I’m from America, and I can say that most people are unsatisfied. When people grow up in such a spoiled country, they tend to be more entitled. When you live your whole life free and spoiled, you’re less grateful and your idea of “bare minimum” becomes distorted. I hate people who are like this, but that’s the majority here.
People here have said that they want to move to Syria because it’s better. See what i’m saying? They grow up so spoiled that spoiled becomes an expectation.

one can recognize an American from far away, when one can hear and understand (if one speaks American) from far away. They wear their night clothes to go out and they don’t even try to understand what other countries customs are or what they wear in public etc. And yes, they seem to own the world, no matter where they are. But, they are giving, friendly and open minded and that is something the Europeans can not always say for themselves. But yes, they don’t need umbrellas, because it does not matter if their clothes get wet. Europeans wear nice clothes to go somewhere and it does matter if their clothes get wet. So, the umbrella is a must.

Especially since there is not such thing a unique and singular "European" culture, group, or people. I don't remember Estonians or Poles "creating" America when they arrived in like the early 1900s. Secondly, seeing as that would only apply to British colonials, then that definition doesn't apply to the majority of Americans. Thirdly, also seeing as how the US white population is dwindling, then the perceptive norm would change as minorities become the majority.

A liberal Swede with secular 'values' has very little in common with a conservative Russian with Orthodox 'values', don't you think?

So I was on a train in Europe and there was this group of other Americans (I’m born and raised in California) I was cringing at how they were acting. My friend and I were trying to sleep since we had been backpacking though 5 countries at that point and this group wa a being so loud! I’m not one to complain much... but man. And one of them would ask out loud silly questions like “What does the London flag look like?” “Do we have accents too?” “Is Paris it’s own country?” Then they started to drink and that only made things worse. It looked as though they knees the train 😖 I was surprised everyone else on the train just kept calm and just ignored them.. maybe internally laughed 🤔 .
I do a lot of traveling and all of my travels have made me hyper aware of these quirks people do back home. I don’t change who I am as a person, but I try my best to be as respectful as possible to other cultures. Also, I try to learn a few phrases in the language of the countries I visit and do my research beforehand. I’m not the best, but most times it makes locals open up more.

What the guy from Norway said makes so much sense, I live in the Seattle area which has a fairly large Scandinavian population and there is a phenomenon called the "Seattle freeze", basically people around here are not going to appear very warm and welcoming unless they moved here from somewhere else. Now I'm not saying that Washingtonians are are rude and hate everyone, but it may seem like that for someone that is not from around here.
And about Americans not using umbrellas, at least here in Washington nobody uses umbrellas because it rains so much we would have to use them all time and that would be annoying so we don't, we just make a run for it when we go out in the rain.

In case you fellow Americans didn't know it, this is how most of the world feels about us. I believe it's based out of jealousy and the fact that we do what we want and are unapologetic about it.
