Danny, it’s amazing to me something 84 years old still does its job. Back when things were built to last. That is pretty much going out the window these days well has for a while now.👍👍👍

I was immediately reminded of my grandfather's Grist Mill in Neshoba County, Mississippi. There was always a delightful smell of the corn in the air and my memory flooded back to the 60s and 50s. My grandfather ran his Grist Mill slower than what you did.

Working in a restaurant, I cook grits everyday. A pinch of salt, and some milk/heavy cream makes a huge difference in flavor. We use stone ground. I use 6 to 1
liquid to grits ratio. I bring the liquid up to, just under boil (don’t boil dairy), add the grits and turn to very low heat. I cook, stirring every few minutes, for about 30-45 minutes or until really smooth with no grittiness

That is the coolest, neatest, thing ever! What an incredible gift that was! Absolutely love the old way of doing things. Bought a hand crank grinder with stones. It is alot of work, but better than going without flour! Sarah at LTH said one time she won a cornbread contest with fresh ground cornmeal/flour. Currently looking for an antique apple peeler like yours. The PC one we have just is not holding up.
just about forgot, God bless y'all and everyone😊

Good morning, How exciting to grow and grind your own corn. The farm that we buy our chicken feed from has their own stone ground corn. Does it really make a difference? We buy from farmers in our area. We have a large German Baptist community all around us. They are similar to the Mennonite community. Absolutely wonderful people ❤️. We'll have to try the stone ground and see lol. God bless you guy's ❤

AS SOON AS any grain is ground, it begins to oxidize and lose both flavor and nutrition. It’s best to have a home mill and grind only for immediate use. Nutrients are essentially gone within 48 hours.
