    I used to install alarms/remote starts in college for extra money. For those that dont know Viper/ Python/ Clifford are all made by DEI/Directed and each has alarms identical to each of the alarms of each sister company. So identical in fact that all modules, remotes, and add-ons can be swapped between the comparable alarm of the other brand.

    You gave the most informed illustration on this Viper Alarm.
    I had it installed at Jack’s Stereo in Tyler,Tx. In 2009.
    I forgot about most of the features you displayed in this video & I Thank you for doing so. This is the best of the best vehicle alarm’s on the market!
    I also purchased the Viper vehicle app for an additional $199.00 & with this app you can do everything from your phone that the key fob does & more… ie: Start your vehicle from anywhere in the USA 🇺🇸, Track your vehicle location, Engage the kill switch, check how much fuel is in the vehicle, Tire pressure & several other features that I haven’t mentioned.
    I Thank you again for this Wonderful demonstration on this Viper Vehicle Alarm!!!

    If you pull up to your house and need to get something inside but you don't want to shut off your car for the two seconds you'll be inside there is a way to take your keys with you and leave it running too.
    1.Put the car in park and foot off the brake
    2. Press the remote start button
    3. Take the key out of the ignition and your car will stay running for the time you have it set to.

    I have only used 4x4 one time. I purchased the truck in texas and there isn't many places for off road in Houston. I am now in California where there are a few places. I am an avid dirt bike rider so hopefully I will get to use the truck for what it's intended for.

    Nice Video and Nice Truck. I appreciate seeing a video from someone that is informed on the system they are using. I see too many videos from customers and installers that don't have a clue of the features. You stated the alarm should tell you a door was left open when you arm it but it didn't in the video. I install alarms and remote starts and also have a Viper 5901 in my car and it chirps twice upon arming if a door is left open. The installer shut off that feature as it's on by default.

  • @bansheerider619
    @bansheerider619  Před 11 lety

    Good question. The longest I have gone without needing to charge the remote is about a month, however it really depends how often you are using it. The remote charges rather quickly, about an hour. It is important to know how to override the alarm in case your remote battery dies while your vehicle is armed.

    Thank you so SO much for this video, it really helped me. im installing this as soon as i can. in my neighborhood, they have stolen the wheels of 3 cars including my moms wheels in one friking year! i applied lock nuts on my wheels with a key but then i found that there is an easy way to take out the bolts without the key. so using wheel lock bolts are useless.

    Nice truck brother. I've never been a Ford (or any usa manufac) but Ford has impressed me these past years. I have MUCH more respect for them now then any USA maker. My best friend bought a 2012 Ford Flex titanium edition with cash(an older dude) and whilst it's not my cup of tea but it's bad ass in it's own right.
    I'm installing this 5704v system and the smart start soon on my heavily built 94 Nisan Pathfinder. It's gonna be a bitch but worth it.

  • @bansheerider619
    @bansheerider619  Před 12 lety

    Just had that feature fixed the other day. I had a different installer from a different BestBuy look at it and he found the problem. Apparently the original installer used the dome light as a alarm trigger. The correct way to install it is by using the door triggers located under the passenger kick panel. Once he did the connections the open door feature works flawlessly.

  • @bansheerider619
    @bansheerider619  Před 11 lety

    Yes this alarm is worth it. I don't have the smart start because it was a bit out of my budget range. Remember, if you do not have a cell phone signal then the smart start will not work.
    Ford has come a long way. The F150 is the most sold truck on the market as of now. I had a 2002 Ford Ranger for 10 years and never had a problem. I traded it for this F150 and haven't looked back :)

    Yes and you can set separate zones to go off too. An example would be my shock or window sensor. I can silent these sensors and the alarm will only notify my pager when triggered, but if somebody opens a door then the alarm will sound on the vehicle. Or I can silent the shock, window, and door triggers and the alarm will only notify my pager.

  • @bansheerider619
    @bansheerider619  Před 12 lety

    Turn the key to the "on" position. It won't let you crank the engine anyways. When the key is turned on you have to tap on the brake to disengage the remote start. If you tap the brake without the key on it will kill the engine. It is a safety feature so nobody can steal your car without the key. I hope this helps :)

  • @bansheerider619
    @bansheerider619  Před 11 lety

    The ultrasonic sensor will only detect movement in the cab from changes in air pressure. The proximity sensor detects solid objects movement from inside and out. You can adjust the sensor to your liking. Imagine a bubble around your car. You can make that bubble large or small. Anything inside that bubble will trigger the alarm.

  • @billybassman21
    @billybassman21 Před 11 lety

    I think you misunderstood. There are 5 active/passive arming options on the alarm. The passive arming you're speaking of is disabled. I enabled the Auto re-arm with lock. This auto rearms the alarm after disarming with the remote if a door isn't opened in 30 seconds.

  • @Nick-tw9vq
    @Nick-tw9vq Před 11 lety

    You have to have an immobilizer bypass module for you to remote start your car without the key on the ignition. These modules comes in 2 types. With or without an extra key. Directed immobilizer bypass modules can be found online very easily and they are not that expensive.

  • @lrql92
    @lrql92 Před 11 lety

    I'm not sure if someone has already posted this but the reason why you didn't receive any warning or chirp when you armed the truck with the door open is because your door trigger isn't tapped into to.

  • @bansheerider619
    @bansheerider619  Před 11 lety

    Those features are entirely up to you. The backup battery is a necessary feature. The other feature you're talking about is the proximity sensor. That feature IMO is more trouble than it's worth. It is difficult to set the sensors how you want them. The proximity sensors are more commonly used for convertibles or soft cover Jeeps. If you do get that feature be ready for many false alarms.

  • @pantherblack71
    @pantherblack71 Před 9 lety

    I have the avital 5303 installed in my truck, by a DEI approved installer.2 problems I seen on your video that mines will do. (1) when you were in your truck and armed it, you had to open the door for it to trigger the alarm. On mines as soon as you had hit the door unlock button inside the truck it would sound the alarm. (2) if there is a door left open during the arming process it mines will give a chirp and show door is open. I know viper is the top of the line with DEI, but my aviatl works just as good. You may want them to have a look at it again too see why yours don't do what mines does. I've seen bestbuy do some shady installs, you try some other authorize installer to check it out for you. But great video.

    • @bansheerider619
      @bansheerider619  Před 9 lety

      Thanks. The alarm will trigger if I unlock the door. The alarm did tell me the door was open but it doesn't anymore. I am also having an issue that it tells me the trunk is open. I have a truck with no trunk lol!

    • @pantherblack71
      @pantherblack71 Před 9 lety

      ok. like I said you might want too go to someone else instead of bestbuy. I'm not bashing them, but I had some work done there and so have some people I know and were not happy .Example I had a double din pioneer radio dvd install. You can't watch the dvd without the parking brake being engaged. I'm fine with that. But the installer decided to drill a toggle switch into my dashboard to over ride this. But he never asked me if it is ok too drill into my dashboard. Plus you can buy a bypass too install on the radio instead of drilling into somebody dashboard. They were sorry about that and gave me the install free.

  • @shortcircuit161
    @shortcircuit161 Před 12 lety

    Disabling the error chirp would affect doors and trunk. IMO, They should have checked why the trunk trigger was activating to begin with. In order for the trunk trigger to activate, it would have to see a ground connection on that wire. It's possible the installer cut and taped up the unused wires in a way that the trunk wire is seeing a ground connection. Potentially from touching another unused wire that has a ground signal going thru it. Easy fix if they know what to look for. Good Luck!

    @kcroc44 Před 8 lety

    @bansheerider619  Před 11 lety

    Yes, the remote does not have to vibrate. Yes, the remote start works when armed. If the door is opened or a window broken the alarm will go off. I have a window break sensor which detects the sound of broken glass. This helps in case somebody knows how to break a window without tripping the shock sensor. For arming/disarming with no chirp that might be a programming feature in the brain. A technician with a programmer would know the answer to that question. There is no chirp in valet mode.

  • @bansheerider619
    @bansheerider619  Před 12 lety

    Hopefully your alarm will never need warranty service since you had a mechanic install it. The installer has to be listed on the DEI website as an authorized installer/reseller for warranty service. I chose BestBuy for the lifetime install warranty and hardware warranty. Also because I am in the military, I wanted a chain company such as BestBuy to install my alarm. This way anywhere I move in the country I can have a BestBuy work on it.

    Yes there are many add on features you can get with the alarm. The problem is that the installation can be expensive. I can adjust the sensitivity on mine with a screw driver, no problem. The actual adjustment screw is located on the shock sensor itself. The alarm does have many tones. However you can only change them with the programmer. I bet BestBuy would change the tone for you free of charge.

I also have no module for the remote start but can be done later. I realized the alarm rings and works if I open the hood. But alarm does not work when I open the door while it's armed. I add backup alarm which has its own battery and I added the sensor so it gives you a warning if someone is too close to the vehicle, And there's a sensor so if you have your windows down it will give you a warning if someone sticks their hand in the vehicle.Do you think I need all those features?

    WHICH IS THE SENSOR THAT IF YOUR WINDOW IS DOWN A LITTLE AND YOU STICK YOUR HAND IN THE CAR OR THROW ANYTHING IN THERE THE ALARM WILL GO OFF?

  • @bansheerider619
    @bansheerider619  Před 12 lety

    No....That is a separate feature that you have to pay extra for. One window module will operate two windows. For my truck I would have to buy three modules, which is very expensive for the parts and labor.

    i understand you can silently lock/unlock but car you make it silent so the alarm wont go off. For example at night and the cars in my yard and someone plays loud music i don't want it to go off.

    Yes the keypad still works. The keypad does not control the alarm. If the alarm is armed and you unlock the door with the keypad it will trigger it.

    Nice would you recommend this product? Thinking about getting one for my f-150

  • @bansheerider619
    @bansheerider619  Před 11 lety

    Yes but you have to buy the receiver and have somebody install it. It is about $200 plus a monthly subscription for the service.

  • @bansheerider619
    @bansheerider619  Před 12 lety

    Hmm, I wonder why the installer would do that. The installer also enabled the trunk trigger, which is weird because trucks don't have trunks. The alarm would chirp twice upon arming telling me the trunk was open. I went back to BestBuy and had them turn it off. Too bad I didn't know the door trigger was the same way, I would have asked them to enable it. Thanks for the heads up. Maybe I'll go back and have them look at it.

    In the notes under the video I provided a link to the alarm user manual. The manual will tell you how to turn off the keypad lock.

    Anything that you leave on will stay on. If you turn off the radio before leaving the car then no, the radio will not be on. An example would be the defroster. In the winter time I leave the defroster on. That way when i remote start the vehicle the defroster will come on.

    Where did you buy the Viper and do you have to purchase all the sensors(glass, shock) separately?

    • @bansheerider619
      @bansheerider619  Před 10 lety

      Bought it at Best Buy. The shock sensor is included but all other sensors have to be purchased separately.

    I have the same problem with the trunk message on mine. And I was wondering how you reset the alarm??

    • @bansheerider619
      @bansheerider619  Před 9 lety

      Disconnect your battery for a couple minutes then reconnect.

  • @bansheerider619
    @bansheerider619  Před 12 lety

    Yes. However Viper will only honor the warranty if it is bought and installed by an authorized reseller. I already had to replace my 2way remote. BestBuy gave me a new remote no questions asked.

    Are you able to still start your car without using the remote start? Let's say you loose the remote or it looses it's charge?

    • @bansheerider619
      @bansheerider619  Před 6 lety

      If the alarm is armed then no. If the alarm is disabled then yes you can just use your key. If you loose the remote or the battery dies there is an override button on the receiver with a customized button sequence to override.
