I saw them in April of 2022-
Can’t believe it’s been that long. The set list was nothing like this. I remember they played “Just Once In The World,” “Calendar Hung Itself,” and “Comet Song.” Those stood out specifically. I wish I could’ve seen this show!
Saw them in Brisbane last Thursday (2 November) - great night. Loved Nate's trumpet solo at the end of Persona Non Grata, although it seemed longer in Brisbane!
Interesting to see a slightly different set list - no Jejune Stars in Brisbane, for example. The overall delivery seemed a bit heavier in Brisbane than in Sydney - it seems like the band were a bit tighter in Brisbane but Conor's singing wasn't as melodic - he was more in rock mode.
Also interesting that they didn't play anything from Cassadaga.
The little double time ending part to mariana trench was cool and something ive never seen them do before. A wonderful show

Sounds nice, I think it would sound epic and more heavy if you took away the girl drummer, and the dude bassist. Keep the original 3- Conor on guitar rhythm and vocals, Mr. M. On Bass, and have the legendary keyboardist on drums. Would be super nice 🎉
”the girl drummer” is Maria Taylor and she’s been in the bright eyes sphere since like 2001 , playing and singing on at least half of their releases 🙂. Amazing musician who’s written a ton of great songs.
Also an ex-girlfriend of Conor even though that’s not really that important.
You’re of course entitled to your opinion, it’s just that she’s more than “that girl drummer”.
And first day of my life is about her.
