Let's Bring Achill to You! As part of our virtual tourism project, we walked to beautiful Annagh Bay in the north of Achill Island, starting and ending in Dooagh.
Hi! Welcome back to Achill (hope you find time to shoot some video - your work in Kerry and Donegal is fantastic). The route in our video starts at Dooagh Beach car park. Walk down into Dooagh village, turn right after the bridge onto Chongie Road and follow this as it becomes a bog road (it is part of the Dooagh Loop Walk). You will come to a 90 degree turn, where the track goes to your left. Ahead is a hill with a rocky outcrop; choose a safe/dry route up towards the left of the rocky outcrop. From there you will overlook Annagh. You can choose to descend to the lake and beach either to the right (quicker, but steeper) or the left of the lake. That left / west side of the lake has ruins of several stone buildings. Have a great hike - the weather should be fine this weekend.
