Usyk showed true heart and fought like a warrior. He made me a fan today.
It is just as well that Peter Fury formulates the game plans of his own fighters. No one is really heeding the common sense and logical advice that he gives. I am just a boxing fan. I am just a novice, mush less an expert. Yet I was appreciative of the fact that he had the foresight to state that certain things had to happen for a T. Fury victory or a "train wreck would occur". What he said was not "rocket science" but it did require thought.
I do not understand how anyone can think Usyk could be knocked out in 7 rounds unless his opponent lands a lucky punch in his mid-section? The man lives in crude barracks in remote "ice villages" months before fights. He is so mentally tough because of this. He could be knocked down repeatedly, take a bashing, and yet he would still only get more tenacious and determined as the fight goes on.
I wonder what Tyson's accommodations were. There is no doubt he too is mentally tough. After all look how recovered after the 9th round. However there is a difference between trained mental toughness and natural instinctive mental toughness. One can be coached and one cannot.
Again If I remember correctly, Peter F. said something very similar to that as he stated that a fighter needs both to win a difficult fight. It was Usyk's preparation that got him to go all out and all in. He was trained to get going when he was getting hammered. I wonder what mental toughness training Tyson received in camp. Did he live in such austere conditions as Usyk? It is hard to say but I think I have my answer.

Furry was literally outboxing him even the commentators would agree. Just because a fighter comes back in the later rounds doesn't mean its a guaranteed victory. A close fight is a close fight. It can go either way.

Why should Usyk have a re-match? He's been fighting giants - took them all on and beat the best of the rest in Fury. He's already beaten Joshua twice - Fury beat Wilder twice, so this was the ultimate showdown for this era. They both put on a good show, and Usyk wanted it more and deserved it. Usyk's cemented his legacy. He's got better and more important things to take care of - Family and his nation. George Groves said it well - They talk about Pound for Pound, but Usyk gives away 20-30lbs every fight, and still beats them all. Crawford is one of the best, but could he give away 20lbs and beat Canelo?

Usyk by a mile. Fury did land some good shots but he was on his back foot most of the fight
Usyk outpointed Fury, was the aggressor and rattled the bigger man...his heart and his mission was the deciding factor for the win. Fury took the gas off the pedal a bit, lost concentration and didn't expect Usyk to hurt him ....when his nose was hurt in the 7th it changed the landscape of the fight.
I'm so grateful to have watched one of the best fights of the last 30 years. What a fight!

I agreed with Tarver's opinion. I thought fury nicked it by one, but def not mad at the result. That fight was unbelievable and both men did amazing. I honestly didn't know what the judges were gona say. That knockdown came out of nowhere and changed the whole fight just when it looked like fury was on the way to getting usyk out of there. One round like Usyk had in round 9 doesn't win a whole fight like everyone seems to be acting, but the extra point in that round proved to be decisive in the end. I thought fury won by one. It was a close fight, after Fury recovered in the 10th his corner should have told him to go for the KO in 11th and 12th. He had Usyk hurt in the mid rounds but didn’t step on the gas either.

I’ve said this for years about Fury….. being bigger than everyone else does NOT mean you’re better. He’s gotten away with manipulating people into believing he’s great. He’s got the weakest chin in heavyweight history and has never fought anyone with significant boxing ability. This generation of HW’s has been light in the talent department and all of them rely on size to win fights. The skill that once ruled the division with Lennox, Holyfield, the REAL Tyson, Bowe and certainly the others before them, has decreased in this crop of modern HW’s. Wilder had great punching power but lacked the BASICS. So Fury’s best win, was beating a dude who didn’t even have the boxing basics you teach beginners! You’re gonna tell me his other opponents were GREAT? He’s run from Joshua all this time because that’s the only HW nearly as big as he is, who’s stronger and can punch, but who has the basic fundamentals to beat him easy. Look at what Ngannou did to him, that was no fluke, that was due to making up the size differential that he usually has over everyone else. Fury is a mediocre HW. Make him 6’2 and he’d been a stepping stone. #Trash
Thank that referee. There was no standing 8 count anymore and he wasn't tangled up in the ropes for a standing 10 count. Usyk shouldn't have been stopped from punching until Fury hit the ground. Everyone knows he'd have never gotten up in time had he hit the ground. Fury was so out of it that he couldn't think to just take a knee.

People are saying Usyk was denied the TKO, but that's wishful thinking. The referee correctly called it a knockdown because the ropes is what kept Fury from falling. That is in accordance with the rules. It appears Usyk would have TKO'd Fury if he had more time after the knockdown though.
