As a mom of older kids/young adults and teens, I can definitely encourage all moms to listen to you to “stop everything and play/spend time with your littles!” They grow up so fast. You’ll always be happy you colored with your daughter and played legos with your son....and you won’t regret the times you didn’t get the floors clean by doing so!

One line a day journal filled out at the end of each day:
*one line for the day’s events
*one line for each child; a milestone, a memorable event, story, or funny kid quote, etc
*one line of spiritual: prayer, gratitude or a verse
This little journal that takes only a couple minutes will be a precious memento when your children are older... it feels like you don’t have the time now, but if you don’t take these moments now, you’ll never capture them in your memory. 💝

So agree! I’ve recently taken up the habit of “airing the bed”. (1950’s video idea) I pull the sheet and blanket back to reveal the spots where we slept all night, instead of just leaving covers how they lay when I get up. I let it air out while I make my hubby his cup of coffee and breakfast. As soon as he leaves for work (or sometimes before) I go in and make the bed. For me personally, it’s depressing coming into the room to go to bed and it being unmade.

    - Tidy the bedroom before leaving it in the morning, including gathering laundry and making the bed.
-Have a daily "quiet time" even for kids who don't nap anymore. We have quiet time while the toddler naps and this is when I do self care like exercise!
-Meal planning. I keep my meal plan stuck to the fridge and try to batch cook on the weekends to make the week go more smoothly.
-Get kids involved in daily chores! After breakfast my 6 kids and I do a quick whole house cleanup before starting our homeschool day. It takes less than an hour and every room gets touched.

I’m a huge proponent of the leaving the house tip. We don’t do it daily, but at least 2 week days and then almost every weekend day. Sometimes it’s just to get the kids strapped into their own seats so they aren’t picking on each other. Sometimes we just go for a prayer drive, sometimes we go to the park, sometimes mama just needs a coffee, sometimes it’s running an errand or two, sometimes it’s grabbing lunch at Chick-fil-a. It makes a huge difference in everyone’s mood.

If we get a 2nd vehicle, I may "get" to go shopping every now and then.
But because of our location, us being careful of Covid while I was pregnant last, and just plain convenience, my hubby does all the physical store shopping. Honestly, I didn’t realize that it was a habits that I implemented, but when you pointed it out, I also realized that I stop and do stuff with my kids here and there rather than after things are done. I also started because after I got everything done I always wanted me time, not to go play with kids.
I always felt guilty for this. But hearing and seeing someone else do it, it actually makes sense. When they are older, kids are going to think, “Mommy frequently put me over her work to play with me and make time for me” instead of, “Mom gave me the last bit of her time when she was just exhausted.” Kids don’t have the longest attention span ever. They are going to value quantity more than how long each time.

I agree! I agree! Definitely... your last tip is spot-on. This coming from a mom whose kids are now grown. I found that to be a real sanity-saver... also, in the mix, one day a week we usually ended up visiting great-grandparents. I can not say enough good things about that.
I want to encourage you regarding your second-to-last tip... I called it the “5 minute” rule. Just take “5 minutes”, and stop what you are doing to enter their world... really, really look at them. It’s so worth it. Even now, with grown kids, the “5 minute” rule still applies. It’s just deeper now. My kids tell me that they’ve always felt like they could come to me at any time. It’s a habit that you are starting now, that helps your kids communicate with you more and more the older that they get. Well done!

I have a 4yo, a 3yo, and a 6mo, and I can baaaarely get in a 15-20 minute workout without the frustration of my 6mo beginning to fuss or my toddlers fighting. That is even with me waking at 5am every day. There is absolutely no way that I could fit in a 45-60 minute workout, unless I made my husband try to watch all three after his long day at work...

Hi ladies I hear ya it is kinda hard sometimes and sometimes they do fight or my baby gets cranky cuz she needs a nap but for the most part it works pretty good. I have a big space we’re I work out on one end of the room and they have all their toys on the other end so that helps a lot, I usually have all the toys picked up when I start since dumping them out is the most fun for them so that helps. Also I find that having a routine for your kids makes it all a lot easier too. Plus in the morning my kids are usually happy so mornings just work better, so I encourage you to try it for a week or two and see if it doesn’t get easier once they are used to it a bit.

@@Iamboughtbytheking I have a very steady routine, and my two toddlers are usually pretty cooperative. They'd probably let me do a longer workout, but my 6mo absolutely would not. I do try to incorporate mini exercises outside of my 20min one, though. For example, if there are five minutes of free time for me, I'll do 100 squats, elevated push-ups, or calf raises. Physical activity is definitely a great energy and mood boost.

I don't do it everyday but including a fun, kid friendly morning workout routine really helps get our day off to a great start.

I find that I enjoy a soak in a bath each day x x I also when my children were little each day got them to focus on a letter or number and used to talk about it during day and try and find loads beginning with that letter x x x x

This Nana says “great ideas, Megan”...when my kids were young I used to call it “airing the children”...no matter what the weather (we lived in Northeastern Pa like you) we went outside for a bit...question -how do you get the kids to take such long naps and still settle down for bed at a reasonable hour...?

Thank you for this. It feels more realistic than some of the other videos I've watched. I like seeing how you clean and mother. I never know if I'm slacking on the cleaning or slacking on playing with my son. This makes me feel like I can do both evenly.

I really liked this and definitely need to drink water! That was a nice reminder. But I cannot leave the house everyday! I have 6 kids under 10 including 3 month old twins and leaving is an event at this stage. We homeschool our kids as well so there are some weeks when I am lucky to leave the house once all week. 😅 I know it will get easier when my babies get older and we don't have tons of snow!

Thank you!! :)

@@shantelgoode5069 Hi! We chose to homeschool for so many reasons! It would take me longer then I have right now to list them all but the main ones were limiting negative outside influences and flexibility in our schedule and lives. My children have many social experiences that enrich their lives. We definitely had more before covid shut everything down but even now my children have many friends on our street that they are friends with and play with daily, my girls have choir practice once a week, and one of my boys has a karate class. We are also a part of a local homeschool P.E. class in our town and our homeschool program we are in also organizes local field trips. Not to mention playmates with friends. All that being said though I know plenty of children that go to public school and thrive there. Really you have to decide what works for your family and situation. As hard as it sometimes is, try not to let fear rule your decisions. I am sure that no matter which path you choose for your daughter she will ba happy and do well. At the end of the day we are all just trying our best for our littles ❤
