One thing I understand now about this show through every season; they became more than a group of friends, they became a family.
Lol.
Very true
Wow its almost as if that was something the show tried to do intentionally
Henrybuch0ltz 12345345henry is
A show that premiered in the last year of the 70s ended in 1988 and couldn’t look more 80s than in its last season. The fashion and everything changed so rapidly in 9 years.
Well that sums up the 80s in a nutshell
And also 1991-1999.@@anthonycerulli5524
The mall took over! Penguins!
God Bless Mrs. Garrett. She was good on The Facts of Life and Different Strokes and she will really be missed.
Same Here
Kim Fields grew up learning THE FACTS OF LIFE, then as adult, she started LIVING SINGLE.
So true, ha ha ha. 😄
Maybe that’s why she went to living single, she learned the facts of life first! 😛😛😛😛
And in a 90's kind of world she's glad she had her girls.
LOL, I see what you did there
She also had Diff'rent Strokes with many folks.
RIP to the legendary Cloris Leachman!
I feel so out of the loops, but I just learned less than an hour ago that she passed. Another legend now gone.
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
This theme song will stick in your head forever!!
No it won’t
Especially this version
Thanks to Alan Thicke and Gloria Loring.
The older ones or season one but not the older ones
As a guy, used to love this show as a kid, this and Different Strokes. I loved Kimberly and Blair. Both great shows. Too bad some of the actors had their personal demons.
I loved this show! How I do miss the 80’s.
This and the Diff’rent Strokes theme song never fail to boost my mood.
And both written by Alan Thicke.

Whatcha talkin about Willis? Yeah another great show.
As a kid I wanted to own a store like “Over Our Heads”
Me too.
I wanted a Blair as a kid Lol
There is something about the smile of nancy mckeon, magnetic.
She was always the one my barely-teen self had a crush on!
gorgeous omg
I always liked her too. I had a crush on her as a kid. 🤓 ... The less makeup she had on and the less dolled up she was... the cuter she was. 🥰
She was always my favorite!
I remember how each episode had the big dramatic moment right before the first commercial break with some type of crisis being revealed.
"When the world never seems / To believe and uh-oh your dreams" AND
"It takes a lot to get a ride / When you're learning the facts of life" were the two misinterpretations my child brain formulated back in the 80s every time I watched this show.
Rest in peace Mrs. Garrett
Bradley Boy 😢😢😢
R.I.P Beverly Ann
Rest In Peace Beverly Ann
R.I.P both Charlotte Raye & Cloris Leachman
By 1988 this was the only sitcom introduced in the 1970s still on the air and NBCs oldest sitcom as well. The finalie was may 7 1988 and its last day on NBC in prime time was sept 10th 1988
i like this version of this show's theme song the best!
You have to admit, this theme song is catchy.
I love it!
That one & Gimmie A Break!
When you realize this was 40 years ago. Crazy.
I know right? 😮 Where does the time go? 🕰
One of my favorite sitcoms of all time!
God bless Shout Factory for releasing the classics on dvd 😀
Im a 90 kid and this was one of my favorite shows
Goodbye Mrs. Garrett & thanks! RIP Charlotte Rae...
I love this show when I a little girl. To bad that don't make good tv show like they used 2.
The sitcom genre is dead
Mystery Man i notice that
@TomBradyShow 12 no they don't
isn't that the truth
Great show!
This theme was so much better
Blair was always my favorite. She reminded me of a younger version of Elizabeth Montgomery.
I have the whole box set of the facts of life
R.I.P Mrs. Garrett
i think it's funny before the FOL Intro starts somebody says Turning the channel lol
RIP Cloris Leachman. Active until the bitter end.
Oh the good old days.
Here's the full theme song Sheels1976😉❤👍 czcams.com/video/Sd6wEeKjbqg/video.html
I love how this intro showed how the girls changed and matured over the years.
Saw this show on tv land in 2009 when I was 25 they showed all the seasons cool it's on dvd box set 😀
Great TV show...simple and friendly without unwanted things to see.
You obviously didn't see the early seasons shows.
the whole show was awesome
Rest In Peace Charlotte Rae (Mrs. Garrett) & Cloris Leachman (Ann Beverly)
that's Beverly Ann
@@barrydavid6634 oh that’s right thank you for correcting me
I so like this show when I was a little girl.
My sister used to love this show so much since her childhood. I was born in 86, three years before it ended I believe
I was born during its last season.
Two years before. It ended in '88.
85 baby here.
RIP Cloris Leachman (1926-2021)
Yeah, as a kid I liked the show. Another great classic.
When it comes to Kim Fields, for some reason I am always thinking about the actress who plays Lisa in Save by the Bell.
Closing Theme:
You'll avoid a lot of damage
and enjoy the fun of managing
the facts of life.
They shed a lot of light.
If you hear them from your brother,
better clear them with your mother
better get them right,
Call her late at night.
You got the future in the palm of your hand.
All you gotta do to get you through is understand.
You think you rather do without,
you will never make through without the truth.
The facts of life are all about you.
I had a major crush on Kim Fields. She's nearing 50 and still fine. I'm almost two years older than "Tootie" and then "Regine"
RIP Charlotte Rae
The age of Innocence TV
I rather watch this show rather than Nashville, Empire or the reality series The Bachelor!!
In 1978 and 1979, Loring and then-husband Alan Thicke composed the theme songs to Diff'rent Strokes and The Facts of Life. There were two versions of the Facts of Life theme song that Loring sang.[4] One version was used from seasons two through six, and a second was used from seasons seven to nine.
I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a major crush on Blair
I miss stores like this.
I Used To Pretend That Kim Fields AKA "Tootie" Was My Wife In My Childhood Dreams Because She Went From Cute To Beautiful😁!
They all did.
I did that with Blair, until I realized I was gay and wanted to be Blair. Haha.
She is fire...especially on living single
Nickelodeon Presents: "The Facts of Loud"
Starring: Rita Loud, Lori Loud, Leni Loud, Luna Loud, Luan Loud and Lynn Loud Jr.
(And featuring Asher Bishop as Lincoln)
I had the biggest childhood crush on Mackenzie Astin 😍😍
They don't make sitcoms like these anymore.
He's the son of actor John Astin, better known as Gomez from "The Addams Family," and the late Patty Duke. They were married for several years before breaking up due to Patty's struggles with mental illness.
@@Lotmeister Thank u google......so anyway what was the point of Andy in the show. How did he get in the picture?
@@andresuston7692 I think they wanted to add a male. He first appeared in season 6.
@@Asukenick - Likely the reason for Leonardo DiCaprio showing up in Growing Pains. Everyone else was too old to no longer be “relatable” to the younger viewers so toss in a kid/preteen to make that.
Facts great actresses on that show
Just *LOVE♥️* '80's fashions‼️
This whole time when I was a kid always thought that opening intro was about you take a bath you look back you take a bath and that's The facts of Life that's what I thought the whole😂
RIP Cloris Leachman
I remember watching the facts of life when I was growing up 🤣
Rest in peace Beverly Ann Stickle
Rest peacefully Mrs. Garrett.
Rest In Peace, Beverly Ann
what episodes were shot in the theme song
I can't say if Charlote Rae wrote the lyrics to the theme song, but she sure did a fine job of singing it.
RIP Cloris leachman
Its like looking at a bunch of the missing kids on IT. There they are, you remember them. But one day they just disappeared like maybe you imagined them.
RIP Alan Thicke
Alan Thicke married Gloria Loring, and they co-wrote the song.....it's a wonder Robin wasn't in on the background vocals back then too.
Didn't he sang the Different Strokes theme song?
This opening theme had a "Saved By The Bell" feel to it somehow. Had more a feeling of a Saturday morning "tween" show than a primetime sitcom.
It was better in the early years.
Rip Cloris leachman
That 80s hair though, sheesh.
loved blair in this show and her beautiful hair
Blair and Jo had their worst hairstyles in the middle seasons, in their high school years and the last season their hairstyles were pretty cute.
Tootie was my favorite. Had a crush on her.
RIP to Cloris leachman
Geez. How time went. All the 80.s come & goes. What do we have left ? Nothing but boring other shows with no flair. Yawn Fest. Well? At least we live out our youth years & look back and say. What a ride.
Mrs Garrett was better
You can't go wrong having Cloris Leachman take over, but yeah, it seemed weird without Mrs. Garrett on the show.
At least there was an easy transition between her & Beverly Ann, the torch essentially being passed by Charlotte to Cloris in the 7th season finale, by them appearing together. The worst move could have been simply to end Charlotte's final episode with her goodbye & then have Cloris magically appear in the 8th season premiere to take over. Continuity was preserved while also giving the viewers a chance to say goodbye to Charlotte/Mrs. Garrett.
Even better is that in a lot of the cast reunions, Cloris has appeared, too & did even when Charlotte was still with us. Though it might have been at the end of the show's run, Cloris was & has been accepted as one of the gang.
@@ericandy88 Quite frankly, the show tumbled a bit when the scene shifted away from Eastland, continued to go downhill after Mrs. Garrett left, and then just wasted away in the final season. In the final season, so many of the episodes featured fantasy scenarios, things that could never realistically happen.
Eric Andrews It was actually the season 8 premiere, but I agree with you on the smooth transition.
Who wants to see another reunion movie with the girls finding out about the passing of Mrs. Garrett? Beverly Ann, Andy, George, and Pippa returns for her funeral.
This is from Season 9. They never used that footage for Mindy Cohn's credit in Season 8
fecman94Playthroughs the footage of Blair wearing the aqua is though
I think they may have changed Mindy Cohn's picture halfway through that season. I loved her red hair!
Natalie looks like a young Anne Ramsey (Owen loves his Momma!)
they could of been twins
RIP Cloris
They are like 40 years old in this last season
@coffeeinthemorning not good with jokes I guess
Kim Fields, the youngest, was not even 20 yet.
@@ericandy88 taking my 4 year old obvious joke a little too serious bruh
I had the biggest crush on Blair & Tootie 😄😖
loved Blair on this show
its the 1980's, it may have started in 1979 but this opening is from the 80's
Agreed.
@@bigbubba29 this opening is from the later 80's. There were a couple of versions in the 80's used. This is like the very last version of the opening credits. They could do this back then because there were only three broadcast networks basically.
Man I had such a crush on Jo
Yeah me too!
Same here.
Mine was Blair
def blair
natalie
I think this was the first opening sequence of season 9 - Mindy's credit was only seen during the last season, before the rest of the cast's were updated when Sherrie joined.
That's exactly what I thought as I saw this opening. This was used season nine during the first few eps then Lisa's profile was updated.
JhomasE Lisa's final opening credit was filmed during the second episode taped (A Rose by Any Other Age) - the black dress with long hair. Sherrie arrived on the TENTH taped episode (sixth to air - the last season was WAY out of sequence!), when it was finally added to the opening credits. There were 9 episodes (apparently) taped before Sherrie joined, but they were spread throughout the season.
The final shot of the cast (Blair in a "cow pattern" sweater) - 14th episode taped, 18th to air (taped in 1987, aired in February 1988).
There was also a writer's strike that season, so they started filming in the beginning of June, about 2 1/2 months early! 20 episodes filmed in 1987, and only four in 1988.
+millenniumman75 cool! We are on the same page, then.
They must have refurbished it a bit.
Alex Bogue The shop in the opening shot was still being used after the 13th taped episode, when Over Our Heads was finally closed for good - to make bedrooms for Pippa and Andy. You never saw their bedrooms or the store ever again after that episode.
Wow Cloris Leachman Beverely Stickle gets the house the store and the girls and George Clooney too and the boy in season 8 as her adopted son and more of George Clooney in this season
Andy was a cutie!
at 0:09 i can see Goggle Red from Dai Sentai Goggle-V
I have to ask this. I just recently saw the episode of The Facts of Life where Beverly Ann came to live with them. Natalie confides in her story that Beverly Ann came to live there and take care of the girls. By this time, the girls are in their 20's and are able to take care of themselves, so was there really any reason for Beverly Ann to be there?
Spin off to Kim Fields was in Living Single
George can now plan on the facts for his twins
I think because Cloris Leachman came later in the series and simply replaced Charlotte Rae, I think in the opening credits Leachman should have been displayed last or 2nd to last. They should have just had Lisa’s name shown first. But that’s just my opinion.
I think Cloris Leachman could have been her Phyllis Lindstrom character and was Mrs. Garrett's sister on the program. Mary Tyler Moore could have appeared
Catalina lol
What else show are they going to master
George Clooney started on this show!
Really?
@@Goleon Yes, he played a handyman in season 6
@@jamesb16616 season 7 not season 6
I liked the earlier seasons better before they became adults.
I think that's the general consensus. NBC handled them being adults really clumsily. Turned them into the golden girls by adding beverly ann when they needed a guy with them in order to compete with designing women.
This is season 9 opening not season 8.
Nah it’s 8, remember 9 includes that new girl
@@betterthanemril988 The very first episodes of Season 9 showed the same opening credits of Season 8. For example, the double-parter Down and Out in Malibu.
Edwin Salas Hernandez so this is season 8 just reused for 9 then lol
I'm here from _Married With Children_.
i loved Tootie's chest!!

THIS IS NOT 1979
colandra wordlaw I think its just listing the span of the show from its start and end year
of course 79-93
This era was 1986 to 1988.
But is a representative of the whole of the series.
The series started in 1979.
Where is Nancy
This is the 1989 theme song!
The show ended in 1988 and this is from the 86-87 season.
The boy looks like a red headed gomez from the addams family.
So else just found out that Cloris Leachman was on this show?
1979?
Jeff Sanders The year the series started. The new theme started in Season 7 but this is season 8 in 1986-87 season
