They don't seem to use the exact same base model for everyone with similar body types, and that's a good sign. I can clearly tell which character is taller, has bigger chest, thighs, shoulders, arms, etc. instead of being almost indistinguishable except for the faces and the outfits like in genshin

Individually all the designs are super cool and very well done, but if you see them together there are some of the designs that could be confused between them because they look kinda similar for example in hair style (mostly for the females) and the color palettes because basically all the characters are wearing something black. Although I recognize that that could help form some sort of cohesion between the characters, I would try and not use it for all of them

Lingyang? He is very adorable. I have done his story quest and it's both sad and super cute. It tells a lot about what Lingyang does and much more. I find him adorable since he reminds me of Razor and Ga ming. (Genshin of course!). He also has the ability to smell peoples intentions, and he does lion dancing as a hobby & job. extra info since you'll probably need it: Lingyang is a glacio dps, he can carry anyone during early game. He's also a meta DPS character for standard characters. His play style is very basic but comfortable, so he's pretty easy to play (and his kit is easy to understand). He doesn't require much to build and is a good pick if your interested in cute animal dps characters. His mats & other things are easy to farm, so it isn't a hassle. hopefully this comment helps, @ me if you want more info about him, other characters, or general info about the game.
Some of the honesty melt together, they should differentiate them more with shape language and color palettes Update: the designs are really growing on me, I still think some units like jianxin and baizhi, Aalto and calcharo kinda blend together on the first look but as you play it becomes easy to differentiate between them all.

The goal of this game when it launches needs to be thats it’s completely different from Genshin as much as possible if it wants to stay relevant. Otherwise theres a possible ToF situation all over again. Genshin was able to do it with by separating its similarities to Breath of the Wild. If the only advantage of this game over genshin are gacha pull rates, then its already lost.

Though visually interesting, the designs don't communicate their personalities and what their role in the world is. It's more like the designs follow popular trends/templates for male and female characters (like, you could guess what new units are gonna look like - suits and pants for the guys and the girls show more skin with the thigh highs and cut-up sleeves, OR their clothing cuts off on higher-up places). No interesting silhouettes either, and the colour scheme they picked for everyone makes them blend into each other with very few exceptions. I've seen these type of designs in SO many anime gacha games at this point, so I'm not even surprised. TL;DR - They look like vtubers in the worst way possible. Their design elements look slapped on just to look cool instead of telling a story for each character. Really wish these types of games took more risks when it comes to character design.
Some gacha games with great character design (imo) are: the Cookie Run games (seriously wow you can guess what a character does every day with a glance while also fitting into the artstyle), Reverse 1999 (vibrant cast of characters with different nationalities represented in their designs), and Dyslite (this blew up BECAUSE of it's the extreme variety in its cast, the gameplay was just boring to me lol) I stopped playing gacha games bcs I got bored with all the grinding, but I'm always on the lookout for ones that have unique designs o7

@@levibest2409people always use the “gameplay better” reason for kuro but never admit that its not the most decisive thing at all. pgr is a league better than hi3 in gameplay and guess what, pgr is a nobody compared to hi3. the reason being hi3 is just more interesting. better story, better cutscenes, better music, better immersion, better lore etc etc etc. genshin didnt become massive because of its gameplay, in fact people complain about it endlessly. its because genshin forced people into years of brainrot because of its lore.

@@raksjaja PGR is not a nobody because it’s competitor has better stories to tell. It’s a nobody because it’s marketing is shit. Hoyoverse will give you a good story but kuro will give you good gameplay that’s the difference between these companies and what they prioritize. The reason PGR isn’t as noticed as Honkai is because marketing and reputation. Kuro is an upcoming studio (and a damn good one) they’re nobodies right now but marketing is why hoyoverse is doing so well they understand the power of marketing they paid full price and it worked it doesn’t matter if their games are good or bad they got marketing down to a T and it worked. If you like story telling then yes honkai is better if you like gameplay then kuro games is the company for you
You sound like a player that likes story over the gameplay and that’s fine that’s an entire popular genre of video games but if you are looking for that in kuro you aren’t finding it I can tell you that right now, they don’t really care for the story as much as hoyoverse
I think a lot of players from genshin impact are going to come in and expect the story to be in the same level and it won’t be

BUT my point about gameplay not being the most important factor remains true. even if a game has good gameplay, they surely wont be a big game UNLESS they have amazing lore and characters. nier automata is gameplay AND lore. so is botw/totk. so is DMC. heck so is undertale. etc, etc.
point is its not a dichotomy. im saying even if wuwa’s gameplay is 10x better than genshin, if its not interesting for its fandom to “brainrot” over, then this game is just dead one month in.
and to clarify, i am MAD excited about wuwa. ive been waiting for it for a year, and is in fact the reason ive been playing pgr. sadly i just…dont care much about it, its a blah game apart from the workout music and…alpha weaver. so i honestly want to be surprised, and TBH, i think ill have fun. just, hopefully the fun lasts more than a few months.

Though visually interesting, the designs don't communicate their personalities and what their role in the world is. It's more like the designs follow popular trends/templates for male and female characters (like, you could guess what new units are gonna look like - suits and pants for the guys and the girls show more skin with the thigh highs and cut-up sleeves, OR their clothing cuts off on higher-up places). No interesting silhouettes either, and the colour scheme they picked for everyone makes them blend into each other with very few exceptions. I've seen these type of designs in SO many anime gacha games at this point, so I'm not even surprised.
TL;DR - They look like vtubers in the worst way possible. Their design elements look slapped on just to look cool instead of telling a story for each character. Really wish these types of games took more risks when it comes to character design.
Some gacha games with great character design (imo) are: the Cookie Run games (seriously wow you can guess what a character does every day with a glance while also fitting into the artstyle), Reverse 1999 (vibrant cast of characters with different nationalities represented in their designs), and Dyslite (this blew up BECAUSE of it's the extreme variety in its cast, the gameplay was just boring to me lol)
