Then, we fight against and kill dozens of Kurokumo Clan members, a subsidiary of the Thumb. And now, we're probably gonna get involved with the Ring. Great going, guys.
Tbf you can't really blame the bus gang on the ring since Verg already obliterated their corridor and killed one of their maestros, if anything they already had Limbus as a target
Ryōshu has become the primary mouthpiece for the Limbus group's info about The Fingers. If she doesn't have history with the Ring, she's from a Finger.
Since the character Ryōshū is based on had a kid they burned in the original story (at least from what I'm aware), if Ryōshū was a member of the Ring she might've sacrificed her own or a similarly close kid to their operations.
Actully, from the way she spoke of here, she calls them in bad Style. And the important part of her Character art is that she has ALL the fingers in it. Meaning that in the Past she has worked with or against all of them. She is also one of the two Sinners that have explicite warnings in their files regarding their Past as well as the Throwaway line of Dante in Canto 2 that the Ryoshu we see in the Game is a farcry from the Strenght she once had. Also, she canonicly never attacks with her own Sword unsheethed, not even in her EGO.
Ryoshu's Canto is probably gonna be about the Ring, considering her knowledge and obsession with art. So If Canto 6 doesn't center around the Ring, then her Canto DEFINITELY will
Fun Fact, around node 6-21, Linton mentions that if his brother found out what he was doing. He would try to kill him, people have theorized that his brother could have been the Edgar of Zwei Section 1 that appeared in chapter 38-40 of Distortion Detective.
My current theory of what is going to happen is based on a line from the novel, namely one where Cathy says "I am Heathcliff." As such I think that Cathy is going to use the Mirror tech to make that literal, as in use it to grab an Identity where she is literally Heathcliff. Only it won't be our Heathcliff, it will be a Bad End Heathcliff like he was from the novel.
One of the books in LoR states that if the patent for a singularity expires, it becomes free to replicate for anyone (like the nano tattoos). Corridors may be such a tech, with a caveat that it requires too much resources to be used by randos
There's another issue with the corridor. Actually navigating the indoors hellscape that is a corridor. To effectively use one you'd need both the resources to create a corridor in a given space AND know every in and out within that corridor so you don't get lost and die.
Do note that there are more than just singularities in the city. The corridor could also be a 'god of the city' in the same vein as the indexe's prescripts are. Less a technology and more an entity birthed by the desires of the city.
Whatever's going on in the basement started well before Cathy. Nelly herself said the long dead Mistress of the house sealed it, meaning Mrs. Earnshaw not Cathy. Further, given that the ID story is rather uniquely telling it's own story that seems to be very different than what the crew is experiencing, it seems likely that the mirror world will be directly intervening in what is happening.
There's also apparently 2 Boughs within the Manor currently. Combine that with the Head Maid being able to 'communicate' with Mrs Earnshaw, and Cathy's... strange shift in personality after the 'visit', AND Cathy seeming to be able to manipulate the Manor and its contents (the lights going out, the corridors looping, the diary text changing or becoming readable), etc, I suspect Kathy has become the new Mistress of Wuthering Heights Identity wise, and that this 1st Bough was imprinted on by Mrs Earnshaw or Cathy, similar to how Kromer and N Corp did in the final Floor of Canto 3.
Especially since one of their Sinners stopped her work (or an equivalent) dead in its tracks. The distortion process we saw in the April 5th update certainly suggests Carmen ain't gonna be stopped as easily as that Monolith.
It's also good to notice that the Ring is seemingly divided into groups themed around art movements (Ryoshu explicitly mentions "the Fauvists", Pablo is an explicit reference to the Cubist movement.)
The side of my brain obsessed with the lore of these games is sooooooo excited. Something that I look forward is Dante's comment, that he can sense two Golden Boughs in the mansion, and how Cathy specifically refers to 'Her' Golden Bough, not the, or Lobotomy Corp's. God I need to read Leviathan asap

The entire Canto already felt like we're going straight to a haunted house and suffice to say: -Senile armed servants trying to whoop our ass -Supposedly "plucked" syndicate gang trying to kill us -A very much unsettling mansion where we're chasing after a ghost for our purpose Yeah, there's just enough evil spirit in this canto, and we need mental warding against it.
I'm betting that Cathy and The Ring are both planning to betray eachother. Cathy promises The Ring whatever was in the basement (and a Bough) while she plans to use Heathcliffe and the LCB to clear the board, before reuniting with or avenging herself upon him. Though I'm guessing Cathy has somehow turned herself into the second Bough and is hoping that LCB will take the original while Heathcliff can stash hers. Without Dante they really should have had no way to know there was a second after all.

Honestly I belive the N Corp and The Ring working together but are keeping eachother FAR away for their real goals. Not only that but im suprised that no other syndacites or corps are are beefing with them as such an alliance would certainly shift power dynamics in the city
Update on the plot without spoiling it's ending: MASSIVE INSANE SPOILERS FOR BASICALLY THE BEST CANTO Matt was A heathcliff Hermann gave cathy two golden boughs to create a mold that could hold an identity from another mirror world (heathcliff) Catherine got convinced to create the entire laboratory and make a deal with N corp After nelly showed Catherine the mirror she looks into she contacts the Catherine of everything which is basically the same as the heathcliff who was pretending to be matt Basically The ONLY connection carmen had to the entire canto was the fact basically everyone major distorted The laboratory wasn't directly the rings but the remaining scientists of the ring Thats all i can name off the top of my head

I don’t think being ‘just another finger’ should be thrown out so lightly, the Five Fingers are all listed as Stars of the City, they have enough power to rival the Wings. They all have named syndicates as subsidiaries, Kk, Twinhook Pirates, and Night Awls to name a few. They literally run the backstreets and instantly overrun a fallen Nest with the help of said subsidiaries. Being ‘just another finger’ is being one of the 5 most powerful syndicates in the PMverse.

I perfectly know that this canto is based on wuthering heights and not any other book, but dear god I got hit with an awful case of deja vu while playing this first part of the canto, and it all began a week earlier when I was thinking "I wonder what will this 'echo' part in the new status mean!". The way Josephine acted about Cathy, the inside of the manor getting "twisted", Cathy's behavior when thinking about Heathcliff after his escape and letters being mentioned in any form, I know that it's likely my paranoia but if it gets in any way more familiar to house of leaves we should prepare for an emotional bomb of a canto. Especially if that Carmen theory turns out to be true. We are yet to learn how fucked up a trip to the human psyche can be. My schizo episode aside, it's important to note that the whole thing with "Heathcliff probably murdered someone" from his EGO still didn't get mentioned.

They're different altogether. Color Fixers are in line with official work, like with Associations, Offices, Fixers in general. Everything's documented with a license. The Fingers are the five largest Syndicates, which are gangs or any organization that works without going through legal means. But if we were to make the comparison, the leader of any given Finger (except maybe The Index for reasons) could be the same level as a color.
Well spoilers for Canto 6. Instead of attempting to decipher the whole mirror world shenanigans that occur. I'm going to touch on the Rings Involvement and some other bits. Aesah is apparently working with N-corp now. The Ring has no involvement with the events of Canto 6, but there are some Ring members persent.
..... Huh. That makes sense since Clear All Cathy is a pun on Clear All Cache in Korean (Cathy and Cache are pronounced exactly the same in Korean.) Heck. We might be heading into different Mirror World versions of Wuthering Heights. That could be why renovations were done specifically to the mansion.

@@ymorp9612 Yes! If you search for either Distortion Detective or Leviathan and 'Post Type', you should find it. As for which to go with first, either one tbh. Leviathan takes place after the events of Library of Ruina, while DD takes place during them. But the stories don't have any major overlap and are more standalone than anything. If you want a comic for the first half, go for Leviathan. But if you're good reading a web novel and want the events in chronological order, go with DD.
More than fair. Have fun! Only hazards I'll give ya are that the story changes formats twice in its 20 chapters. After chapter 11, it goes more into a Distortion Detective style without being a comic anymore. And chapters 16 and on are harder to find. But there's a link to them in my Discord among other places. I don’t think being ‘just another finger’ should be thrown out so lightly, the Five Fingers are all listed as Stars of the City, they have enough power to rival the Wings. They all have named syndicates as subsidiaries, Kk, Twinhook Pirates, and Night Awls to name a few. They literally run the backstreets and instantly overrun a fallen Nest with the help of said subsidiaries.
Being ‘just another finger’ is being one of the 5 most powerful syndicates in the PMverse.

I perfectly know that this canto is based on wuthering heights and not any other book, but dear god I got hit with an awful case of deja vu while playing this first part of the canto, and it all began a week earlier when I was thinking "I wonder what will this 'echo' part in the new status mean!". The way Josephine acted about Cathy, the inside of the manor getting "twisted", Cathy's behavior when thinking about Heathcliff after his escape and letters being mentioned in any form, I know that it's likely my paranoia but if it gets in any way more familiar to house of leaves we should prepare for an emotional bomb of a canto. Especially if that Carmen theory turns out to be true. We are yet to learn how fucked up a trip to the human psyche can be.
My schizo episode aside, it's important to note that the whole thing with "Heathcliff probably murdered someone" from his EGO still didn't get mentioned.

11:42 thats probably a far strech but i feel like that guy is maybe Yan? so far, the only OTHER member we've seen from Demian's crew was a semi-distortion similar to the members of the Reverberation Ensemble, what if that's Yan after he got unbooked while being distorted and he got that Philip treatment? Who distorted only for him to disappear and come back later as a member of the Ensemble as a semi-distortion?
Demian's whole gimmick is blue, which is the same color as the Ensemble

Nah, he 100% punchable. Catherine was desperate to get Heath back because she had 0 idea why he even left to begin with; which Heath explained in his letters... which Linton burned. He is the reason Cathy accepted the deal with Ring and led to... well, what's happening. He's just a pretty big asshole in general, too

They're different altogether. Color Fixers are in line with official work, like with Associations, Offices, Fixers in general. Everything's documented with a license.
The Fingers are the five largest Syndicates, which are gangs or any organization that works without going through legal means. But if we were to make the comparison, the leader of any given Finger (except maybe The Index for reasons) could be the same level as a color.

Post type is where PM hosts them, though now they only have DD and most of Leviathan. I'd def recommend having a translator browser plugin when going on that website too

@@ymorp9612 Yes! If you search for either Distortion Detective or Leviathan and 'Post Type', you should find it. As for which to go with first, either one tbh.
Leviathan takes place after the events of Library of Ruina, while DD takes place during them. But the stories don't have any major overlap and are more standalone than anything. If you want a comic for the first half, go for Leviathan. But if you're good reading a web novel and want the events in chronological order, go with DD.

More than fair. Have fun! Only hazards I'll give ya are that the story changes formats twice in its 20 chapters. After chapter 11, it goes more into a Distortion Detective style without being a comic anymore. And chapters 16 and on are harder to find. But there's a link to them in my Discord among other places.
