the usefulness of under seat storage and a convertible bed for the grandkids. If I was going to remove a perfectly good dinette and window trim like these folks did, I'd ask around to see if anyone would want them. We ended up with a nice free sofa recliner to put in the rear where 2 swivel rockers once sat. A gentleman was redoing his camper and offered the unwanted items to anyone in the camp ground. The color scheme was close enough that one would think it came in our camper that way.
that's what we love about the campground community, always nice to pass along things.
Hi Debbie, we've found in downsizing, if we have to place it in a shelf or storage area it's not worth keeping because we don't get it out to use very often. We look for alternate ways to display so we see it daily. thanks for watching!
and then what...?
????
question? shoot! thanks for watching!
Dinettes are so over rated in rv's.
You said it!!! Glad some of the newer ones come with options.
This shows Me why I would never own an RV. They are constructed so cheaply in an effort to save weight. RV's are already overpriced for what You get. Just a big money pit needing endless repairs.
Hi Larry, it's actually a great build. The Newmars are very solid. I would buy another in a heartbeat ♥️
How to destroy your RV.
lol, yeah - Newmar makes pretty tough dinettes!
Time wasted watching.
Sorry you feel that way, we tried to give some insight about how the booths are taken out.
