At least Greg gained 1 gold for himself in the process of attempting to help them.
Problem solving fee.
He's saving up for when he escapes the game
"Everybody wins" :D
He mugged them
I thought they gonna mug Greg for that 1 gold and then repeat the cycle
Love how Greg palmed a coin there!
oh wow he did , i didnt spot that :D
I was waiting for the "He...just...MUGGED US!!!"
He's the bona fide Garrett of Honeywood for sure after that.
The question is, Why only one? They don't seem very smart to know how to count
Shhhhhh keep that secret 🤫
The high-level experience of not bothering to take the time to one-shot the two bandits and just giving up a few pennies.
skip! ... -83 gp
I mean, that’s pretty logical of him. I would rather giving up a bit of money that can be farmed again in some high level place in 3 seconds than damaging my rare armor’s and weapon’s durability by 0,2% because of two idiot muggers
Hey, they are muggers, but they are local boys. "Murder is a crime punishable by death."
Doubt Honeywood has Stand Your Ground laws.
@@ak47epic94 to be fair, farming that gold back will probbably take more than 0.2% durability...
Repairs just cost gold so durability is just gold. There's always more gold.
But there's limited time. Two clicks to one-shot each of the two bandits or just one click to dump your pocket change on them. Hopefully quick enough to cut off their cutscene.
I just love that they use the phrase "Give me all your gold, or I'll mug ya", displaying a fundamental misunderstanding of what the word "mug" means. Underrated joke there lol
Right in the mug…
I always saw it as a "you don't have a choice. Be mugged or be mugged"
@@Hadeshy Mug is also British slang for „face“. =)
I'm going to mug you by threatening you with being mugged.
GIMME ALL YAR GOLD OR I'LL MUG YA!
Charles and Bernard give me Spongebob and Patrick vibes.
Also: They had 83 Gold but Greg gave both of them 41, which means he took 1 Gold for himself. Greg is secretly a Mugger himself
Mediation and Consultancy fee.
A true trader makes sure to earn profit off others
But Greg is so much smarter about it. They don't even know he has it. So, that makes him a thief, not a mugger.
Legend says he gets 1 pice of gold from everyone who goes to his shop, and nobody’s ever caught on to him yet🤫they’ll never know
1 gold piece AND a purse to keep it in
The Garlic Farmer is evolving, he actually stole gold from other npcs, manually split it and gave it back to them
He kept a little as a helping fee secretly
He had classes with the Master Alan from PlayTech, he taught him how to confuse people in giving less change
Damn, I forgot he farmed garlic. I haven't seen him doing that since many videos ago.
He might be on the bfink of achieving actual artificial intelligence.
I, for one, welcome my silicone overlord in him.
Garlic Farmer is secretly the final boss. Foreshadowing from chapter 1.
The consistent delivery of the same lines with the same intonation and emotion makes this sketch great.
Bonus points for having Space Ghost as your pic.
Yeah, it really conveys the sense of scripted lines from an NPC^^
@@tranquilthoughts7233 My developer brain is over here troubleshooting the code. Clearly a problem in the friend or foe routine. Though I do like the idea of bandits turning on each other, the recursive loop would probably be a problem. Wonder how you could keep this in without it becoming an indefinite cycle.
The chaotic "HEY HEY HEY HEY"ing when Greg took the gold is now a core memory.
I saw that, i am a witness to this murder !
They had no idea how close they were to death
I love how Greg quietly kept one gold to himself.
His ‘fee’ 😎😎
He mugged 'em
Greg has had to split enough bulbs of garlic that he knows what happens if there’s an odd number of cloves… and he knows the muggers never graduated Honeywood Elementary. 😎
Next episode: “Fine, I’ll give you this pouch of gold; only, I need to eat, so give me one copper piece today, and each following day give me twice the number of copper as the day before.”
Classic programming oversight. The programmer simply failed to anticipate that they might actually successfully mug someone. That way he did not expect them to ever carry gold, and failed to exemt them from their own "If gold > 0 then mug em" check. Happens all the time, really. Kinda interested what would happen if Baelin actually caught a fish or Greg actually sold some garlic.
I was thinking the final punchline was going to be them mugging each other at the exact same time, trading their 41 gold to each other, and repeating the same process ad nauseam. XD
Greg has sold Garlic in a past episode but so long ago I can't remember which one.
>The programmer simply failed to anticipate that they might actually successfully mug someone.
They successfully have mugged a wagon already. 😁
Greg would sell more garlic if there's more vampires playing the game, with the recent outbreak of vampires, it might be high in demand
Same as the Woodcutter that never cuts any wood for his wife and daughter so they can stay warm in the long winter months.
Im proud of them, they went all this time mugging no one and it a matter of 3 minutes they commited like 5 or 6 successful muggings. They grow up so fast.
They mugged like 10k gold from.the carriage i think few years ago
@@007oskariOh yes. One of my favourite sketches.

This just proves that them getting the gold and keeping it is unscripted and breaks the game. Also love that Jurassic World reference with Greg.
Had to get the Jurassic World gag in there 😂
What was the reference? I missed it
@@Adipoli-YT creg is holding the muggers at a distance with his hand, kind of like Owen does with the raptors
@@Adipoli-YT his hand gestures when he took the gold and they tried to attack him... He called them like they were raptors
"There's gold, and it's haunting and haunting;.
It's luring me on as of old;.
Yet it isn't the gold that I'm wanting.
So much as just finding the gold."
--> these two don't need the gold either, they just enjoy mugging people
The follow up skit will be Charles and Bernard eventually coming out of their loop and realising what happened and yelling, "He...just...MUGGED US!!!"
Oohh, I want this one.
nah, the server will be rebooted by schedule and they would not remember a thing
@@ExecutorQ3 Well, let's just hope that Charles and Bernard realize it quickly, but knowing them and their brains...
That mugging loop was certainly worth its 83 Gold. And Greg either has watched some Jurassic World while waiting for adventurers to pass by or he has just really good instincts. I was really impressed by his will to help. And I didn't even realized that he mugged one gold from the muggers until someone pointed it out in the comments.
Very well done Greg!
Atleast they didn't mug Eugene again or else they'll be stuck in the loop
I thought the muggers sounded a bit raptory.
Yess, I also remembered that scene with the dinosaurs😅
Wut? I missed that, and yet that is what I thought just might happen...!
At the beginning, when they mug someone I love the absolute “Caveman who just discovered fire” energy they give off.
Man, I freaking love these two. Their game logic is simplistically amazing.
Thats so like programing. An hour to slap it together then a weekend looking at whats wrong.
Charles and Bernard acting like disturbed guard dogs when Greg takes their gold made me giggle.
Made me actually choke on spit 😂😂😂😂
I want to turn it into a Jurassic World meme. 😆
@@peterengland8131 it was actually a reference, from the hand gesture of greg, just need to swap heads and put those of Charles and Bernard on those velociraptor XD
@@peterengland8131
I saw it that way too! 🤣🤣🤣
Agreed.
I loved how small the step is between "childish delight" and "idiot laughing".
This was gold (please, don't mug me)
hey, you there- give me all your gold or ill mug ya
_gasp_
Give me all your gold or I'll mug ya!
Love seeing the muggers again!!! Greg going all Chris Pratt from Jurassic Park was impressive also. Greg has a side hustle as a mediator now too - even got paid!!! Good for him.
The garlic farmer's AI is too high. He gained 1 gold. What a high-IQ play.
I was waiting for the "He...just...MUGGED US!!!"
now because that transaction wasn't through a. player shop interface doesn't that mean that gold is in GREGS inventory and. not his NPC inventory.
meaning greg presumably has his OWN money now?
Future of the MMORPG
1 gold for therapy is pretty cheap and these guys needed it hahaha
Imagine how many times a day Greg could do this with them.
‘Give us your gold’
‘Or we’ll mug ya’
There’s something about this logic that feels very Monty python
I'd say more Mel Brooks. History of the World Part I has a scene of two beggars begging from each other at the same time.
Well, you can either give them your gold, or they'll attack you and take it.
@@Suthek well, yes, but the mugging started at "gimme all your gold" - they're already mugging the victim at that point. Mugging is ambushing someone with either violence or the threat of violence to rob them.
@@ShuRugal Nowadays, yes. But apparently as the term developed (around the 19th century), it just meant beating someone up/attacking them.
@@Suthek well, when we start using 1800s dialect, that line will make sense as-delivered.
We need a chaotic episode where Greg hears every repetitive npc around his house simultaneously 😂
Legend has it they're still trying to mug each other to this very day.
Or at least, until they hit level cap.
Imagine the bug reports of level-capped muggers mugging low level players, and imagine the patch notes when the bugfix gets rolled out, and it turned out muggers gain XP when they successfully mug someone, and then mugged each other until they reached level cap... All because no one in the dev team actually expected muggers to actually succeed in mugging someone...
As a dev, this hits close to home when AI gets stuck in a loop
Can we all appreciate how Alan pocketed 1 gold as transaction fee?
Well, if the AI gets stuck in such a simple loop, than I guess we can't really say that it has acquired the "I" part yet... ;-)
@@JGM0JGM idk have you met some humans before….theyd really make those AI, really look I.
This is incorrect. Greg didnt pocket 1 gold. He clearly duped the gold. The minus animation didnt trigger when he gave each 41 gold.
@@Farcyde021 you think the devs would’ve fixed that by now…*sigh*

I love how Greg slowly is becoming like some kind of NPC handler. He's gotten very well at calming them down now.
He's evolving. Its like GarlicGPT, keeps getting smarter. 🤪
The NPC Whisperer. 😂
He used the Jurassic World Calming-hand Special Power
So maybe soon Greg will upgrade to Game Master NPC? You know those whom problem solve player tickets?
Pretty sure he used to be an adventure.
The funniest part is when Greg takes the gold, treating the muggers like barking dogs.
I LOVED the touch of the "mugging" music stopping and restarting depending on whether the muggers had gone into their mugging cycle.
The look on Greg's face just screamed "This is going be my whole day."
Until Server Reset
First Baelin, now the muggers.
It’s probably too much, but having Charles and Bernard in the background near Greg’s house stuck in the mugging loop for other Epic NPC Man future vids would be uproariously hilarious.
have them there at the start of the next episode, then have the "player character" walk by kill them and loot them then continue the skit.
And then have the game dev fix the bug 😂
@@hmdragon1638 that's how the bug gets fixed
It would be a hilarious in joke -but very distracting 😂
That's a great idea
This is pure gold, I love it! Great synergy between these two, easily one of my most favourite episodes.
I was so sure that the epic moment would have been them splitting the gold and realising that there was 1 coin left that couldnt be split and start mugging each other again for 1 gold 😂
The things Greg witness by standing outside his house. The curse of being the sanest guy in the game.
He's called the Epic NPC Man for a reason, y'know.
I'd say Baelin is saner.
But even sane men have their breaking point, such as...too many skips. We all remember that dark day... Its the seemingly normal quiet ones that often have the largest capacity for violence.
at 1:05 it says minus 83 gold - when Greg splits the funds at 2:44 they get 41 gold each - this seems to me to indicate Greg is a criminal master mind and has in fact taken a 1 gold coin cut from the muggers making him the 3rd of the group.
Brokers fee.
I just typed this lol 😂
A criminal mastermind would have taken ALL the gold, not some of it.

Perfect how the music starts again when the mugging line starts over again :D
And how Greg holds them of with his open handpalm was straight from Jurassic World with Blue the velociraptor... perfect easter egg!!
Lmao I love how Alan calmed them like raptors from JP.
That was hilarious
Alan is like a lighthouse in the thick wave of fog just trying to help everyone out
And casually steal 1 gold xD
I only saw my guy the garlic farmer with great prices whos this Alan🧐
I've missed Charles and Bernard. May the mugging never end!
An especially appropriate term considering "mugging" can also mean pulling weird faces & over-actibg for the camera... Very apropos for the much-loved but not-super-bright duo being played here! 😂
they already did the beating the dead horse episode though so... where do they go from here? There's only so many mugging jokes that can be made... they need new material.
Based on this video, it doesn’t look like it will 😆
Nice emote there 😎
aw man, I had been waiting for a long time for a new muggers skit, it's always the best with these two guys
I absolutely love the exchange they have when Greg takes their gold, and it's like a full 15 seconds of them panicking, then slowly calming down. Cracks me up everytime 😂
They have more successful muggings in one episode than the rest of life combined.
Remember the wagon episode?
But their proficiency for mugging must go through the roof if they continue like that. Master muggers in no time. ^^
Greg skimming from the muggers is 😗👌 that sleight of hand, boy should have been a rogue. ❤
That sneaky 1gold 😍
Would be an interesting turn of events if one day he's a Fence, not just an everyday Merchant.
He took one gold just for all he has to put up with, lol.
Love all your skits VLDL! Also love that you guys interact a lot with the comments, very rare for channels to do that nowadays, especially one owned by a group of people!
I loved how Alan just calmed them like rabbid dogs and even Ben just growl when that happened.
The programmer of these mugger characters really just programmed them to mug everyone lmao
if (character.in_range() && character.gold_amount() > 0)
{ self.mug(character) }
... and I guess actually giving the muggers the gold was never playtested before release.
I mean, once they mugged a cart.
@@DarkJoyRus I saw several videos with these muggers and I so, i think more real code is:

All the mugging aside, can we all take a moment and appreciate how f*cking GOOD this looks!?
I felt like I was watching Greg give behavioral training to two overly hyper chihuahuas. It was like watching an episode of the Dog Whisperer!
Around the 2:30 mark, they definitely act like dogs
Mugr Whisperer...
On that subject, I'll echo thousands of behavioral experts here: *don't* watch "The Dog Whisperer." Lessons range from benign to horrific, built on rotten foundation that the original 'architect,' so to speak, spent years trying to get people to abandon.
Positive reinforcement methods yield long-lasting, predictable, and constructive results-- and at no point will you have to justify abusing, abandoning or putting down a creature you supposedly love for the sake of your authoritah.

Man the AI for the NPC's has become super freaking immersive god damn.
Greg saying "God damn it." when he failed to stop them from trying to mug each other is so hilarious,I was laughing so hard!😂
the NPC nature of dialogue is a slice of genius :D, it's as if advising to share gold is like a strong comparable projection of what a real life pacifying situation would be, but the outcome shows the game parameters cannot be breached, limited to day in life of NPC.
Just when I believe that there can't be any more mugger golden sketches, you guys immediately create a new favorite for me. They're definitely my favorite characters, God, couldn't stop laughing the whole time.

Greg is braver than he looks, trying to deal with armed muggers. Sure, they're dumb as bricks, but even a brick can cave in your skull and mug you of your life.
The fact that they are dumb is what makes them more dangerous, they could unwittingly, as you said, bludgeon him to death, without meaning to.
